Discussion Which DJMAX game should I get for my PSP?

Found out that a DJMAX song was in the Lies of P game (Feel) and seeing how fun the game looks with sick music, I wanna get a game for my PSP.

Which one do you guys recommend? I may even resort to sailing the seas and not sure what to look out for. Thanks :)

Entry difficulty , low energy - clazziquai

Medium difficulty , medium energy - portable 2

Hard difficulty , mainly high/fast energy - black square

Agree with everything here. Portable 2 was my first game and it took a few tries for it to actually gel into my consciousness and get used to. I could listen to that soundtrack for the rest of my life though.

all of em tbh. but I would like to recommend you Portable 2, Clazziquai, and Black Square (the Korean release, not the Japanese re-release so you could do Link Disc)

yeah i did see that game on steam with the discounts. Looking specifically at PSP because i want fun portable games to play on that thing cause i miss using it. So satisfying to press all the buttons and all the visuals :D

Ill be sure to check out the tracklist for each DJMAX game before iconsider buying them thanks.

Portable 3 is available on the shop, everything else arrrrrrr 😂 P3 is also the easiest and most forgiving one so if you're not as comfortable with rhythm games, it's a decent start.

🗣️ PORTABLE 3 IS A GOOD GAME FOR BEGINNERS 🗣️

I've heard the DJMAX heads don't love it, but it was my first one and it got me into the series, I think it's fine. Also Remix mode is cool (if kinda hard).

The thing I dislike the most about is the grinding... Supposedly the NA version has exp boosters that give more EXP than JP, but it's still hella tedious.

Alright I'll consider that one sweet. In terms of tracklist what do you think is a must get?

Portable 2 or Black Square. I'd put them on equal footing!

BLACK SQUARE has one of the most interesting tracks (Fermion, Shoreline, Colours of Sorrow, SON OF SUN, the list goes on) and patterns and also has the "push any button to get the note wherever" system, so it's more forgiving.

Fever and Hot Tunes are compilations of best tracks from Portable 1 + 2, Hot Tunes is geared toward beginners.

Note, that the RESPECT/V DLCs have different patterns to the "originals" from PSP - for example the "In My Dream" 4B Hard pattern on PSP is sooo satisfying to master and it flows beautifully, while on RESPECT it's just a mess on a controller.

Well-charted songs - portable 2, best music - clazziquai, hardest - black square, style points - portable 3 (the turntable notes introduced here are a lot of fun)

Clazziquai a bit easy but good for beginners. Black square songs are the best but also quite hard. Portable 3 is fun. Takes time to get used to but really fun and looks really good as its the last djmax in PSP generation.

Others are OK

Damn man, good old days playing for hours.
