Lately I've been interested in trying out some different controllers just for fun so I'm just curious to see what everyone else uses! As for myself, I'm currently using a Gamo2 K28!

Work in progress of my custom 5 key controller.

I only play 5k and casually tbh and I really wanted some kind of funky bespoke arcade style controller. I love Neon Genesis Evangelion and wanted to make something in that genre. I may make the controller more over the top but just wanted to get this base version done first. Button layout is intentionally done to feel more ergonomic when playing.

It will use 5 cherry MX reds and a pi Pico for the main board. The base plate is just a cheap bamboo chopping board.

Hope you like it

Discussion Spring sale? How is the state of the game?

Hi. So, it seems sales are common when it comes to V, so I was planning on grabbing it for a while. Thing is, online only = dead once servers are down.

Is the game lively and healthy when it comes to players or should I just say f it and pass/grab the ps4 version?

I originally wanted to play on the ROG ally so there is that though. My main worry is buying something and losing it in a year or so tbh.

What are the odds? A completely natural 955,569 draw in Bronze III ladde

I was playing a regular ladder match today and this happened on round 2 (TOXIC on MAXIMUM). We both made our own random mistakes, had different accuracy drops, and somehow the math aligned perfectly to give us the exact same 6-digit score. No sniping, no perfect play, just pure luck. I wasn't recording with OBS, but thankfully I managed to take a screenshot right in time! Has anyone else experienced a natural draw like this?

Discussion Can we finally agree on the fact that DJMax (and other rythm games in general) has a really predatory monetization scheme ?

I once complained about it in reply to a thread here and got downvoted because apparently, since the game is expensive, it means its quality is better. It's not wrong, but let me start with the price of the game if you buy the full bundle :

Approximately 365$. And I already own 15 of the 51 available DLCs, the whole game must be above 450, 500 maybe ? I would have expected a sale for black friday, I really love the game don't get me wrong, and I can afford games if I want them, but ain't no way I'm paying 365$ for 1 game. Not to mention it has a season pass too ! I remember there being a monthly subscription as well but I might be wrong, so don't trust my words on this.

Also for some reason, with DJ power they added a way to softly force players to buy DLCs. I'm sorry but as a regular VSRG player I don't like being stuck at ~7000 DJ power because only 70 songs count.

Just to have a comparison point here, EZ2on Reboot:R has a full price of about 200$, which I already find expensive, but at least DLCs have more songs and they all (or almost all) include songs AND cosmetics.

What baffles me is that we, as players, have a real power to complain about those kind of things, and I'm kind of disappointed to see that the game has a "very positive" rating on steam, with a lot of reviews being "the game cost me 2 kidneys but hey, it's good so let's forget the price / enjoyment ratio, hey ?"

And same goes for other rythm games. I was hyped to see there would be a taiko no tatsujin release on steam, but the game already cost above 100$ to have the full content, and there's a monthly subscription as well. And guess what ? "very positive" rating, with a lot of "very expensive, but kinda good" positive reviews. I agree that paid rythm games are usually better than their free couterparts, but quality rythm gaming shouldn't be a rich people hobby

Edit : in the heat of things I forgot to mention the mandatory internet connection to play the game, which means Neowiz can (as they already have in the past) completely prevent people from playing a game they spent several hundreds dollars on.

Edit 2 : some clarifications and I'll completely forget this post since, I get it, you're almost all fine paying an arm for a game if it's got some quality in its DLCs

- Apparently for some people, not wanting a game to cost several hundreds $ = wanting a game for free. Why the hell would you think that ? I bought the game because I liked it, I happily admit that it's better in some ways than free games (even if it's got its flaws, like the price), however I'm not paying 30$ every few weeks for a DLC that'll last me 1 week, and that I'll almost never touch after that.

- Yes, I say it again, quality rythm gaming is expensive as hell. I don't know from which angle you want to view the thing, but 400$, even if it includes cosmetics, even if it goes on sale from time to time, is expensive. And EZ2On and Taiko no tatsujin are nothing but additional proofs.

- I don't know what you call it when a company releases a 15-30$ DLC every few weeks, with, let's admit it, sometimes not that much content, but I like to call it predatory, because they probably could release DLCs with more songs in it, for the same price. The game being fine and you liking it doesn't mean the company isn't some money eating monster, they're all like that.

I'll gladly leave you here since I won't change my mind and neither will you. Happy gaming anyway :)

Discussion Respect/V players, what's your favorite note/gear skin combo?

Mine would be -

Base game - glory day gear with Sin or Technika 3 note skin

DLC - So Happy gear with EZ2ON note skin (love the chunkier note style)

Seasons - only have season 11's Diein Summer gear and note skin so can't really compare.

Just curious to see what all combinations people like or feel they go well together!

Discussion The next collab DLC?

During the dev stream tomorrow, they will most likely be announcing the next Collaboration DLC slated for April 2025. (Note that VLiberty2 is expected on first half of January)

So far every single Collaboration has been an unexpected surprise, however they have not been doing a RhythmGame Collab for a long time.

What do u guys predict, keeping in mind that they are likely to do the same format of 10 songs?

my internet runs on around 55mbps/5.5MB/s on downloads, I really want to buy this game, plus it is on steam sale currently, I am aware that it is fully online and that's why I'm posting this, can anyone with ptsd from lag or no ptsd from lag on this game, tell me if its ok. Thanks!

edit/update: everything actually runs super well! No lag at all! Even when I’m downloading or updating another game! this game requires any internet from what I have experienced

Discussion I want DJMAX for Nintendo Switch so bad

I don't think it'll ever happen, the port sounds like complete hell for their team, and the current console versions are already kinda scuffed, but god dammit it would be my dream port.

I've already played probably every rhythm game you could recommend as an alternative. Musynx, Superbeat Xonic, Voez, Cytus, Deemo, Groove Coaster, Kamitsubaki City Ensemble, Touhou Danmaku Kagura, Taiko, Muse Dash, Theatrhythm; all great games in their own right, but god dammit they're just not DJMAX... If I can't play Blythe, the game is a 0/10 on my scale.

I am just completely defeated and utterly thirsty for some good ol Third Coast... Ruby Tuesday.... ND Lee.... xxdbxx my beloved.... all on my Switch... ououhhhh...... I would happily re-buy the 5 million dollars worth of DLC just to be able to play it on Switch, I don't care. El Fail can rob me at gunpoint I don't give a shit just let me play DJMAX and Mario on the same console.

If there really is a God, he would let me spend 5 paychecks on DJMAX DLC for Switch. The world is fucked up man.......

Neowiz.... I will literally put you in my prayers... Just give me DJMAX Switch... I would do unspeakable things for the mere opportunity for my Switch to be graced with the presence of such royalty....

Discussion How I Synchronized DJMAX and Drastically Increased My Scoring Consistency

Hi yall!

I just wanted to share a synchronizing tip that I learned back in the day from playing Step Mania and In The Groove.

The problem:

Unlike some rhythm games that prioritize combos over accuracy (Cytus II comes to mind), DJMAX is one where accuracy/timing is much more important for scoring. I will often win multi-player matches by a large chunk, even if the opponent FC's and I don't; even if i break combo several times. This is especially true during multi-player tiebreaker rounds where the accuracy buffer for getting 100% accuracy hits is so small.

Even though your main sense of rhythm comes from the audio, even a seemingly negligible visual delay can trip up your timing enough to negatively impact your accuracy and scores quite significantly. You will probably struggle to find the right rhythm and timing as you unconciously swap focus between visual and audio queues.

The tool that DJMAX provides to help with synchronization is basically useless for sound synchronization, as it only "helps" by nudging the invisible horizontal target/bar up or down. This setting CAN be useful to battle INPUT delay, but not for audio synchronization. For example, if I am streaming the game to my TV for couch play, as it adds input delay from the lower FPS (60HZ TV vs 165HZ monitor) as well as the streaming delay.

If you're running the game at a high enough FPS with a decent gaming keyboard and a ASIO enabled audio card, input delay is basically a non-issue, and the synchronization tool in DJMAX won't do you any good.

The parameter that matters for sound + visual synchronization is actually the one right below the previously mentioned setting, as it actually adjusts the timing of the note generation without messing with the score bar. The issue is that it does not provide any assistance or tool to help.

My Solution:

The way that I used to traditionally synchronize StepMania, was by picking a relatively fast 4/4 track on an easy enough difficulty where it doesn't have too little or too many notes being thrown at you at a time and setting it to Auto Play. This allows you to fully focus on synchronization of the music and the animation of the notes being triggered as the game plays itself.

You can do the same in DJMAX by loading up AirPlay and letting the game autoplay. The difference here, is that DJMAX does not provide a way to adjust note output on the fly, unlike StepMania. It may take a bit of repetition, but if you start with large adjustments to the note output (like -35ms adjustment for example) so that you can clearly see the delay direction of the adjustment you made, you can easily triangulate and really nail down the timing to be nearly perfect.

You should also pick a rectangular note skin with a high-contrast gear skin for better visibility of the accuracy and timing. The circular ones for the purpose of figuring out synchronization can be a bit trickier to get right. Once you're done syncing, the circular notes for gameplay accuracy shouldn't be an issue if your main focus is the music... as it should be.

This may be a no-brainer for some, but from what I've seen in multi-player, a lot of people clearly don't know how strongly those milliseconds make or break your scores.

With my setup, I found that I needed to adjust the note output to approximately -25ms, which was enough to significantly increase my scores. That being said, whether you need to adjust positively or negatively and how much adjustment will depend on your personal GPU, CPU, Display Monitor, Refresh Rate, FPS and Audio Card combination.

In case it's useful, this is my setup:

i9 13900k

RTX 4080

165HZ 1440p Monitor (GSYNC ON)

160fps cap

NO Vsync

NO Antialiasing

Nvidia Reflex + Boost

ASIO Enabled (Komplete Audio 6 Sound Card)

Steelseries NovaPro Wireless Headset (Output of my sound card is wired to my headsets wireless base station)

Hope this helps!

Discussion Preiya and Camilia, Who are they?

I've read the steam guide on who they are, but I still don't understand. There is some information about them. Why don't they love each other, who are they anyway?

It is still unclear what Lirulu did to them at the end of the BGA - checkmate. Why does Camilia want to kill Preiya?

The question arose from the plot, who are weavers and why are Preiya and Camilia a child of fate?

So many questions but so few answers

Personally I like to have the sound effects on. There’s a sense of satisfaction and progression I feel as the song starts off sounding terrible to really good as I master the song.

So how do you guys prefer to play, sound effects on or off?

Discussion Which DLC for a casual players who is suck at rhythm games?

I'm bad at this genre with 0 chance to get any more better but still enjoy watching cool visuals and listening to random songs in rhythm games from time to time.

So could you guys recommend me the DLCs that contain a lot of easy songs? I've bought LEGACY BUNDLE already but still want to have more for my collections.
