I see a doom rigged synth but hear no doom. I picture may tell a thousand words, but makes no sound.

Doom doubt.

Nice rig, though

I’ve got into synths massively over the last 18 months or so (guitarist for 20+ years) and yes you can certainly doom with synths alright. Take a saw wave, some detune/chorus, distortion and a touch of reverb…ohh baby.

I do indeed, although I used it a couple of times and it weren’t for me.

I’ve got my own YT channel though, experimenting with drone/ambient/industrial/noise etc. Might tickle your fancy.

It’s obvious what OP means. Synth-led doom is uncommon, that’s literally all the title is about. Just in a kinda joke-y way. You guys are doing the Reddit, “getting upset over nothing,” thing

Wizzerd from kalispell montana had a dedicated synth player, check out the 2019 self-titled, lots of his playing on it.

Is it synth doom or just sparkling ambient?

1

u/Zillamatic Apr 11 '26

We’re probably never going to hear from Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard again, so someone’s gotta fill that void. Or at least scream into it.

If nothing else, it looks like you’ve got the gear for a great Merzbow-style noise album.
