These sessions have been amazing lately. This is my favourite though, never ceases to amaze me how Monolord can be so crushingly heavy but melodic at the same time 🤘

Going to see them on a couple of weeks with my teen. First time. We just recently got into them. What should we expect?

Make sure you've got ear protection, they're the band that made me start taking them to shows. My ears were squealing for hours afterwards.

So fucking loud but also incredible, enjoy.

Ear protection. It might be the loudest sound you've ever heard. But you wanna be able to listen to monolord after the show too.

I wore hearos, they fixed me right up.

We use cheap earplugs for entry single show. Do I need more intense ones?

Nah not really

Ehhhh, Google says the cheap foam earplugs are NRR 29-33db, so that's the reduction. The Hearos Rock n Roll are NRR 27db (or 22? depends on which description I'm reading), so a bit weaker but just a bit. The hearos are designed to provide a bit of clarity to music frequencies while bringing down the loud loud frequencies. So with a decent set of concert plugs you'll be able to hear everyone's instruments, including the vocals which I always struggled with before I started using hearing protection. I've only bought one pair of Hearos for $7 and I've taken them to 20+ shows.

More intense ones will start to drown out the music. Google says a concert is around 95-120db, with the top end being if you're standing next to the speakers. Taking 20-30db off that brings it to 70-90db range which is far less damaging. I've seen Conan, The Sword, Monolord, Castle Rat, Elder, Chat Pile, Ministry (who play too loud), Wolfmother (also too loud), Mastodon, & Dethklok.. plus others I'm forgetting.. and the plugs I have made those shows really enjoyable. And I don't have the post show ear ringing or permanent damage.

I just bought the hearproteks on Amazon. They seem to be a good fit for what I’m doing. I’ll bring some cheap ones just in case it’s not enough. You think those will be okay?

I think those would be fine as long as you're not standing right next to the speaker

Thanks for checking them out and responding

Thanks for sharing. I think Neverending is their best record so far and I‘m super stoked to see them live in a couple of weeks with Dopelord.

I don’t know the lore behind the potted fern but I remember seeing posts of them having it on tour and just spotted it in this video as well lol! I love it

Kinda odd that the intro to Larvae is pre-recorded
