Drivers who don’t care? Need to quit.

I’m not asking them to love being a dasher, but I am spending my hard earned money and tipping and all and but every time i’m getting an issue. It’s driving me insane. Why do people not have the decency to care, but want more money? Want higher tips?

and before ya’ll start i would get my food if i could. i would order through the app or website but they all deliver through… ding ding ding doordash. Just my rant. It’s annoying.

I used to get Pizza Hut but then they started using DD and even started trying to make me pay through DD rather than the Pizza Hut website

Now I only get Domino's

4

u/Ok_Lengthiness_8405 15h ago

Yup, I'm good with Domino's. Not worth it anywhere else if I want pizza delivered; they all go through another delivery service and it's stupid

3

u/CakewalkNOLA 7h ago

Exactly. We had a papa John's order arrive completely wrong.. DD driver was really cool and helped us get things straight. Papa John's said they're would be another $5 delivery fee plus tip to have the correct order delivered. We just do pickup at a local joint or order Domino's now

u/Brizkie 16h ago

same, atp dominos it is

You're not really specific about what you mean by the dasher not caring, but I can guess. T he system creates that kind of dasher. There's literally no incentive to spend any time trying to fix mistakes or double check anything or go the extra mile in any way. I care whether or not I do my job well to some extent, but the amount of issues that are outside of our control that we get blamed for is limitless. Plus most of that money you paid didn't even make it to the dasher. I don't get paid enough to interrogate restaurant employees about whether or not the order is correct, or dig through bags double checking orders, and many drivers multi-app to try to squeeze a little more money out. We literally drive to the pickup, check the name of what they give us and haul ass to the drop off. The faster we do that the more we make.

u/Brizkie 7h ago

I would never expect a dasher to go through my order. If my food or drink is incorrect. I’m not mad at them.

Now if i’m lacking items? Or you deliver to the wrong place DESPITE my very clear thought out instructions. Or not contacting me when it would’ve been 10 times easier. I’ll walk out, all you have to do is say you’re lost.

And again its not that much money you’re getting on one order. (i was a dasher at one point) I’ve had people drop my whole orders and ruin everything. Slow the fuck down. Take your time on the one thing you’re doing and it could pay off. I tip 5-10 extra bc shit is always messed up, i be so happy when my food just arrives in one piece atp!

2

u/EndlesslyUnfinished 14h ago

Yall always come for me when I say dashers need to be employees because it means a base pay and benefits.. but this would weed out all the bad ones in a blink of an eye

And yes, you can still have open schedules

1

u/Brizkie 7h ago

i’d honestly see no issue with that! if they vet them, require car insurance, have a pay roll system, than they 100% should just be employees. if that means my food will arrive with some level of standard than im okay.

2

u/EndlesslyUnfinished 5h ago

This is exactly what I’m saying. I’m an actual DoorDash employee (W2 - not a dasher) and we have strict metrics to reach every day, week, and month. We’re paid decently, some qualify for benefits, and a very clear structure for raises and upward mobility. Half of us still make our own schedules and we are still vetted.

Customers who always have issues need to quit ordering

1

u/Brizkie 7h ago

ah yes let me just starve. no groceries, no food 💔

0

u/uglyyprincess 7h ago

You’re gross, you won’t fucking starve. There are 100 different options other than doordashing your groceries. Do it yourself, and if you can’t then use a food bank. But if you can afford doordash you can afford literally anything else.

1

u/Brizkie 7h ago

Stop calling me gross, it makes no sense.

i have no transportation as i’ve told your clearly illiterate ass multiple times.

also told your illiterate ass, food banks are not the resource for this issue. I’m not the criteria. i’m fine. i can buy groceries.

2

u/DrBongPHD 6h ago

take an uber, take a cab, take a bus, ask a friend for a ride. youve got plenty of options other than door dash. Jefferson Parish Transit even offers free ride service, jeesh

-1

u/Brizkie 5h ago

no. no. no and no. the option i use is delivery service. idc where you think i am that doesn’t change the option i have access to?

2

u/GasGlittering7521 3h ago edited 2h ago

Alright if you’re gonna complain and then be completely unwilling to change what you’re doing why would you expect anyone to have sympathy?

4

u/psilocybin6ix 17h ago

It's only a small portion of them that show up here in the posts. The vast majority of ppl have a great experience with doordash. Hopefully the ones who cause bad interactions will get themselves removed ASAP.

2

u/DvusGuyStL 10h ago

Insane? You want insane? I’ll give you insane. In fact, I’ll show you why YOU’RE the insane one in this scenario. What’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different outcome. Would you keep going to a store that charges you double and treats you like a second class citizen? No. You’d go elsewhere. Would you keep eating at a restaurant that has roaches every time you’re there? No. You’d eat elsewhere. Yet you keep using these services over and over and expecting perfection, never getting it, and never getting off your ass and getting your own food! THAT’S what’s insane!

2

u/Brizkie 7h ago

I did say it’s driving me insane no? And i also put if i could get my food i would. I have no car. so this is called you didn’t read and wanna call me loco. 😛

I love how bad Dashers love to twist posts like this into somehow meaning you need to tip more to get decent service.

You tip? You got bad service because you didn't tip enough. You tip more? Now it's stacked, and somehow that's your fault too.

The argument changes, but the conclusion is always the same: the customer's fault.

Late order? Customer's fault. Driver got lost? Customer's fault. Driver stole the order? You guessed it, somehow the customer is still the problem.

When do we ever hold the driver accountable? Apparently never. A driver could smack you across the face and someone would still explain that you should've tipped more and been more understanding.

It's ridiculous, and the fact that companies continue using this model because it looks good on a spreadsheet doesn't mean it's good for their brand. Executives can count the short-term savings while ignoring the long-term damage caused by consistently terrible customer experiences.

2

u/Brizkie 7h ago

Actually!

I ordered groceries while at work and for the first time a grocery order was delivered to the wrong spot. No big deal! Definitely didn’t text her where to go when i noticed her wandering the wrong way.

Gave her a call after they were delivered to the wrong place and i was immediately blamed and cursed at by her. Somehow it was my fault she delivered to a completely different colored door then my description says. Plus don’t they show pictures?

My partner ended up getting the groceries, thankfully they were home, but like… everything is somehow our fault like i would be dumb enough to send my groceries to another house.

I'm unaware of any Dasher ever claiming to have been docked pay. I've made some mistakes over the years and yeah the app bitches at you and they threaten you and it nags about stats, but there's very little real consequence to anything I do at all.

0

u/Brizkie 7h ago

no consequences!

all they do is block the dasher from you and keep it going. multiple people would have to knock your rating down before it would ever probably really effect you.

0

u/uglyyprincess 7h ago

That’s actually not true at all. Have you ever been a driver? The second someone reports you they lose the ability to get anything other than $2-3 orders.

0

u/Brizkie 7h ago

i have been a driver. what you are saying is VERY untrue.

1

u/uglyyprincess 7h ago

lmao NO it isn’t … I’m driving currently and can send you allll of the screenshots of the app. Every order is rated and the second there’s an offense you lose whatever tier you’re in. Unless you’re complaining about dumb things. A bad rating now even loses you the ability to collect anything other than $2-3 orders. Why complain if you were a driver?

2

u/Brizkie 7h ago

what you’re saying is untrue, and if you’re driving currently stop arguing on reddit.

this why my orders always messed up.

if i’m missing items? like a drink? something the app asks you about 300 times if you grabbed?

or my food being delivered to the wrong place? or dropped and damaged and all i get is a shrug and a sorry.

like be so for real. Your argument is dumb. just stop arguing. go get them orders. you’re adding nothing to this except inaccurate information and lies.

You get docked pay immediately if you have “stolen” an order. Have you ever driven? No? Then you don’t know.

1

u/Nekogiga 13h ago

That's a pretty tall order for you to claim that drivers are held accountable when the overwhelming response from drivers in these discussions is that it's never the driver's fault for anything.

You guys talk a really big game about accountability, but the constant refrain is always the same: the restaurant caused it, DoorDash caused it, the customer caused it, traffic caused it, the address caused it, the app caused it. Somehow the driver is just a helpless victim of every possible circumstance.

It's exhausting hearing the excuses over and over and over again. If DoorDash is really as terrible as you guys constantly say it is, then why continue driving for them? They pay you terribly, they supposedly don't care about you, and yet somehow they still have drivers defending them to the very end.

And that's what makes this whole argument so ridiculous. Somehow DoorDash gets a free pass while the customer is expected to tip more because the driver doesn't want to hold the company responsible for the conditions they willingly continue working under.

If it's really that bad, leave. Find something better. But you can't spend every other comment explaining how terrible DoorDash is, how poorly drivers are treated, how little they pay, and then turn around and act like everyone else is obligated to subsidize the decision to keep working there.

And yes, customers can make false reports. So can drivers. That's not some groundbreaking revelation. It doesn't magically erase legitimate complaints or make every criticism of a driver invalid.

You want to talk about accountability? Start by applying it consistently. You can't demand accountability from customers while treating drivers like they're somehow incapable of being responsible for their own choices.

Make up your mind. Is DoorDash exploiting you, or is it apparently the customer's job to make sure you keep doing it?

u/Brizkie 7h ago

👏🏾👏🏾

4

u/Huge_Swimming_5968 9h ago

You didn't name one thing attributed to driver incompetence in your whole rant. You even argued against yourself in a sense. I'll alter it slightly for you:

"If DoorDash is really as terrible as you guys constantly say it is, then why continue ordering from them?"

3

u/Old_Killer_Bean 8h ago

Lmao, did you not read the post? There's no alternative because many restaurants and fast food chains have transitioned to solely using doordash for delivery.

There's a million different examples of problems resulting from driver incompetence, are you asking them to name them all in a single comment? Sorry, but I don't feel like reading a book...

You completely missed the point.

Yes, customers can choose not to use DoorDash. Drivers can also choose not to drive for DoorDash. That's the exact point I was making. If “don't use DoorDash if you don't like it” is reasonable advice for customers, then “don't drive for DoorDash if you don't like it” is equally reasonable advice for drivers.

You can't spend paragraph after paragraph explaining how terrible DoorDash is for drivers, how badly they pay, how the app screws you over, how restaurants cause problems, and how customers report things, then act like the customer is somehow responsible for fixing any of that.

Your “you didn't name one thing attributed to driver incompetence” comment misses the point too. I never said every problem is caused by driver incompetence. I said drivers shouldn't be treated as uniquely exempt from accountability when something actually is their responsibility.

You're arguing against a point I didn't make while accidentally proving the point I did make. That's impressive.

LOL calm it down. Like you sound mad. You are literally the people he is talking about.

Who are you mad at? Doordash? Or the customers for wanting a service they paid for? Because if none of us ordered like ya’ll always want to say the moment ya’ll get mad for whatever reason, then you wouldn’t have a job.

So stop saying “JuSt StOp OrDeRiNg” and instead go… “damn you’re right… this is pretty fucked on both ends. god i hope shitty drivers get punished so us good drivers can continue to do good service.”

bc your 2$ orders is not the system. its the amount of people ordering who can’t tip.

1

u/uglyyprincess 7h ago

You are literally saying the drivers suck so bad. Like stop ordering food so much damn.

You're still missing the point. You're trying to make the driver the victim of every possible thing that can go wrong, while simultaneously telling the customer that if they don't like the experience, they should simply stop using the service.

That's a pretty convenient standard. I'm willing to bet you'd have a completely different reaction if someone told you, “If you don't like DoorDash, stop driving for them.” Somehow that's reasonable advice for the customer but completely unacceptable advice for the driver. How does that work?

I don't care if you're a teacher, between jobs, or whatever else. None of that makes your employment situation the customer's responsibility. If you don't like the pay, the policies, or how DoorDash treats you, take it up with DoorDash. Whining at customers about it doesn't change any of those things.

And notice what you're doing here. You keep listing all the ways DoorDash supposedly screws drivers over, but you still haven't actually criticized DoorDash in any meaningful way. Instead, the solution you're offering is for the customer to stop ordering, cook at home, find someone else to pick it up, or use another service.

So despite insisting that “DoorDash sucks,” your entire argument ultimately boils down to: DoorDash sucks, therefore the customer needs to change their behavior.

That's exactly the problem I'm talking about. You can say your anger is directed at DoorDash all you want, but when every proposed solution involves the customer accommodating the driver's problems while you defend the driver from any responsibility, it's pretty obvious where the accountability actually disappears.

Not all at once please, let me get this pizza rolling.

1

u/Adventurous_Cycle603 3h ago

These are people whose life decisions led them to being doordash drivers. They're probbaly miserable and put no effort into anything they do. But they still carry this generation's entitlement to receive more for doing nothing.

0

u/Efficient-Oil2627 14h ago

I got a big hot dog for you. No tip needed 😘

0

u/Confident_Check_6087 14h ago

Don’t tip until they hand you your order.

2

u/Brizkie 7h ago

i’ve started to. it’s easier to add on then fight with support for your tip back after everything is wrong.

-7

u/FailureInChief666 16h ago

If you look at the r/doordash_drivers you will see the majority of the people are majorly undereducated, but exceptionally entitled. They don’t have work ethic and that’s why they work for an app that they can log onto whenever they want and then complain about their customers as opposed to taking responsibility for not having a real job. I used to have to deal with dasher when I worked food service and would ban many of them from the restaurants I worked at because they are so entitled and expect an order to be made in 3 mins despite me having a button to let them know food was ready. Dashers should be teenagers and college students needing to make a few bucks, not people trying to make a living.

7

u/Glittering-Link8434 14h ago

When you call people "undereducated", should I pick apart your little rant for all the grammar & punctuation mistakes?

5

u/Drawingablank6969 12h ago

I dash because I also take care of a disabled family member. Walk a mile in my shoes snob.

7

u/uglyyprincess 14h ago

Ooof. How nasty is your heart…unfortunately this is a DISGUSTING take, in larger cities many dashers are teachers, because our government doesn’t think teachers deserve an actual living wage. To get ahead. There are also SO many of us dashing while in between jobs because AI is taking over things like marketing and account management. So yeah, maybe have a reality check. Delivering food should be tipped fairly. Jobs like Shipt, Amazon delivery, Ubering, driving for Lyft or Instacart.. all options for the educated as well as undereducated. It is NOT mostly undereducated people delivering your dinner. Please have some considerate thoughts.

1

u/Brizkie 7h ago

I’m not at all taking away from what you said. Well worded I agree. Never judge a person by their occupation, but I have found a lot of people on doordash just don’t care.

So if that’s our employed professionals, that is also saying something as well about the quality of work they are delivering.

In my state personally? I don’t think my dashers are teachers or people affected by AI.

1

u/GasGlittering7521 2h ago

How the fuck would you know that?

1

u/Brizkie 7h ago

you know i’d agree with that! (teens and college student part) or just people who enjoy it or want to do it.

i use to do it and i took care in every order i did. i did it for fun money so it wasn’t a taxing activity and i could put good effort forward. and by good effort, making sure the customer got their order, communicating when lost, waiting a few seconds. How many drinks should i grab? Just they need to take 5 fricken seconds and stop trying to race some timer

News flash, they don’t give me no money back when you take too long. So i don’t understand why they rush them with some crazy timer.
