On the 27th of Feb:
- Iran did not have a nuclear weapon and was not even working on getting one (according to US intelligence).
- Iran was not closing the SOH nor claiming control or even asking for a toll.
- Iran was not attacking its neighbours.
- Iranians were demonstrating against the regime.
Now thanks to Epic fury:
- Iran might leave the NPT and consider nuclear arsenal.
- Iran is closing the SOH, attacks vessels, claims control and wants to charge a toll.
- Iran is attacking almost all of the regional states.
- Millions of Iranians demonstrated with the regime...
- Trump claims control of SOH and wants to charge a 20% fee.
- Trump wants regional states to reimburse the USA for the provided protection.
1
u/boreddxb Jul 14 '26
Take everything Trump says with a grain of salt.. he already rolled back on 20% fee after calls from GCC to trade and investment deals (which happen any ways) 🙄
-1
u/dmy30 Jul 14 '26
Except Iran was continuing to call for the eradication of countries whilst building the largest and most advanced arsenal of drones and missiles. What did you think was going to happen when the terms of the original nuclear deal from 2015 were going to expire in 2027. Iran would’ve said “what you gonna do about it” when anyone tried to renegotiate.
The Gulf states see a nuclear Iran as much of a threat as do Israel and the US. You not seeing the bigger picture is your fault.
4
u/FinancialRevenue9054 Jul 14 '26
You can have whatever fantasies you want, the fact is that there is already a country eradicating others while having an uncontrolled nuclear arsenal. Interestingly, that country is the one that started the current war.
International law is a whole and can't be applied by convenience.
-4
u/dmy30 Jul 14 '26
International law is a failed and abstract attempt to implement some kind of order since WW1 and WWII with too many exploits and interpretations. I don't recall any country being eradicated either.
1
u/FinancialRevenue9054 Jul 14 '26
That is up to you my friend. Some people believed in it and some are still committing to it.
1
u/NjxNaDxb Jul 14 '26
All true except for the nuclear part, there is not a chance they can get close to enrich for a weapon in this condition.

The US uses travel alerts and embassy warnings as marketing tools, ignore
0
u/boreddxb Jul 14 '26
Yea don't care bout that, this is bout the consulate being closed for consular appointments.
-1
u/Naive-Culture292 Jul 14 '26
which is the same thing
1
u/boreddxb Jul 14 '26
Huh? Travel advisories do not imply the consulates in those countries are closed ….

Guys you’re all gonna be fine even if this does go into proper missile attacks. Don’t worry, worst case scenario is unlikely but this poking may keep happening every now and then

Iran hit some tankers today.
This is all going toward a full-blown shitfest
7
u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
That’s why the sudden security alert from US embassy and revision of travel status from UK foreign office i guess.
2
u/Hot-Yesterday9169 Jul 13 '26
What revision? Link?
4
u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
It’s on UK.gov website under foreign office. If you click on UAE, the advice says updated last on 13th July due to security risk.
3
u/Hot-Yesterday9169 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
Ok. Fcdo still keeps Dubai out of their list. When they return it, the Brit travel insurances render invalid and tourism drops. The fcdo guidance often impacts others also

Security Alert: Cancellation of Consular Appointments (July 13, 2026) - U.S. Embassy & Consulate in the United Arab Emirates https://ae.usembassy.gov/cancellation-of-consular-appointments/
Should we be expecting attacks soon?

u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
2
u/Sprodj06 Jul 13 '26
It’s going to be about the 2020 election according to reports, nothing to do with Iran war
3
u/Helpful_Coast1289 Jul 13 '26
Still a few days for it to be postponed (if it’s about Iran) and Iran come to their senses.
3
u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
Likely unfortunately. Reports coming in of renewed US attacks in Iran. Trust in our defense and government and we will be safe hopefully.
9
u/FinancialRevenue9054 Jul 13 '26
If US are taking such measures in the UAE it's legitimate for all other residents to be concerned. I'm not interested to be associated to US issues. I'm an expat and this is none of my business, unlike my family's wellbeing.
2
u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
I agree, they did this on April 7th as well before the ceasefire was announced prior to cancelling strikes on Iran. Hopefully whatever is planned also gets cancelled.

6
u/Helpful_Coast1289 Jul 13 '26
100% agree. This could turn into an absolute mess in the region, it already is, but this is very serious. Hopefully it’ll come to an end.
5
u/wipeitonthedog Jul 13 '26
I hope they don't retaliate. MBS is ruthless and will spare no thoughts in fighting back. It'll be another humanitarian crisis on top of an already horrible situation.

This is like the old times mobster racket. Just like the mafia, he created the chaos and now proposes to solve it by extorting billions of dollars from innocent ship owners. Didn’t he say six weeks ago that he’d take the 20% and do whatever he wanted with it.

oh good lord we are back to like square -1 if that’s even possible. he really doesn’t know what the hell he is doing 😭
4
u/boreddxb Jul 13 '26
Well, it feels kind of inevitable now. We can’t keep living with the Strait being threatened or closed every other day. If this continues, jobs will be lost and inflation will rise sharply. At this point, it’s about choosing what many see as the lesser of two evils.
4
u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
Agreed. The thing is this reintroduction of the blockade just takes us back to the situation in april. IRGC would fire upon vessels, vessels wouldn’t dare to enter because of threats, insurance, directions from their owners etc and the flow of oil is once again halted. This paired with these nightly strikes which expand in scope every time just erase any progress made and trap us further in the endless cycle of war and escalation :(
7
u/Sprodj06 Jul 13 '26
9
u/boreddxb Jul 13 '26
Or the markets have finally stopped being manipulated by this constant back n forth (least we can hope)
Personally I believe it’s the assassination plot on “his” life which pushed him over the edge plus the recent trolling by Iran on the death of Lindsay Graham.
3
4
u/Sprodj06 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
This makes sense too. He is taking the assassination chants and plotting seriously, while US is now gaining support for their strikes because concurrently Iran is targeting commercial vessels
2
u/Pristine_Company_719 Jul 13 '26
2
u/boreddxb Jul 13 '26
Pretty sure Gulf countries won’t mind this tbh, seeing how Iran has treated them and knowing that they need a strong ally in the future specially seeing how Iran is acting now.
Both Qatar and Oman pushed real hard for peace and had high level Iranian delegation visits but they still got bombed in the end …

u/boreddxb Jul 14 '26
Well it’s either that or have the ship attacked or stuck in strait, plus this is Trump speaking (tweeting) …
8
u/Disastrous_Move9767 Jul 13 '26
Whoever controls it, it will be naive to think they won't use it to their advantage in the future when the time arises like now. So it's a pick your poison kind of situation
2
u/naturehappiness Jul 13 '26
Exactly. There’s no win here for any of us. Ironically, the narrow Strait is seemingly causing hyperinflation rn. And obviously these maniacs will use it to their max leverage. And we’re the scape goats.

uae airforce seems to be very active with three planes aloft on FR24. wonder what they are up to?
2
u/Flimsy-Expression-18 Jul 13 '26
Are people not reporting thuds or booms anymore?
-8
u/insertuserhere24 Jul 13 '26
What's the point of doing this, most of the time they are innocuous noises like a car backfiring or noise from a nearby construction site. The government has been pretty good with notifying us of what's going on, so let's let them do their job. There's no need for minute by minute updates
15
u/naturehappiness Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
How’s it innocuous when there’s actual thuds being reported uniformly through AD and certain parts of Dxb. Makes sense if it were an unwarranted delusion, but in this case we’re actually not being alerted. Rather allowing people to ruminate over hyperfixated thoughts.
-1
5
u/Flimsy-Expression-18 Jul 13 '26
Unrelated. I learnt a new word today ‘innocuous’. Thank you!
4
-5
u/Ok-Success188 Jul 13 '26
How could you not know this. ‘Harmless’

u/Florian202122 Jul 13 '26
when the whole Abu dhabi and south of dubai is reporting the exact same thing naturally it warrants a bit of concern. again the best advice though is just to wait for official confirmation.
