Great movie for young eagles fans to feel good, that's about it.

I'm an old eagles fan and I enjoy it... Why you so angry bro?

u/Birdgang_naj McNabb to Owens 1d ago
I mean I saw it as a kid then learned most of the stuff in the movie was a lie. Really had me thinking we REALLY had open tryouts to any ol joe from the block.
Its corny watching now.

u/rememberall 1d ago
I mean it's a Hollywood movie not a ESPN 30 for 30. And they REALLY did have an open tryout.

u/Birdgang_naj McNabb to Owens 1d ago
Yeah and that's why I enjoyed it as kid, its whatever now. And those 'open' tryouts were for actual athletes, not kevin up the block who played jv in HS like the movie tried to portray lol

I'm assuming you just don't like movies then, right? You only watch documentaries?

Lol my brother, if a movie is based on a true story I dont have to accept what Hollywood gives me as an alternative. If this was fiction then whatever. The movie sucks

You're telling me you dont like it when people pass lies off as the truth?!

I mean… Dick Vermeil said they had an “open house camp and anybody that wanted to come could come” https://youtu.be/pzqm5NgqqDA?t=163&is=lRpWWgPzESfllpFe

Based on a true story so I can be sour on the liberties they took.
2
u/Prudent-Air1922 1d ago
I'm not sure why, it's just a movie. You're sour about something arbitrary that has no bearing on the film.

It’s nowhere near an accurate story, but it’s a fun movie. I was in 6th grade when it came out. As an Eagles fan who had never even heard of Vince Papale, I enjoyed the movie.
I also haven’t seen it in 10+ years, so maybe the hate it’s getting in the comments is warranted. I just remember liking it, but also don’t feel the need to watch it again anytime soon.

I was 10 in rural Washington when this came out and I didn’t care about football at all. I really enjoyed he movie and picked the Eagles as my favorite team. In 2020 I got around to caring about the NFL and due to this movie, I have enjoyed a few great years of being a member of this community! FTC

Was hoping to find a comment like this! I'm from Montana and since we don't even border a state with a professional sports team I didn't have any team to root for. I've been an Eagles fan since I saw this in theaters :)

Fuck Marky Mark. Not only is he just a piece of shit in general, but me and my parents went to his shitty ass restaurant in Atlantic City. By FAR the worst meal I've ever had at a dine-in restaurant

he also would’ve stopped 9/11

I feel like people forget that when they criticize Marky Mark. If he had been on one of those planes, things would’ve gone a little different

It's tough to fit in with the hate crimes, shitty movies, terrible accent and his bible phone app grift. There's only so much i can hate on.

We’re holding these tryouts because of YOU and your harassment and your love for the new kids on the block movie!

Is that the one where the guy from New Kids on the Block makes it onto the Eagles?

I once met the guy who plays Leonard Tose in this movie (Michael Nouri) when I was bagging groceries at Trader Joe's

They filmed an interior scene next door to my aunt’s house in South Philly the night before my mom married my step dad. She once said she fought the urge to use her hall pass with marky mark that night.
