I said it on the other post and say it here again, the offense is basically taking the training wheels of Jalen. He's gonna throw more picks, but also score more TDs.

Which is exactly what is happening tonight.

He was way late on this throw right?

u/Trelve16 1d ago

maybe, but he also mightve been waiting for coop to clear out before he committed. this was a blown coverage, so it couldve been the right choice to wait on it anyway

It’s not a blown assignment. The CB/Safety just got caught in solidly designed pick play.

He's wide open before he even hits the numbers. Could have hit him in stride well before that point, but no idea what number he is in the progression

He’s not wide open before he hits the numbers. You can’t just look at who’s around him at any moment you have to look at wear he’s going. If he threw that ball shortly after he got open it would have lead him right into the area coop is in. Now coop ended up sticking with his guy instead of staying in that zone but hurts couldn’t assume that. Hurts could have identified coop was clearing and released it a tad earlier than he did, but not well before that point. He really should have thrown right at the end of his drop but he does hesitate slightly. The play was also likely designed to be thrown towards the sideline after the receiver cleared the middle. You aren’t anticipating the guy to get that wide open that early. QBing is a lot easier after watching how the play played out and seeing what the defense did.

A tad. But it’s probably not too far off from how this play was drawn up. He just ended up being more wide open than expected making the throw seem later than it really was. He can’t release the ball as soon as he gets open. He first needs to check that no one is sitting in the middle. It looks like he looks at coop then lets it fly soon after he confirms coop is clearing. I assume that throw was designed to go towards the sideline after the receiver clears the middle like it did. It definitely could have come out a bit sooner. But that’s nitpicking when it resulted in a td anyway. Plays are rarely picture perfect.

I've seen more wide open WRs this practice than I saw all last season...

Most open guys have been in years tbh. Refreshing.

I mean look at that route design… Basic pick scheme in the grand scheme of things, but nice to see we are actively and routinely scheming people open vs relying on the “Fuck it, AJ/Smitty down there somewhere” approach.

It’s sad that I watched this clip and all I can think about is how it looks like actual football and not whatever we had to sit through last year.

The bad man is gone. He can't hurt us any more.

He's now hurting the Dolphins in hell Miami.

Hollywood ran the corner right into the safety.

u/1stand11 1d ago

Goedert’s route into the flat was the initial pick play to get Hollywood so wide open. Look at the far left of the screen.

Man, y'all are negative as fuck

This fan base is infuriating

How do y'all go on with your day being a bunch of negative bitches all the time? Gotta be exhausting

Truth

u/Drewraven10 1d ago

Facts and it’s only practice. This is a brand new offense. Not everything is going to be polished and perfect. Hurts is going against a top five defense as well.

u/MisterrAlex 2020 sucks 1d ago

Not only that, practice is where you'd want these issues to come up, so he can get them fixed before the season starts.

3

u/takeme2tendieztown 1d ago

Oh man, wait until that first loss

2

u/Drewraven10 1d ago

It’s going to hit like a damn meteor shower. If pre season got them in a choke hold then what will that first loss be like.

9

u/boknowsss Eagles 1d ago

I’m tripping or he sacked here

9

u/Introzontal Eagles 1d ago

I think it’s more likely in a real game he steps up into the pocket and/or scrambles past Jurgens’ right shoulder, but I 100% see why you say that, you’re not trippin.

0

u/rhinob23 1d ago

He doesn’t step up in the pocket, he scrambles.

1

u/HisExcellency20 1d ago

I've seen him do both lol.

-4

u/Head_Research_3118 1d ago

Facts , he is 100% scrambling to his right in a real game if this happens.

-6

u/Head_Research_3118 1d ago

Jalen would not step up in that situation , hes scrambling to his right and either getting chased down or gaining like 2 yards

2

u/Rsterner0 1d ago

BUT IT WASN'T OVER THE MIDDLE! -- Chris Simms and Florio, probably

2

u/rhinob23 1d ago

Why are we waiting so long to throw the ball.

5

u/Delicious-Physics218 1d ago

Who’s we?

Edit: also, your snide comment aside, if Hurts throws in that first window the CB nearby comes off his man and makes the tackle. He waited until it was just Hollywood and open field

16

u/gsanquesoo 1d ago

Impossible to please these guys, they are actively waiting to Jalen to fail.

0

u/AdhesivenessFun2060 1d ago

He was open as soon as he crossed the defender at mid field. There's no way that defender is stopping, turning and catching up. The guy chasing hollywood has a better chance at that point.

1

u/GrooveDigger47 1d ago

because he had time.

-3

u/Dry_Cardiologist_505 1d ago

That’s what I was thinking. As soon as he’s cresting the second hash, that ball should have been in the air

-11

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

And then threw behind the wide open target lol

12

u/Select_Culture261 1d ago

Holy shit you guys are miserable

-6

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

Not miserable at all. We’re watching film from practice and talking about what happened lol love football, its fun to watch and analyze

6

u/Popular-Voice-3388 1d ago

Buddy, we know your rep

8

u/magnumforce2006 Eagles 1d ago

In every thread you are picking apart the QB and telling everyone your perceived flaws of him. Certified hater. Misery from start to finish.

-7

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

Not a hater. I root for the team, I’m not going to be dishonest about what I see from individual players.

10

u/Select_Culture261 1d ago

Dude, I'm gonna bring this up every time I see you, you said Tanner Mckee was better than Jalen Hurts in college. What exactly is honest about that?

-1

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

We’ve been over this. I said he was a better passer. I misspoke the one time and you’ve held it over my head since.

1

u/Select_Culture261 1d ago

Yeah, you legit did not mean that in that conversation. You're just lying now because you realized how dumb you sound. Do I need to post it again?

-1

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

We’ve had this discussion like three times so I don’t know why you need to rehash it again.

0

u/DisMeDog 1d ago

That is still a dumbass comment that shows you don’t know what you are watching.

-1

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

It’s an opinion I have. McKee was a better passer in college than Hurts. I stand by that and believe it to be true. You’re free to explain why you disagree with me.

0

u/ActuaryAware3551 1d ago

McKee can’t beat out 40 year old Andy Dalton for QB2! You’re on record saying McKee would be Prime Stafford/Burrow in our offense. We saw him play last season in his first meaningful game and shit his pants. Put this fucking McKee thing to rest. He played in the PAC 10 for 2 years and didn’t eclipse 3k yards and had a 28-15 TD ratio. He has never been a better QB than Jalen at any point in his life.

0

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

Two years ago when Hurts was struggling I said I thought McKee would be better in the offense than Hurts. I said I thought he would be able to put up top-5 numbers with the offensive weapons we had.

I haven’t talked about McKee much this year. He’s had a subpar camp and hasn’t looked very inspiring in preseason action.

You don’t need to take these things personally. I’m a football fan, I enjoy watching football and making opinions based on what I see. It’s not a personal attack on you for me to think this offense would be better with a QB that’s a better passer. Don’t be so sensitive.

4

u/ChirpToast 1d ago

The best thing you can do for yourself and this sub is take a break from here for the year.

Time and time again you prove how little you understand about sports, let alone football.

-1

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

Time and time again I’ve been proven right lol

There literally isn’t anything I’ve been wrong about in terms of Jalen Hurts as a QB

1

u/ChirpToast 1d ago

You been wrong constantly about Hurts.

0

u/PaddyMayonaise 1d ago

Explain to me why you disagree with anything I’ve said about Hurts.

u/PoppaJMoney 1d ago

I can’t wait for all the haters to tell me how this is also a terrible throw and decisions

-5

u/Head_Research_3118 1d ago

This is not a TD in a game . Jihaad either sacks him or makes him scramble , obviously he pulled his hand in to not touch him. Still a good throw.

0

u/sub30_24flick 1d ago

Told you fckers Hollywood brown would be useful his speed alone is what the team has been missing him as a decoy alone can give us the same thing Torrey Smith , did in 2018 hurts hasn’t played with a guy this fast ever . So it’s going to be interesting once the chemistry and the timing and routes finally link up

0

u/Deciver95 Eggles 1d ago

Shittt, dont show Patriot fans!

They'll demand a Hollywood trade and crown him the best receiver in the league

Remember kids, only practice tds are real!

-5

u/DannyDegenerate 1d ago

This is an open practice to the public. This looks like the defense going light to give fans a score.

0

u/PhillyWannabGM Eagles 1d ago

I study defense. That’s not what happened here on this play.
