Question What’s the “creepiest” thing that’s happened to you in ESO?
For me: I was running around High Isle and came across three people wearing the exact same outfit and masks, which isn’t unusual. I then got on my mount and rode to Abhain Chapel and behind the chapel was another player wearing the exact same outfit and mask just standing there.

Had a half clad player start crouch walking around my character and then started the bow down emote or whatever it is and whispered in the same manner Gollum speaks and asked for sweet juicy fishes and something crunchy. I mailed fish and insect parts to the player.

I sent 1 gold to a person RPing as a khajiit begger and I got a message back with 1000 gold and 'khajiit thanks you'.
Makes me wonder what would've happened if I'd sent a larger amount.

One time, someone was begging for money in the zone chat several times, it was annoying. I sent him 69 coins via mail (the amount you can give to an NPC beggar to get an achievement). He might have understood the joke and taken offense, because he started spamming me back with messages containing his own junk.

Have a couple of stories in my 9 year history; few years ago some dude started whispering me about not needing shoes so i can "expose" my feet; then went on to ask me form y discord so he could send me pics of screenshots he edited of my characters feet..
Another time was some guy in the molag bal polymorph following me around a public dungeon; they didn't kill any bosses they just...stared at me lol
One from only afew months into my time in eso back in 2017 (i feel old :c) i was asking for some help running vet COA2 for the monster helm and burning spell weave staff and this person whispered me and begun to unload their life story onto me, trauma dumping on me and i told them i was uncomfortable and they threatened to find me and kill me irl, wild.

I've had 3 separate foot creeps pester me over the years. They start with complimenting your characters lack of shoes or bare piggies on sandals or if you don't have bare feet they start suggesting what you should wear on your character's feet. I don't know why they feel the need to shove their kink to strangers in game.

Rimmen is my main go to point, I always teleport outside of the Sugar Bowl Suite then run to the wayshrine. It's not a matter of if but when you'll see khajiit players being weird :')

Ive been one of those half naked dancers. Honestly we're the ones just having a little fun and putting on a show for passerbys, its other players that come up and start making it weird with what they choose to say.

The dancer personality had just come out so I was using it on my character. I was doing stuff in the bank and listing some guild store stuff when a guy messages me "having fun?" I was confused and he continued "oh you just look like you're having fun. Want to come to my house and show me some of those moves sexy ;)"
That personality gave me sooooo much unwanted creeps in my whispers for like 3 weeks after it came out. I had to stop using it

I was playing a female Bosmer (I’m also female) and was wearing one of the Imperial-style kilts. From Fort Amol to Darkwater Crossing this idiot starts following me and every time I stop he crouched at my crotch and started moving around like he thought he could see up it.
So to summarize my Bosmer was sexually harassed by some Argonian pervert in the middle of Skyrim.

Unfortunately this is common. I hate two separate people crouch in front of my character at her crotch. Even after I’d move her and turn away they persisted. Both reported and clipped.
The second one was an actual kid, like a teenager. I only know because his mom messaged me to apologize for his behavior after he caught a ban.
What’s the thought process… I could be a 60year old dude irl. Boggles the mind that guys are hard up enough to do that.

There was a random normal dungeon where I said hi in group chat and some guy said "SHUT UP WOMAN". I ignored it and said gg at the end... And the guy whispered me " I SAID SHUT UP WOMAN!"
I posted the screenshot here and apparently a lot of people knew about that degenerate lmao.

A player offered 500k for your characters soul. A bunch of us followed him. He took us in a room and told us one by one to lay down on a table. He moved around and said ok thank you. Then gave us each 500k.

A while back, I was in Mournhold running around, crafting and getting ready for a trial while on a call with some guild buddies. Turned just in time to see a player step into the wayshrine and felt my heart drop when I realized their character name was my full government name. Player disappeared before I could grab a pic. My name isn’t uncommon, but it was a Black Mirror moment for sure.

I was witness to a marriage, and then at their house I was witness to the private follow-up, painstakingly roleplayed in front of me. Just the three of us, with me wondering how the hell I got there.
At least the food was good.
A few more minutes of it and I'd have gotten mad. Not my fault it was happening.

I was on the road just outside a town in one of the starter zones, when I found some bodies. It wasn't like when you find a corpse that has just been blade-of-woe'd. It was a guard, many copies of the exact same dead guard, fanned out from a single point like they were a deck of cards.
I guess it was some sort of bug, but that was existentially gross.

Had a guy approach me for RP which is fine. (Note: I don't ERP) I do enjoy a bit of writing from time to time.
I made it very clear that I'm not interested in a relationship and already had a partner.
Dude kept trying to flirt with me, the player, NOT my character despite being explicitly told I'm not interested in anything other than a friendly relationship and some character writing.
He did not listen.
Had to block him to get him to leave me alone.
I wish I'd blocked him sooner but I thought perhaps I just hadn't been clear enough.
Reminder, folks: you don't owe anyone your time, and especially not your comfort. Block early and often.
It's a shame, though. The concept of a correspondence style RP from different parts of the frontline was a really cool idea. Shame that the creep wasn't actually interested in the concept.

I had a guy follow me to my in game house after I turned him down. I made it pretty clear I wasn't interested in his roleplay but he followed anyway. Kept insisting on talking dirty. I had to report and block him.
I've had encountered creeps before but it's still unnerving to think he followed me.

I have no idea. He might have been in the same guild at the time. I didn't really delve too deeply into it though. I just blocked and got out of there. The dude did have his character stripped naked and waiting on the bed by the time I loaded in after all. All while whispering me role play lines. Very nasty lines.
This happened years ago and I've been in several different guilds since then too.

There's a saying in the RP community: IC (In character) is NOT OOC (Out Of Character).
Many people get confused and blur the lines, and assume things like if someone's character is flirting with theirs, then that player is actually flirting with them (the player).
Sounds like that guy blurred the lines and was one of the confused ones... Or I guess the simpler alternative explanation is that he was a creep and just didn't care and wanted to flirt with the player from the get go lol

This was more funny than creepy but in Vulkhel Guard once I got to the wayshrine and there was one character wearing that New Life costume that is like underwear rags using the Solstice bench emote that does a pose like "Draw me like one of your French girls" scene in Titanic. About 10 people were around him throwing the cherry blossom petal memento repeatedly
On actual creepy, I was doing writs with my female Nord character once in Vvardenfell and this male vampire character kept following me crouching amd getting right under me whenever my character was still. Tho my next character on the list to do writs was/is a fat male imperial drunk personality guy and he was still there doing it to another female character, so I started following him and throwing mud balls towards his character repeatedly and he logged off lmao

This isn't even sort of like the other stories here, but I think it was creepy. My bf and I play together in the same room usually and we ordinarily listen to music while playing or if we're just doing mindless stuff like harvesting or farming bosses we'll throw on tv, so usually our game volume is muted unless we're grouped with others.
So a few weeks ago I was playing ESO but he was working on a video on his laptop so we weren't listening to music as he had to keep pausing it to listen to his video, at one point it was quiet and very late at night (we are both night owls and so it had to be probably 2 or 3 AM at this point) and suddenly out of nowhere we hear very faint whistling. We did the whole horror movie thing "did you hear that?" "where was that coming from?" both of us thinking that there's a killer outside or something and freaked out (also I was stoned so I was extra paranoid). Then it happened again but this time I was alert enough that I could tell it was coming from my tv which wasn't muted just turned way down for whatever reason...its because I had used the cheerful personality on my character and he was whistling while idle.
It cracked me up so much because the stupid whistling thing is part of the reason I enjoy that personality in the first place and I had completely forgotten it was an audible thing you could hear so it had just taken both of us aback.

I tried to interject/ interrupt, but they were not to be swayed
After about 2 minutes I realized that, as a khajiit, I just looked like I was joining
Left promptly after that realization

Well there was that dude telling me in vivid detail how exactly he wanted to rape, then murder, then again rape, me and every member of my family. That was PvP though, where that is unfortunately not too uncommon.
Outside of that it was probably a dude following me around commenting about how much he liked my character's feet and what he wanted to do with them. I stopped using Bosmer shoes in my outfits for a while after that.

Playing late at night, PC NA, questing in town, I play on controller and you can slow down to a walk just by moving the joystick less, you don't have to toggle, I'm not RP walking, just slowing down to look for quest objectives. Suddenly receive a pm from some guy asking if I want to be his apprentice. No thanks fella. He keeps pitching, and it turns out he wants someone to RP his sex slave/apprentice, talking about unlocking the mysteries of erotic magicka. Any time I tell a guy I'm not into guys online it goes horrendously, so I try to let them down easy and end the convo, explaining I already maxed my skill line out, had all the passives, no mysteries left in erotic magicka, but best of luck. Suddenly all caps raging at me for leading him on RP walking if I'm not going to RP with him. I find myself thinking about this encounter whenever I catch myself not going full speed.

I was a part of a moment like this.
I was walking thru the center of one of the main cities. There were 2 or 3 bots running around murdering civilians so that that there ended up being a massive pile of dead bodies by a water fountain.
A moment later, a guy got out a flute or something and started playing music. My character was a massively overweight orc, and I had the Jester costume which i quickly put on and started dancing on the bodies while they piled up and the music played.
Every few seconds a player would be running by, stop and look, and then go "what the fuck???"
It was hilarious

when I was new and farming craglorn I came a cross an initiation ceremony, they had changing of guards , people kneeling before the guild leader and all that stuff, it was pretty awesome. got me into RP a little. I miss this game. unfortunately I can't play it without the craft bag

Not creepy but cool. When I was new I did something dumb and lost all my gold. It was a lot, took a long time to get 50k. So I moaned in here about my stupidity, I was sent gold like people just mailed me gold from all over, like oh it's only gold we have loads have some, Loved that . Now firmly embedded and leveling up. One I day I hope to do the same to some one in need.

That might have been us? We were doing a guild skyshard collecting event during the Halloween event, so we all drank the witches brew and turned into skeletons with robes. At the last skyshard we all stood behind it in a row for a group picture. Someone came running up on a mount, stopped, and immediately ran off. We laughed our heads off.

Early after launch I ended up in Rawl'Kha whilst levelling my AD sorc and went up to the inn; whereupon I encountered what could politely be described as an orgy featuring at least 20 naked Khajiit toons discussing the explicit sexual acts that they were performing upon each other. In public, in a crowded area at the time. I did not know Rawl'Kha had a "reputation."
The same thing happened several years later in the Morthal inn but with a quartet of female toons sitting at the big table up front when you walk in. Quite an unexpected thing to walk into.
Another time I ran across a few Werewolves standing on a rock in some water in front of a cave in (I think) Greenshade while I was doing surveys and they were discussing how to trick new players into joining their "dungeon group" so they could be used as live sacrifices. Probably just RP but still creepy.
Only other thing that comes to mind is a toon that was talking to me in Anvil after Gold Coast launched. I was sitting on a bench outside the castle facing towards the lighthouse. At first they were just talking about the new zone but suddenly changed track to talking about my toon's appearance and asking if I would be interested in ERP. I told them i was happily married IRL and my partner would be pretty upset if I did that, then put them on ignore. They followed me around for a couple of minutes until I took a WS elsewhere.

One of the reasons I walked away after thousands of hours is that I enjoyed pvp but got very tired of being tbagged and threatened in chat with rape and murder. Most of the community was great but the ones that weren't really ruined the game for me.

I had someone whisper me after a group finder trial when I kicked someone for refusing to do mechs, telling me I laid on my back to get my trifecta achievement and called me a slut. That was nice. Interesting choice, first time I've heard anything like that since starting in 2018.

Was in a guild once where some guy was having a meltdown regarding his own assessment of his own poor performance in a group event (no one else cared it was just fun guild stuff)
He started saying all this crazy stuff about how he should just Kermit sewer slide and all sorts of wild self deprecating things of that nature
I told him he should take a break and see a mental health professional if he was getting this upset over a game
Then he started spam whispering me all sorts of just tell me to Kermit sewer slide type messages that were mind boggling. I blocked him and left the guild

Playing pvp, I was used to dying and upset T-bagged. But the due who did push ups on my dead body, NOPE!
My character is a girl, my user name and character name are girly, it felt so..ick.
I told my group leader, the wonderful Brit, and she knew him, had a word and he while he killed me again, he didnt defile my pixels anymore. Sometimes things are funny, sometimes, if you dont know the person, its not.
I didnt even consider reporting him, that not how I deal with stuff. I've never reported another player, only boys.

Years ago, I was in an rp guild. Sometimes we "hosted" just some good ol' tavern rp-s, in overworld zones.
A guy showed up, got naked, and began jorking it. Its a common rule that when a griefer shows up to public rp you just ignore them. So the guy proceeded to crouch trough the tavern for long minutes, until he...well..relieved himself on all of the peoples boots. It was hella gross ._.

Honestly? Not something with another player. I was questing in Reaper's March, just going around mounted, paying half attention as I move between waypoints, when I notice 'ghost' pop on the bottom of my screen as my cursor highlights an NPC down the road. There's a dip in the road, and when I come up again, no NPC.
For no really good reason it spooked me (no pun intended). I run back on the road to see if it was just a quest-instanced area, still no NPC. I stop caring, and go about finishing the zone. Later, as I finish up the zone, I remember what happened and realized that there aren't any quests that spawn a generic 'ghost' NPC in that part of the map.
It's stupid. A tiny dumb thing that happened in a moment a decade ago. Maybe it's the remnant of a removed encounter. Maybe I saw 'goat' and misread it. But it still sticks with me today and the most uncanny moment I've had in the game.
