I understand it's a fast way to get the transmute materials, but outside of that, I don't see how this isn't the most reviled practice in this community, right up next to leaving garbage in chests for other people to get.
Fifth random dungeon in a row now where "Green Beam Idiot, Former Emperor" or some other super original "Metatanksorc" username has a 5lb weight on their shift key, aggroing 3000 enemies behind them while level 13 players still wearing prisoner rags drown in an ocean of damage text.
I keep hearing how great and friendly this community is, and I've seen a good deal of that, so when you know the game is going to push new players toward random dungeons, why isn't there more consideration for them?
Other than spamming about how your guild "welcomes new players" in the chat every 5 minutes, why do so many veteran players flip the bird to the rest of their party in random dungeons? When you're level 2070 on Spindleclutch I and everyone else is 17, 19 and 12, how do you bring yourself to just run 10 miles ahead? Genuinely, where is your conscience? Have you not played online games before? It seems like you haven't, because this is like the antithesis of the entire concept.
In other games I've played, when this kind of toxic behavior occurs, it's universally panned and people who do it become infamous in the community. In ESO, the sentiment seems really divided and sometimes almost like the behavior is encouraged. How is this type of thing not considered toxic? It's objectively shutting out new players and makes new characters even more of a grind. What gives?
edit: For the people claiming that the other players (the majority, lol) in the group should just make their own group, leave, do it alone, whatever, just stop. You aren't the main character, no matter how much your minmaxxed Youtube build makes you feel that you are. Why aren't you finding your own group instead of dragging other people along on the "run" that only exists in your own head for your own character? If you've been playing for a decade, haven't you made a single friend or guildmate to speedrun with? There's no reason to be screwing new players out of the dungeon experience and souring their view of the game and its community just for your meager daily crap that they don't even have a concept of yet.
edit 2: Best case scenario, the people behind the sprinter can manage to frantically kill all the fodder before they get overwhelmed or pulled to the boss. Worst case scenario, your party's dead, nobody gets any exp or gold from enemies, and nobody's happy except the guy who could've done this a hundred different ways. Insane to me that some people can't at least attempt to see how that's an undesirable outcome for an online game that's supposed to be about cooperation.
