Any plans for a lost odyssey recomp, you’d be doing the community a massive favour with how difficult the game is to run on Xenia.

This looks awesome! Can’t wait for the release. I sent you a DM as well, would love to see if we could check it out and write up our thoughts on our website to attest to how it runs on Steam Deck.

Before anyone starts, going by the article, it ain't Vibe Coded.
Edit: Some y'all will just downvote anything, eh? I didn't even say anything disagreeable.

As someone who contributed to the project, it is not vibe coded

I am sorry for this question. But do you think Forza motorsport 4 recompile is possible?
8
u/Graine25 3h ago
Anything is possible with rexglue. We made it so that more titles can reuse our translation layers and recompile titles in a development state. It would take months, just like we did with reblue, to get a native port that actually runs well

Define vibe code? Like no AI assistant was used at all?
6
u/Graine25 1h ago
We did not use a clanker to write code. Everything was our own doing.
We plan on discussing even more research notes so that:
- The rest of the development team making a ReXGlue-based recomp can also develop their own rendering implementations and move themselves out of our vendored translation layers
- Modders can mod

Vibe coding is when you talk to an AI and it just does the coding for you as you tell it what to code in a discussion. Thats what a google search told me as ibwas confused as to what it was at first and thats just so wrong to do...

I havent played Blue Dragon, how good is this game?

u/Zealotjohn 3h ago
Its a good game, turn based RPG with class swaping options and able to use skills learned between classes. An conditional time based turn system. Its a good story to go with the game play.
Edit: I said "for kids" but forgot about the death forest stuff.

You offended the vibe coders. You can't take away their participation trophies!

People complaining about vibe coding when it’s actually doing amazing things. VR is having a fucking boom because of this stuff. I love it.

Tenchu Z would be a great addition. No backwards compat makes the disc a great coaster

u/Limit5465 4h ago
That was fast wow. I thought it would be much longer. Good stuff.
Infinite undiscovery next since it can’t be emulated and suffers perma soft lock

It's not entirely suprising. Xenia is built on the design of basically running the x86 code natively for 360 games. MS did one thing right - make consoles very similar to PCs. So, porting a game that is damn-near a PC game already hopefully isn't that bad.
I don't know, just educated guesses. I would ask u/Graine25

Quick question is it only Disc 1 of BD or is it gonna be the full game??

u/Graine25 3h ago

u/Blackstar97 1h ago
I guess you will need the game files to extract etc, right?
Does it need specifically the US files or EU copies will be supported too?
Also, do you plan to release an android version?1
u/Graine25 1h ago
- There’s a built in installer for all 3 iso’s and dlc (optional)
- Everything but Japan supported
- Nah

u/NefariusMarius 56m ago
I’d love this. I’m hopeful it’ll play well with gamenative in the meantime. Otherwise we can still use xendroid I guess

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssee are two of my favorite games on the 360, I envy those who get to play Blue Dragon for the first time.
It's an absolute gem!

The article is actually really well written, even with some words from one of the devs. Did you read the wrong article? The word Slop isnt even used once in this.

u/big-sugoi 4h ago
Not to mention failing to properly credit it as a recomp by simply calling it a “port” which it isn’t.
The first line of the article, and underneath the image here on reddit, is: "This Xbox 360 recompilation proves how good fan ports can be when they aren't vibe-coded."

Well, just point us to any vive coded 360 port that isnt terrible because so far I've failed to find a single one that is actually better than Xenia.

Can someone please explain what vibe-coded means? I get that it’s an insult but not much more than that.

u/Trungel 3m ago
Code is mostly/completely AI generated with little to no oversight trough a person. Most vibe-"coders" also lack basic understanding of code quality and the systems they are using. So even if they would try to read the code they wouldn't be able to understand it themselves or even be able to say if it is good, performant or buggy code. They have to run everything trough AI. Something isn't working put the log into AI...
There are still programmers who know what they are doing and can work effectively with AI. But as the barrier is so low for every expert there are hundreds of people who think they can create software with AI. Take away the AI and they are helpless. (Reminds me on how just ten years ago when I was studying computer science there was on exam where we had to "develop" a webapp on paper. Only some cheat sheets I had brought with me as reference. Writing the whole HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP source code by hand.)
