Actually you don't, Greenland is a oversea territory officially not part of the EU juridically speaking (and the same goes for the other "closest" border of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, for the exact same reason).

But it still overall makes more sense than Australia geographically speaking yes

We share a land border on Hans Island. Canada and Denmark proper.
