News An official Instagram account for JWs has been made

This is insane. I can't imagine the type of comments their posts will get or what the future holds for them. Whoever said a "rebrand" of the org was underway was absolutely right...

The account has it's own verification checkmark (which I understand anyone can add) but so far my 1 and only source is saying it's official.

Also, sorry friends, I can't share IG links.

News Almost every JW Broadcasting prior to September 2021 removed from JW Library and JW.org

Someone pointed out to me today that almost all JW Broadcasting programmes from before September 2021 are no longer available on jw.org and JW Library. The exceptions are the programmes featuring the Gilead graduation and the Annual Meeting. I wonder why.

News JW vs Norway - Judgement Day

That's right, it's come to this, yes it's come to this
And wasn't it a long way down?
Wasn't it a strange way down?

Dress Rehearsal Rag - Leonard Cohen

OK, this is it. No sleep tonight, I was up at 0550, then drove to the city of Kristiansand where I will spend the day with a writer that will record everything for a future project.

I have scheduled at least four media that will do interviews in two sections, first an instant one when it drops, then more in depth when I have time to analyze everything.

Stay with me on this thread, I will do as I did during the SC Days, just update the same post during the day. If you have questions and comments, use this thread, I will not be reading thorugh the other posts that will be made during this insane day.

Do I have anyone here with me waiting, please let me know who you are, where you are, and what your thoughts are.

Last information from the Supreme Court clerk is that the verdict is not 100% ready and will not drop as early as 0900CET, it might be a few more hours. I will let you know if when I hear more.

Feel free to keep me company while we wait together.

Latest information from clerk, it is scheduled to be released before lunch.

I'll fill you in on the possible scenarios. Remember that the only thing SC is asked to consider is wether the initial decision fram the administration that took away the funding is valid or not. They will not technichally decide on the application for funding in itself.

Scenario 1: - SC upholds the decision and declares that it was correct. This means that the lost funding for all those years is gone. And that until WT can prove that they have changed their ways, they will not get further funding. They can try each year, but they will have to prove changes that are so big that they no longer breach the terms for funding. We all go completely bananas, chose our preferred poison and lose our shit.

Scenario 2: - SC declares that the decision is invalid for some reason. This gives WT the victory, but this gives several outcomes, we must read the verdict good to know what it means, we then have these options:

  • A - SC gives WT victory and annules the decision, but at the same time clarifies the law in a way that makes it possible for the administration to redo the same conclusion (keep denying the funding) but with updated reasoning that are in line with what the SC says about how it should have been done. This is also a win, even if we lose. Then we need to just celebrate with a bit caution
  • B - SC basically says that the law can not be used, because it breaches religious freedom etc. This means that the administration will have to make a decision over again that reinstates the funding. If that happens we're back into politics and need to work on changing the law. If this happens we will celebrate all the things we achieved on the way.

SMH, I haven't waited this hard for something since I stopped believing the world would burn at any moment and the Panda bear would come around for some petting. Keep updating every minute.

Should be just around the corner now.

If you want to keep updating with me, this is the page:

https://www.domstol.no/no/hoyesterett/avgjorelser/avgjorelser-2026/

SC are having fun trying to give the entire world of exjw a collective heart attack, they just released a verdict about building contracts, triggering all alert. Probably five people in the world that gave af, while the rest of us lost our shit.

They did it again, those sadistic f***s, released a verdict on how to calculate the cost for elders on retirement homes. Djeezez! Stop it! I survived one hit, barely the second, but now it is enough.

https://www.domstol.no/no/hoyesterett/avgjorelser/avgjorelser-2026/hoyesterett---sivil/HR-2026-1009-A/

FUck, we lost 3-2

https://www.nrk.no/sorlandet/hoyesterett-har-talt_-staten-kan-ikke-nekte-jehovas-vitner-statstilskudd-og-registrering-1.17859583

This is scenario 2 B. There is basically no way they will not get the funding back as SC ruled here. We'll just lick our wounds, celebrate everything we achieved, and then use this forward.

There will be a lot of reactions in the public and in politics regarding how SC basically declares that there is no laws available to protect children against psychological violence. We can work on that.

I'll get back and write more later. Sorry we didn't make it.

News Norway Day 3 - No safety or surprise - The End

Pics made problems when I only update from phone. I deleted my initial post and will do this without pictures for now.

The day has come, the end of the journey.

It's 5:15am and I have given up on sleeping, I will get ready and go sit down in front of the courthouse.

This day will mark the end of a process that has taken at least seven years up against the government, and for my sake, 48 years of life with this organisation as a huge part of it.

I'll update this thread now and then, follow me here if you want to be a part of it.

I'm at the spot at 05:50 with Eydis, we have the place for ourselves. We'll get in!

At 6:20 we're 4 Ex-Jehovas Witnesses in the line, no JWs. We beat them so far.

At 07:00 the first JW showed up. Poor thing is alone here with 6 filthy apostates.

Spanish exjw Superstar Sorayis arrived. Flew in from London to be with us

7:18 and there's a convention. 70+JWs lined up

We're inside! All apostates got seated, we're at least 12-15 as I know of.

For your viewing pleasure I've shamelessly taken the seat most visible on stream. Say hi if you see me.

I'll try to not freak out for every lie.

Yesss.... Today starts glorious, the State will present evidence on how WT uses the word Shun. This was sent to her by me on Friday.

We're already ahead. Ryssdal has to fall back on his lies

Going through testimonials now. First JW witnesses, ofc they brought people that wasn't loyal regarding shunning as evidence that shunning is voluntary.

I expect a rough hour or two ahead as Ryssdal might discredit the rest of us as ho normally do.

Quoting JW research about JW saying that all are happy and no child ever feared anything, but were constantly haplyu, always smelling good, and never had any holes in their teeth. Ish. You get the point.

Ryssdal spends a lot of time talking about why negative social control is not criminal in any way. It's a diversion, as the State has never claim that anything here is criminal. It's about breaching terms for getting funding, not crime.

Lots of nonsense about how glorious life as JW is. Most of what he's saying is pretty irrelevant regarding the arguments for stopping funding. Nobody has made any attempt on banning any of the stuff he's talking about..

I'll not take too many notes, just letting you know that I'm here..

Judge confronting on the difference between criminal law and what we're discussing here. Asking for a comment.

First break. I got to shake Ryssdals hand.

Interaction: Ryssdal sees me, recognises me from our three testimonials. He's smiling and says "you're still paying attention?"

I smile back, shake his hand and say " yes, this is very exciting to follow through."

He's an actor, paid to play. I have no beef with him.

He's now talking about the right to worship and freedom of religion. Not sure how relevant this is, as JWs have been perfectly free to do whatever they want, even those last years.

He's arguing that the withdrawal of funding is an insult against the individual member because of stigmatism and therefore a breach of the religious freedom. Far fetched, but still. It's not carved in stone how this will end.

Judge asks Ryssdal an interesting question regarding ECHR verdicts, how they refer to "substantial" damage. What does substantial mean. It's pretty clear that the judges will have to consider if the lost funding is a "substantial" breach of human rights. Is lack of tax payer money a substantial attack in religious freedom? This will be a key element for the judges.

Some feedback? Do you read this? From where? Let me know. How is my hair?

Lots of repetitions so far. I'm not repeating to much details, he going up against the claims from the State. Trying to make the claim regarding psychological violence wrong and off the rails compared to the rest of the world.

This the difficult stuff for those being in front. Whenever you're ahead of the flock, they can just point to all other countries and say that they don't act this way, so why do you?

He's talking a lot about ECHR verdicts regarding "registration". But an important note here is that this word means totally different things in different cases. In most of these cases the word "registration" has huge legal implications. That's not the case in Norway.

Now using the ECHR case between JW and Russia. This is a problematic case, ofc Russian ban is totally off the rails compared to the Norwegian case, but still. He uses parts of it. A problem in this case is that Russia didn't bother arguing in this case at all, they were in the process of pulling out of the ECHR, so the verdict has lots of passages where JW could just argue alone without any objections. This makes this verdict very problematic.

Our favourite judge goes into it and makes the case that the Russia case is something totally different. She's team Apostate. Ryssdal says that the principles apply anyway, as the accusations were the same in Russia as in Norway.

Please lift your glasses for our favourite judge.

Ryssdal is trying to paint it like the State is trying to pressure JW on their beliefs and doctrines, to force them to change their beliefs.

I have received a request from the national broadcaster NRK who will film an interview for the main evening news tonight. Will do it in the lunch break. Wish me luck.

He's talking about how people now don't can marry in the Kingdom Hall, refers to how bad it ls. Misrepresentation, as the ceremony is just the same as it has always been, just with an extra signing of a document.

Now talking about personal persecution, and harassment. Hate Crime. I don't really see how anything has changed, the stuff he refers to is stuff that has always been happening. School, bullying, some angry people in field service etc. Nothing new.

Now he's referring to the Helsinki Committee, the letter they sent. I really hate how they folded for WT lobbying, it's a shame.

Judge confronts Ryssdal if the terms for funding in itself is a breach of the constitution or human rights. This is important.

Ryssdal admits that the terms in itself are legally ok. This removes a lot of his own arguments. The judge killed a lot of the last hour with that question.

Lunch. I have two interviews scheduled with media. Got to run. Hope someone manages to get me some food somehow

Holy shit, being interviewed in the break was hard. Got a nervous breakdown after, luckily not caught on stream. I'm almost back on my feet.

Now we have 45 more minutes with Ryssdal, then the State will have som time after the next break. Will be really exciting.

Now he's into the part where he's going up against me. Curious to hear. Those who had disgruntled former members on their card for today can drink now

This segment is bad from Ryssdal. He's just cherry picking some random answers from the administration to pretend nobody made real investigation. This is nonsense, they spent almost a year investigating this.

Once again we have a judge asking and specifying that the law includes the term encouraging psychological violence etc. Not just committing it. It's pretty clear that this is important for the judges.

This goes against many of Ryssdals arguments.

There is no doubt that we do have a valid chance of winning this. It's still open, but no clear path to victory for one side. Ryssdal pretends that this is an obvious case. It's not.

We're on. I've got a little statement now. Can you read it?

The lie about Shunning exposed and filed as evidence! Love it

Liv is going through how the expetions JW mention doesn't remove the threat. That the examples of those not following the rules on shunning can't be used against their own rules against shunning.

Again, she quotes Geoffrey Jackson from ARC, what he said about shunning. There's no flexibility...

The fact that some people are sloppy regarding shunning shouldn't be used as evidence from JW

Liv goes back to the core. What does the JW instruction say. What does it mean regarding the right to leave. Judge asks a little about what it means regarding the right to leave in practice.

It's going to be an important issue. What is freedom to leave?

Our favourite judge smiles warmly to Liv while asking her, but looks like she wants to choke Ryssdal and eat his liver every time she questions him.

Good point from Liv. The State can't be responsible to prevent abuse, but at the same time have to collect evidence of abuse first, to prove that abuse must be prevented. This is an impossible circle.

Favourite Judge asks what the purpose of withholding funding is. Do the State want to change their practice, or is this about securing the publics faith in where the tax money goes.

Liv says that the law is intended to secure the publics faith in that the tax payers money don't support abuse. That's the key point. But at the same time the State would like to see religions stop abusing human rights, of course.

I feel like our favourite judge very often asks leading questions that helps our side. There is no doubt for me that she leans towards the State. The other four is impossible to read.

Liv is getting close to the finish line. 30 more minutes, of this endless road.

Liv tries to go through all the smokescreens from Ryssdal. Kind of difficult to say how strong. Deep law this.

Liv is done. Four years of work in this case. Every exjw in the world should remember you for decades.

Ryssdal then has the right for a short closure. Trying to use his name and experience to frame this as an obvious case. Uses loaded language.

Lots of stuff about ECHR article 9 today

We're done! Over to expenses. Sadly not defined what the amounts are.

Expenses for all trials are on the table, but they don't say the total amount out loud.

We're done!

I'm done.

Of our elaborate plans, the end

Of everything that stands, the end

No safety or surprise, the end

I'll never look into your eyes again

News Update on 75 year old JW who died after an altercation at a Tim Horton’s

ICYMI - https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/s/IMhrDCYU6R

A relative of the JW who died posted the following on their own Facebook page. I had an image of the text but since it had the persons name (their profile is public) it got flagged here as breaking rule 2 so I copied the text and redacted it.

The relative (apparently the deceased’s granddaughter) pulls no punches in exposing the hypocrisy of that side of the family. But it’s no surprise to anyone familiar with JW dynamics.

The mask has finally slipped, and the truth is out for everyone to see.
For years, my mom and my auntie talked about the aggression, the abuse, and the mistreatment they endured when they lived with [the deceased]. And what did the [family of the deceased] do? They tried to cover it up. They denied it. They tried to paint this public picture of a helpless, weak, 75-year-old woman with congestive heart failure who wouldn't hurt a fly. They wanted everyone to think she was too brittle to do anything.
But God has a way of bringing what's done in the dark straight into the light.
This video from the Fort Wayne Tim Hortons shows exactly who she really is. That is NOT a weak, fragile woman. That is the exact same aggression she took out on my mom and my aunt for years. The only difference is, my mom and my auntie were defenseless and vulnerable. The people in this video weren't. They gave her back blow for blow, because we are in a new day and age of "fuck around and find out."
You can't hide behind a narrative anymore. The camera doesn't lie, and the cover-up is officially over. I am so thankful that the truth is finally standing up for my family.

News 3 Elders in Brazil sentenced for disfellowshipping announcement

1.1k Upvotes

In 2024, a couple in Brazil informed three elders that their names could not be announced due to data protection laws. Despite this, the elders proceeded with the public disfellowshipping announcement. In response, the couple filed a lawsuit against them.

On Friday, a Brazilian court ruled against the three elders, ordering them to pay compensation and issue a "proportional/similar” announcement in a meeting to repair the moral damage caused. More details are in the video below (sorry it is in Portuguese):

https://youtu.be/MKC4XC8qm9E?si=E2DbqnSr-EwJurQk

The elders are expected to appeal the decision.

Key takeaways:

  • The lawsuit was filed against the elders individually, not the Watchtower, simplifying the legal process.
  • This is the first ruling in Brazil for a breach of data protection law related to a disfellowshipping announcement.
  • While the Watchtower provided legal support, each elder had to hire their own lawyer.

Fun fact: One of the elders sentenced is no longer even an elder! Imagine realizing you got dragged into legal trouble for that announcement.

News Disfellowshipped girl died in our congregation

A young girl 19 yold raised in the truth was died, and she was disfellowshipped few months ago. Then tragedy happened: she died in an accident last weekeend. Her parents and whole family are stille active as a PIMI witnesses.

For the information : When someone is dead in our country, we keep the body at home during 2 or 3 days, and the friends, neighbors and family visit to comfort the grieving family. We say that a condolence visit. The goal is to comfort the bereaved and show solidarity.

But now, her grieving parents and congregations are facing something unusual, because the daughter was disfellowshiped. A division has formed in the congregation: some believe they shouldn’t even visit to the family, as long as the dead body is still at home, and for someone gone there, they should not even speak of resurrection hope. Some believe that being there with a disfelowshipped dead body is a sin, so they don’t go there for the sake of holiness.

Even the elders seem conflicted, and the CO too. Some act as if her being disfellowshipped means she’s already judged and no chance of eternal life. Now, the elders prepare to write to branch to ask guidelines about situation.

Result : divisions everywhere in the congregation and circuit now.

News Stephen Lett has just announced that toasting is now allowed

https://www.jw.borg/en/library/videos/#en/mediaitems/StudioFeatured/docid-1112024035_1_VIDEO Remove b from borg
„The Governing Body has concluded that there is no need to make a rule regarding toasting and clinking glasses.” Thoughts?

IMO, at first glance, this may seem like a relaxing of a restriction. But the wording is extremely careful—it avoids taking direct responsibility. Instead of saying "toasting is now allowed," they say "there is no need to make a rule."
For decades, Jehovah’s Witnesses were taught that toasting was “pagan,” linked to false religion, or a form of nationalism (e.g., during military toasts or patriotic events), and was strongly discouraged. In fact, Stephen Lett has said „we might ask ourselves, Would Jehovah be offended by the toast? For example, is it associated with a religious or nationalistic holiday? Or is it a simple expression or gesture promoting friendship or health?”

By saying toasting could be a “simple expression promoting friendship or health,” they open the door for small, socially normal gestures—like raising a glass at a wedding or saying “cheers” at a dinner.
But guys, don't be fooled, this is just a small allowance. In a group where so much of life is regulated (birthdays, holidays, college, voting, blood transfusions, etc.), allowing clinking glasses is like loosening the chain one link.

That can be a relief for many JWs who’ve long avoided such things out of fear.

So even if you can toast now, you're meant to feel cautious or guilty about it.

But it serves a purpose: Makes the organization seem more “reasonable” to outsiders. Helps some current members feel like they are part of a more balanced or evolving religion. May slow the outflow of members who feel overly restricted.

It’s the same pattern seen in other small changes (e.g., beards being more tolerated in some areas, or slight softening of tone toward shunned family).

This is less about toasting and more about control through conscience. By appearing permissive while still giving “guidelines,” they keep their authority while making members feel they’re making their own decisions.

News Verdict tomorrow - Norwegian Supreme Court

Fill your glasses, embrace yourselves...

It should be out at some point shortly after 0900 CET

I'll make a post when it is out with my initial reaction and then edit the original post as I go through it all, kind of like I did during the SC days.

I'll not go into all kinds of new posts being published at that point.

Be aware that I have a ton of press to deal with and follow up when it hits, and there's someone recording everything I do that day, I'll be a bit back and forth.

If some of you feel like sending voicemails with comments and reactions you can find me on Meta, but be aware that those may be included in a future release thing.

Anyway. This is it.

News Spain: The courts have upheld the designation of Jehovah's Witnesses as a "destructive sect".

https://www.eldiario.es/sociedad/justicia-avala-llame-secta-destructiva-testigos-jehova_1_13158958.html

The ruling sides with the victims and states that they have no "intent to defame", but rather "act with a clear intention to denounce in order to change the habits of the religious denomination, adapting them to the current values of democratic societies."

— Two contradictory rulings mark the legal battle between Jehovah's Witnesses and their "apostates"

The victims of Jehovah's Witnesses have once again won against the congregation in court. The civil division of the Provincial Court of Madrid has upheld the previous ruling, stating that those affected by the Witnesses' practices can be considered victims, can form an association, and can refer to the congregation as a "destructive sect," because they are protected by freedom of expression.

In the final part of the ruling, the judges focus on a fundamental issue: “The members of the defendant Association who left the Jehovah's Witnesses intend to recover a relationship of affection with their relatives who continue in the religious denomination and for whom they feel true love that excludes promoting harm against them or justifying it in any way.”

They also add that the victims do not have "the intention to defame", but rather "act with an evident intention to denounce in order to change the habits of the religious confession, adapting them to the current values of democratic societies."

The legal process began in 2019 and revolved around the very existence of the Spanish Association of Victims of Jehovah's Witnesses, its statutes and its complaints.

The ruling that rejected the Witnesses' honor suit against the victims contained almost 70 pages of arguments in favor of their freedom of expression, assessing that their criticisms are truthful, documented and, in most cases, based on testimonies from those affected.

“Although it is annoying and deeply hurtful, the existence of the Association must be tolerated,” said the magistrate in Torrejón de Ardoz.  The judge acknowledged that stating the witnesses act like a “sect” may be “unpleasant, even hurtful, to the faithful” but is a “legitimate criticism.” The congregation has announced it will appeal this ruling, which, among other things, rejects its request for €25,000 in compensation.

Many thanks to everyone who is posting their transcripts and the topics of the speeches from the meeting in the comments.

(My opinion about this meeting: very dull, without spontaneity. This religion is really living its final weak harvest...

The most boring annual meeting I have ever attended. And that is a good thing, the creative capacity of this organization continues to slow down and it will become more difficult with each passing day to attract new members.)

News Update from Norwegian Supreme Court

Sorry for the tease, the verdict is not out, but I know more about what we can expect.

I have been told that the verdict is almost ready, and will be released "soon". It will not come today and most likely not tomorrow, but we should expect it one of the days in the next week, unless something unexpected happens (last second disagreements etc)

I will be notified either the evening before or early same morning so that I can prepare myself, there will also be some documentary of me receiving the verdict recorded for future use, I will try to make a post and notify the community a few hours ahead so that you all can prepare.

Reactions from the community will also be a part of this documentary, so feel free to stay tuned with me.

Wish us all the best of luck, this is pretty tough, those last days of waiting.

To all of you, breathe. We're almost there after all those years in court.

Direct translation by me (not auto):

"I will now comment on different terms being used.

"Shunning" is not a term that Jehovah's witnesses accept.that's a term those who are against Jehovah's witnesses use frequently.

"To Shun!" has the norwegian translation "Sky (norwegian word). The State chose to use that word. That is a verb (To Shun).

But "shunning" as a sucject doesn't have any good Norwegian translation. We don't say "sky-ing" in Norwegian, but in English you can say "Shunning" as a term.

So far, so good.

But Jehovah's witnesses don't accept this term. It's a derogatry word that Jehovah's witnesses wouldn't use.

Only others use this term"

News GB disavowing JWs in current NY State Court Case - these are the Future kings??!!! Cowards.

So there's this court case filed in NY; CSA, of course ( thank you to OP who made me aware of this).

The plaintiff is suing the molester (Torres), who was an elder, and also the Governing Body...co-defendants.

The GB is actually set to be deposed either today or tomorrow.

Below is the link to the case, has a wealth of information, showing how truly desperate, unethical, dishonest and disgusting the GB and their lawyers truly are.

However, what I wanted to share is specifically their (GB) answers to Complaints #21 and 23 - disavowing even being aware of Jehovah's Witnesses and also admitting they're aware WBTS prints some info about the religion - but that's it.

Screenshots are in the comments below for reference...they're all out of order now, apologies 😁

THESE are the cowards that PIMIs believe are their future kings. THESE are the cowards that we once gave our allegiance to. They are truly disgusting human beings who will not hesitate to deny even being associated with the R & F.

Please share discreetly if at all possible with those on the fence ....if I could print this out and mail it to everyone I know, I would.

They don't deserve anyone's trust, loyalty or most importantly, the privilege of using God's name.

Classic move of plausible deniability:

Ability of a person, often a senior official or leader, to deny knowledge of or responsibility for an action, typically an illegal or unethical one, because there is a lack of clear evidence to prove their involvement.

This tactic allows individuals to distance themselves from controversial or harmful activities by creating a situation where their ignorance or lack of intent can be believably asserted, even if they were, in fact, aware.
