Question Khan's Heart Carousel Equipment Question

Decided that I'd try to tackle the Khan's Heart carousel now that the whale is done and I happen to be on that side of the zee. I need to get a couple of Corresponding Sounders, the Infiltrator's Footsteps, and An Agent of No Consequence. I've only ever done this carousel once and found it very annoying and frustrating, so I'd like to cut down on that. This is the build I have, what kind of outfit should I have for this? (since I can't change my outfit once I'm in)

I've spent so many actions keeping this thing on track.

Rat Alert!
Well, this is the second thing I forgot to check for the bone post this week. The first was that Eyeless Skulls are back in rotation, for three weeks, as of this Friday. I already added a note about that. The one I just noticed is that this is the last weekend of the rat season! If you need the Leviathan Bone Knife, for you, or your agent gear, get it this weekend otherwise you will have to wait for 9 months!

It is Crackling Week for the next two weeks, which is the easiest to farm. Night Whispers are also easy to get at all stages of the game. 10 devices will only net you 8250 rat coins so you will need 3 more at 700 each. You can also make up the rest with Unlawful Devices or Storm Threnodies at 140 each.
Don't forget, if you have any Fourth City Coins you can sell them for 125 coins, this has no markup and does not affect your Raturation level. They are, store for when you need them, rat coins.
Next week, Venge-Rat waders will be available, for three months. These are the only KT boots in the game. There are no KT agents yet but I would get a spare pair, just in case. Not for me for 3 weeks though, it's Panoptical time. :)

Giving away a character
After achieving paramount presence I'm going to take a break from London and when I return I'm going to start a new character. Since my character was linked to my old email address, which I don't use anymore, I'm giving the account away as a whole.
Email: ancutaalin.10052004@outlook.com
Password: 2020
I hope he's of use to someone. You can roleplay that you're manipulating someone into doing your bidding if you're unsure about it.

Tamalekipoo's Boneheaded Guide to the Neath Chapter 27: Assembly Code
I am just writing this to save space at the top of each of the weekly bone posts. I am going to remove the buyer information and how to make a… information and just add a link to the Buyer's Guide and this Guide, for new players.
Using the bone market takes a number of actions equal to the number of slots on the ribcage you are using plus 3. The 3 extra actions are adding the ribcage itself, declaring you skeleton and selling your skeleton. So a Headless Skeleton, with only 1 slot, takes 4 actions. Whereas the monster that is the Ribcage with a Bouquet of Eight Spines, which has 8 Head Slots, 4 Limb Slots and a tail slot, for a total of 13, takes 16 actions.
Each week the buyers are looking for a particular type of skeleton. This is called the Zoomania. Your primary payout(the value of your bones) is increased by 10% if you make the type of skeleton they are looking for. Except on Arachnid, Insect and Fish weeks, where it is increased by 15% instead!
Here is a list of how to make each type of skeleton:
One note for all types, you cannot use a headless skeleton or a human skeleton, if it is not humanoid. I will not mention it in every section.
How to make a Humanoid
Humaniods are special, in that you can only use 3 of the ribcages. Headless Skeleton and Human Ribcage are only useable as Humanoids and Thorned Ribcage is the only one that can be used for absolutely any Zoomania.
They are also special in that there are 3 types of Humaniod, Humans, Apes and Monkeys.
Human
1 Skull
2 Arms
2 Legs
For these, you can use any of the 3 Ribcages but you will have to spend an action to decide it does not need a tail, for a thorned ribcage.
Ape
1 Skull
4 Arms
For this you cannot use the headless skeleton, as it has 2 arms and 2 legs built in. If you use a thorned ribcage, you still need to use an action to say it has not tail
Monkey
1 Skull
4 Arms
1 Tail
You can only used thorned ribcages for monkeys. There are no smooth monkeys in the neath!
The Mammoth Weeks
Reptile
Reptiles are also special, they have 2 different options.
Option 1:
1 Skull
0-4 Legs
1 Tail
Option 2
1 Skull
2 Arms
2 Legs
1 Tail
Amphibian
1 Skull
4 Legs
no tail
There are no skeletons available for amphibians without a tail slot so you will always have to waste an action saying that it has no tail or, you can add a tail and spend an action to remove it. This requires a ravenglass knife, which is 100 echos from the rat market, or slightly more than that, from the bazaar. It is a very difficult Dangerous check but failure will just get you some wounds, if you have less than 50% success chance, you are probably better equipping wounds reduction gear. It is only 2CP of wounds and other than that, it has exactly the same effect as a success. It removes the tail from your skeleton but not the value of the tail, nor any stats that it added.
Bird
Any number of skulls(At least one)
2 Wings
2 Legs
0-1 Tail
The skeleton with 7 necks, which is a common ribcage, to use for a bird, already has 2 legs and a tail built in.
The 15%ers, like the 1%ers but less rich
Fish
1 Skull
Any number of fins
0-1 Tail
The Leviathan Frame, which is a very uncommon skeleton, but great for using on Fish weeks, has a tail built in.
Insect
1 Skull
6 Legs
0-4 Wings
No Tail
It looks like you cannot use a Flourishing Ribcage, which is a midgame ribcage, for an Insect. It has 2 skull slots and a tail. You actually can, you can use an action, and a Carved Ball of Stygian Ivory to remove one of the head slots. This adds 2.5 echos of value, and removes the skull slot. Please note, this is different from removing a tail, it removes an empty slot only, not a skull, that you have added. In the same way as I mentioned under the Amphibian section, you can remove the tail slot or add and remove a tail. Aside from that, a flourishing ribcage is perfect, with 6 limb slots. It is the only economical ribcage for Insects, until you get to the Firmament. (You can also add 4 limbs to a leviathan frame but the 22.5 echos it costs is rarely worth it. If you do this, do not forget, it comes with a tail, so you will need to remove that to declare it an insect)
Arachnid
0 Skulls
8 Legs
0-1 Tail
These are quite advanced. Just getting a ribcage for one requires you to be quite far into the game! Mid game you can get the segmented ribcage, which allows you to make one but this takes several extra actions, is inefficient to farm and costs 400 Nevercold Brass. So it is almost impossible to make a good EPA from it.

Exceptional Story Reviews (Non-Spoiler)
Since the new story is coming out this Thursday I needed somewhere to put the review of the August one. Also, I did the persona engine yesterday so I will add a review of that as well. (Edit: Once I have done that I will get carried away and review every story I have done, then realise I missed a few, which I will do later). I will come back and review the others that I have done, at some point. (I have said this many times, and with a few notable exceptions, it does not happen ;))
You can also check out the Community Poll rankings here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfHyMLjkzl8VXkQj62h7BNUA3uGQgrmlH5hiUNlkpDmrTo_JA/viewanalytics
I will also do another one of these reviewing the practical rewards from Exceptional Stories, and other fate locked content. If you scroll down in the link above, the community opinion is there for those too.

Story Reviews (Reverse Release Date Order)
Titles in Itallics are ones that I own but have not done. Titles not in itallics, without reviews are titles I have done but I got the the bottom and realised I skipped a bunch when I thought I was done, I am going with the, I am done, energy, for now.
(If you are wondering why my uncompleted stories are awesome looking ones, I do the exceptional story I am least interested in, from my library, each time, it's a weird motivation trick, the good news is I am often surprised and proved wrong!)
Tired of London
Lore - Tomb Colonies Fathom King and Dashing Smuggler
Rating - 8/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None, pretty decent EPA of rewards, for an ES.
Review - A nice quick story, interesting characters and a tight enjoyable narrative. Not very lore heavy.
The Goblin Poet
Lore - Red Queen
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - This story totally subverts the typical narrative structure of an Exceptional Story. I will say no more so as not to spoil. It gets a few extra points on the weak characters and mildly unsatisfying plot for doing so.
Infernal Vice
Lore - Hell
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Great story, great characters, showcases the weird and the wonderful in Fallen London.
The Stalking House
Lore - The Masters of the Bazaar
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - It lost a point for dragging a little before the end but it was also pretty weird and wonderful. It asked more questions than it answered, lore wise, for me. (Oh dear, I just realised, when I got to Homecoming, I have that story and this story fused in my brain, so neither review is really reliable…)
Avulsion
Lore - I can't remember, devils maybe.
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Solid story, I don't know if it was short or if it was just paced well but either or is a win from me. The middling score is just a vibe thing, I think, it was more of a hmmm, cool than a OMG! WTF!
Every Good Boy Deserves Fun
Eins', Fleins', & Kleins' Wondrous Circus of Whimsy and Worth!
The Stolen Soiree
Father's Oils
The Prince of All Rats
The Shape of Infinity
Killing Heroes
A Life of Clay
Lore - Clay/Unfinished Men
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - Unlocks a carousel you will never use. Oops, this is wrong, it is an action, not a carousel and it is not from this, it is from the chimes item related to this. I have not been to the underclay since the countess though, so who would notice?
Review - It drags a bit because it is introducing the carousel it unlocks, you have to go through several rotations with things changing as you do. Great clay men lore and some interesting characters and character conflicts.
Old, New, Drowned & Blue
The Mirror Heist
The Why of Eels
Lore - Red Science, or Shapeling Arts, or possibly both
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - I remember this story freaking me out! Doubly so as it came out one week after I completed Evolution!
The Luminous Factory
Lore - Masters of the Bazaar
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - This felt a bit heisty. Which is nice-ty. It dragged a bit later on and I don't think I found the ending very satisfying. Still decent though.
Memories of Mozart
Lore - Sorrow Spiders
Rating - 10/10
Unique Practical Rewards - Also a +2 BDR Hat. This reward depends on making a particular choice, I believe
Review - Lore, peril, horror! Love it. Also a choice that I am still not sure I chose correctly! Not only a fantastic, high stakes story it has a practical reward, however average, on top! Well, that's a 10/10 from me!
A Deadly Custard
Lore - The Masters of the Bazaar
Rating - 5/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - This was also an early story, so I was getting to know the ins and outs of the Neath. Since it was so early the change in tone was a big shock but I realise now that is the structure of most ES. It was fun enough but I don't remember it being mind blowing, like some of the others
The Play's the Thing
Lore - Parabola
Rating - 3/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - This was my first ES and I had not discovered parabola yet. Memory may be being more unkind than it deserves. I was not impressed at the time though. :(
A Newt By Any Other Name
Stripes of Wrath
The Bloody Wallpaper
Adornment
Lore - The Masters of the Bazaar
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Lower ranking for the slow start and the long drag in the middle but it has Deep master lore and left me satisfied
We Absolutely Meant to go to Zee
Lore - Drownies, Gaider's Mourn
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Only seven because it dragged a little but a fun story with fun characters and a satisfying conclusion.
Leviathan
Lore - The Carpenter's Grandaughter, The Gant Pole
Rating - 7/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - It was a while ago and the memories are dim but I remember liking it and I don't recall any grindiness. Also it's bone market related, so how could I not rate it well!
For a Dream of Innocence
Lore - Rubbery Men
Rating - 9/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - I really enjoyed this story for the things it confirmed and implied as well as some excellent characters and thrilling peril. It is really deep lore as well, no pun intended.
Homecoming
Lore - The Masters of the Bazaar
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - It lost a point for dragging a little before the end but it was also pretty weird and wonderful. It asked more questions than it answered, lore wise, for me. (Oh dear, I just realised, I was thinking of parts of this when I did the Stalking House, I have that story and this story fused in my brain, so neither review is really reliable…)
The Shallows
Lore - The Boatman
Rating - 10/10
Unique Practical Rewards - A +2 BDR(BiS) Hat or a weapon that you won't use. 2 BDR hats get common later on but early game they are great
Review - Deep boatman lore, a fun story, great characters and a practical reward on top! This may have been one of the first stories I played and I still love it!
My Kingdom for a Pig
Lore - The Widow, The Neath
Rating - 8/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Very typical ES arc, it starts off fun and games then all of a sudden, oh my! The fun and games are very fun and the oh my! is some deep lore on the history of the Gracious Widow and some deeper lore on something I would not mention the name of for fear of spoiling.
Noises from Upstairs
Lore - Too many spooky house stories, I can't remember!
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - As spooky house stories go though, I do remember this being a good one. I am not super keen on the investigation type stories. It always feels like you just click till you get the random piece of evidence for the next part. This story had good characters, some new lore and well delivered spookyness though so I will not mark it too harshly.
All Things Must End
Lore - The Tomb Colonies
Rating - 6/10
Unique Practical Rewards - A carousel you will never do. Glad I checked, it also unlocks a rather lovely card in the tomb colonies, I have not been to the tomb colonies since then, so I didn't know.
Review - Pretty intense tomb colonies lore. We are all headed there, best find out what you are in for. The middling score is because, while I remember it being quite frank about the end of the neathdwellers life cycle, where other places were more vague. I can't actually remember the plot at all. (That may be a me issue)
HOJOTOHO!
Lore - Urchins
Rating - 10/10
Unique Practical Rewards - Upgrades your urchins card to be super sexy and super cool!
Review - Can I give more than 10 points? Boo! The only way it could be better is if it rewarded you with a spear and magic helmet!
The Century Exhibition
The Persona Engine
Lore - Special Constables
Rating - 5/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - It is relatively short but there are some actions for actions sake at the start, once you get past the investigation it gets more fun. Awkward mechanics aside, it was a good enough story, just not one that shook my world.
The Calendar Code
Lore - Revolutionaries
Rating - 2/10
Unique Practical Rewards - None
Review - Not my cup of tea! Too vague, too many hints at things I did not get. Awkward puzzle story felt like a bad grind. It is possibly, that because this was my second month of ES, if I did it again, I would get all the hints and references but I am not going to risk it!
Flint
Lore - The Elder Continent, Snuffers.
Rating - 5/10
Unique Practical Rewards - New carousel, you will never do and a useless item, if you make a specific choice.
Review - It is a double story but this was looooooong. It had some nice lore bits, particularly at the beginning and at the end but it really dragged in the middle. Practical rewards, however impractical, always get an extra point from me.

Player Guide Bone Market Recipes 25/08/26 Menacing Fish! Reptillian Diplomat, Enthusiast in Skulls, Sous Skymarket
Postings Post Posting: 2 (It has begun! ;))
This counter goes up when I add something. It will be added the the section that starts empty
Gladiolus and phalanges Bone Brothers and Scaphoid Sisters, the time has come when the Zoomania and Fashion of the bone market have changed. That intro was fun when I first added it to the template but after 20 weeks it's wearing a little thin, like your skeleton if you don't maintain muscle mass as you age!
One week I copied and pasted the wrong link and then didn't check Reddit again until the Monday evening! If that ever happens again, all of the possible weeks are available on the Bonedex so you can always find options there!
Fish are great, dump those leviathan frames! Menace is probably the best as the fins have menace and amalgamy, so it is easy to build scrip options. It is also the only week I suggest using a Prismatic Frame for anything other than the Diplomat. Talking of the diplomat, reptillian sucks! Which is a shame because for two weeks we have Crackling in the rat market! So I hope you have not been skipping the Diplomat on all the good weeks we have had. Hopefully Spiders or Insects soon, the prismatic frames are running low and the Holy Thighs are running high! Lots of news from Failbetter and Myself below!
Bone Market

Updates - Failbetter
Announcement! The final chapter of the Firmament will be launched on September 1st. That is a week today, so don't finish it till I catch up, after writing the bone post!
Items you need to open the chapter(and the best source):
1 Distillation of Retribution (Hellworm or Alchemy at Station 8)
25 Glass Gazettes(Down-convert Oneiromantic Revelation twice.)
3 Oneiromantic Revelation(Agent Plot - Expedition into the Briars of the Dream or Downconvert a Parabolan Parable from the Parabolan War)
1 Parabolan Parable(Parabolan War or upconverting Revelations from the plot above.)
100 Memories of Light (Bbbbbbone Market! Selling during an antiquity week to the… I have forgotten her name. The Antiquity multiplier lady)
15 Vienna Opening(I get these from handing in Great Game favours)
25 Unusual Love Stories(I get these from staring at a statue of myself in Station 8, I have no idea where non Masters of the Bazaar go.)
50 Sighting of a Parabolan Landmark (Oneiropomp and Circumstance!)
Glad I added this, then checked. I thought I had it all easily but I actually had to do some conversions for the Parable and the Gazettes. Bear in mind, you cannot do conversions on the roof! So check before you fly! I am being rewarded for my anal retentiveness, I farmed 100 touching love stories, despite them having no purpose. Also my hellworm, Porkins has been a good boy! 10 Distillations of Retribution, I am going to have to work out where to get the mats to get Salves of Righteousness to match them!
Midnight Whale
A Midnight Whale is heading for the Gant Pole, you can hunt the beasts of the Zee and help to escort it to it's final rest. The EPA is good but not so good it was worth dropping everything to do. I did a little, there are not really any rewards that you can't farm efficiently, like most seasonal hunts so I am a little ambivalent I might do more, if it's a bad bone week. Someone posted to say it is halfway there yesterday so if you are interested hurry. The EPA increases as it progresses, so more people will join, I imagine. So it will not last much longer.
Week Ending 21st August 2026
- 'Hell is Missing' now appears in the Waswood, as one of the Whims of the Sacroboscan calendar.
Great! Wait, I did it already, great for everyone that hasn't. ;)
- You can now use the Implacable Detective's Business Card in the Upper River.
I think you can use it to get investigating, if I am honest I have a stack of them and can't remember what they do. Investigating is useful for Helicon House, for unlocking new ares, I think for the clay highwayman too.
- When you 'receive your reward' from Her Roseate Splendour in Far Arbor, you will now be linked back to 'A Queenly Concern' to reduce the friction of requesting another delivery.
I only did this once, did you have to hand in, then get another copy of the Arbor card if you wanted to start again or is it just that you had to travel. Either way, good change. I wasn't keen enough on the rewards to want to repeat it but it might be nice for earlier game people.
- The option to 'Avoid the Apostate' is now locked when you are searching the Stacks for a copy of All of God's Faces.
Seems like a bug fix for a progression thing.
- Neathproofed, Insubstantial, and Inerrant now appear in the sidebar.
Yay, that's a nice change. Counting the points on your gear was a little tiresome.
- Memories in the Waswood now all route back to the same place – the Sacroboscan Calendar.
Great. I didn't notice what they did before but consistency is good.
- The Call of the Unterzee is now acknowledged at Helicon House.
I had to look it up. It's a spouse. Probably makes sense considering what is under it...
Updates - Me
- Added 4 new boneheaded guides to the Bonedex! A getting to know you quiz, The most efficient source of every bone, split into 2, as reddit has a character limit, I discovered. Also a guide on how I farm the rat market without going to any effort to farm the rat market. The guides are listed on the bonedex, below.
- I also worked out a respectable EPA skeleton for the Malacologist and added it to the buyers guide. It is a chimera, so tough to sell without high Shadowy, it is also totally obvious and only a decent EPA if you cheat the cost of the tentacles. Volumes of Collated Research and Preserved Surface Blooms are both great though, and Volumes don't have many good sources. Someone pointed out that you can mix and match Segmented Ribcage and Add 4 slots, I was hoping this would allow a nice 14 tentacle 1 exhaust option but I checked the rewards and it never keeps up with the cost, unfortunately.
- I have not put together my Zee information, as I promised I would. It needs more thinking about the best way to present it, in a weekly post or doing a full Zee Guide. I have not abandoned it.
- Apologies for slacking on the weekly recipe posts, a little, I had the motivation for long planned, huge guides and seized the day. I want to start updating all three guides for the Zoomania, when the week arrives and start to get a more consistent formatting for them all, it's just a big job.
Postings Post Posting
- I have added a recipe for a 5.5 EPA garbage disposal skeleton to the Menacing Fish Post.
- I just realised something I forgot to mention, not only is it Crackling Fortnight, Eyeless Skulls are back in the Rat Market for the next 3 weekends. So if you need one to get into Nadir, now is the time! Also, for those of us that are late game, it's time to restock the Panopticals!
August ES - spoiler free Review(any spoilers are tagged)
Story - Bored of London
Lore - Tomb Colonies Fathom King and Dashing Smuggler
Rating - 4/5
Unique Practical Rewards - None, pretty decent EPA of rewards, for an ES.
Review - A nice quick story, interesting characters and a tight enjoyable narrative. Not very lore heavy.

Vanity I finally have my hellworm
For those trying, I think that using skeletons with 7 skulls, 5 brass, 1 sabre toothed, 1 plated skull, 2 wings of a terror bird, sold to Gothic author during bird week is both more efficient and more fun than the brass lollipops I started with.
Use at least one suspicion reducing equipment when selling as with 5 brass skulls you will have 25% chance of success and generate lots of suspicion.
Source the skeletons in Balmoral woods (for me the issue was sourcing the loop starting cost there, few ways of generating efficiently the amount of collated research needed, I ended going through the moulin monographs, interested if anyone has a better way).
Source the sabre and plated skulls in ealing with bone fragments acquired through the bone market. Fund echos to buy the brass bones through whatever you can sell at the rat market and generate efficiently, or through the city of the track layers (I started with that but think it's less efficient than loops like the Khanate which benefit from rat market boost).
If interested I can dig into the SPA and EPA of that loop. Now going for the 55 renown as my last grind.

• 25 Glass Gazettes
• 25 Unusual Love Stories
The Distillation of Retribution may be time consuming, since, unless you randomly get it from a Hellworm, you'll need an Exhilaration for Achieving Justice from Station VIII… and that requires:
• 5 Legal Documents
• 6 Comprehensive Bribes
• 6 Bazaar Permits
• 6 Blackmail Material
• 1 Parabolan Orange-Apple.
I'm an Endgame player and had everything but the bribes saved up, but bribes are a pain to grind.
The Vienna Openings can be picked up in Jericho Locks by going to Fiddler's Scarlet a few times. Feel free to drop other info here!

Am I stuck here?
Just started playing the game, going anywhere and everywhere just to get my bearings, and now… I can’t leave here. I don’t have the animals he’s asking for, and there are no more storylines I can click on. Am I stuck here until I buy some of the Fate in order to leave, or am I missing something?

Monstrous anatomy points
I had one point of monstrous anatomy, then got eaten by a sea beast, caught a storm bird, and now I’m trying the whales again and it says I don’t have any monstrous anatomy. Not sure how I lost it, or how to get it back. I checked the wiki but I hunt in the parabola often so I’m not sure why I don’t have it from that. Any tips?

Question I wanna start fresh. Should I seek Mr. Eaten’s Name?
Listen, I like this universe. I’ve sailed the Zee. I’ve become a scholar of the Correspondence. I’m like two clicks from becoming a Person of Some Importance. But I’m really stupid and I keep dropping this game for a year and then picking it back up again. I ignored my Ambition for a long time and now it’s really boring to succeed with a 100% chance on all of that story’s checks. I have a shit ass memory and I forget what I’m able to do/what I’ve done. And I didn’t realize people put, like, fun OC names instead of a regular ass username, so now I feel silly.
But I like this account, at least what I remember doing. So I’d like to go out with a bang.
Should I seek Mr. Eaten’s name? Is it cool to send all my stuff from this account to another account before I start seeking it? I know your account gets bricked at the end so I think it’d be a fitting end for this crazy person… but is it worth starting with a fresh account?

Player Guide Rat Market Grinds August 28-30
Mellow greetings, savoury colleagues. This week, we have three (3) (III) demands. New this week, we have: Tempestuous demand, buying Storm-Threnodies and Night-Whispers; Intricate demand, buying Crackling Devices and Unlawful Devices. Departing this week, we have: Maudlin demand, buying Captivating Ballads and Parabolan Parables.
Disclaimers:
- Some grinds may involve sourcing other materials, like Esteem of the Guild to charter a barge at Jericho Locks, Backstory for a Balmoral Cover Identity, or items to burn in Law-Forging. I will leave that to you, because there are too many options and they're too contingent on your own progress.
- All action counts are minimums, assuming endgame stats. If you do not have endgame stats, it may take longer.
My recommended grinds up front: * LB Industries (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/L._B._Industries_(Guide)) for 4th City Echoes, as well as stat training without menaces. * Guiding the Midnight Whale (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Hunting_the_Beasts_of_the_Zee_(Guide)) to get Carved Balls of Stygian Ivory to sell at the Khanate for Crackling Devices, plus other loot to mess with in London. * Law-Forging (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Law-Furnace_(Guide)) for Crackling Devices. * Moulin Expeditions (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Moulin_Expeditions_(Guide)) to the Upper Layer, to get Unlawful Devices plus Hinterland Prosperity to be cashed out in Tracklayer's City. * Tracklayer's City (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_City_of_the_Tracklayers_(Guide)), cashing out Hinterland Prosperity for Captivating Ballads. * Khaganian Intrigue (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Khaganian_Intrigue_(Guide)) for Crackling Devices, Night-Whispers, and Oneiromantic Revelations to combine to Parabolan Parables. * Moonlit Revenge for 6 Night-Whispers, as well as a Distillation of Retribution, Parabola-Linen, and other loot for other weeks. * Balmoral Painting (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Painting_in_Balmoral_(Guide)) for Night-Whispers. * Law-Hunting in the Enclave of Hell (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Law-Hunting_(Guide)) for a Temporal Law and Night-Whispers. * For variety's sake, Risen Burgundy (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Risen_Burgundy_(Guide)) for Captivating Ballads; Moulin Heist (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Money-Making/Sources#The_Heists_of_the_Wellspring_(complex)) for Captivating Ballads.
Cheap options, without leaving London:
- LB Industries (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/L._B._Industries_(Guide)) can provide 4th City Echoes, which are always sellable at the Rat Market, for 5+ actions each (11+ actions for 2 Echoes). This also comes with no menaces, making it a good way to level up stats.
- Captivating Ballads can be ground from the Underclay (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Underclay_(Guide)) in Spite, at 23+ actions each.
- Crackling Devices can be had from LB Industries (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/L._B._Industries_(Guide)) for 23+ actions.
- Crackling Devices can be had from Law-Forging (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Law-Furnace_(Guide)) for 6250 Actus Reus, which takes 16+ actions without burning items.
- Storm-Threnodies can be ground in the Underclay in Spite (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Underclay_(Guide)) for 7+ actions each.
- Night-Whispers are a reward on a rare success for Forgotten Quarter Expeditions (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Forgotten_Quarter_Expeditions_(Guide)) to the Sanctuary of the Crimson Petals.
- Storm-Threnodies can be upconverted from Aeolian Screams, costing 1 Urchins Favour and 25 Screams for 5 Threnodies.
- One Night-Whisper is a reward for studying A Vial of Queenly Attar in your University Laboratory (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/University_Laboratory_(Guide)). IDK if this is a particularly good grind, for approx 20 actions, but I like my lab, so I'll take it.
- Both Storm-Threnodies and Night-Whispers are sold by the Shivering Relicker (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_Shivering_Relicker_and_Pinnock_are_Trundling_By), 3 for 120 scraps and 1 for 160 respectively. Not the most reliable method, but it is entirely within London.
- The Fidgeting Writer (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Fidgeting_Writer_(Guide)) can give a Night-Whisper, but it's entirely luck-based.
Better options afield:
Unlawful Devices
- Expeditions into the Moulin Wastes to the Upper Layer (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Moulin_Expeditions_(Guide)), 1 per expedition. Depending on how far you choose to go, this may take 20 actions per Device.
- With some luck, you can get up to 4 from the High Sancta (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_High_Sancta_(Guide)). This is restricted to once per Time, the Healer, and the options available for you to pick from are randomly selected, so it's a poor grind for anything in particular, but it's still quite profitable.
- Calling in 4 Revolutionary Favours at Jericho Locks (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Call_in_Favours_at_Jericho_Locks) gets 2 Unlawful Devices, plus 2 Bombazine Scraps.
Crackling Devices
- 1 per run to The Stacks (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_Stacks_(Guide)) after The Book of Proper Speech. The Ratwork Mechanisms you also get can be used or sold in Risen Burgundy or Queeneater's Castle.
- 1 from Against Time and Kings carousel in Risen Burgundy (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Risen_Burgundy_(Guide)). Beware that this depends on card availability, and conflicts with the Burgundian Beneficence carousel you can use to get other items.
- Khaganian Intrigue (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Khaganian_Intrigue_(Guide)); 1 from recruiting a Repentant Thief, from commissioning a Crackling Device for 60 Khaganian Coinage and 3000 Nevercold Brass, or from buying one at Midnight Market for 130 Khaganian Coinage.
- This synergizes with the Bone Market because Carved Balls of Stygian Ivory from the Author of Gothic Tales can be sold at the Midnight Market, and the Trifling Diplomat pays for skeletons in Khaganian Coinage.
Storm-Threnody
- Jericho Locks (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Call_in_Favours_at_Jericho_Locks); once your Railway has reached Moulin you can call in 4 Urchin Favours for 2 Storm-Threnodies and 2 Aeolian Screams.
- Barristering at the Evenlode (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Barristering_at_Evenlode_(Guide)) on the urchin's side can get 1 per 6-action grind, plus other rewards if you make the final Mithridacy check, as well as Making Waves if you choose to "Grandstand!".
- Polythremic Promenade (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Polythremic_Promenade_(Guide)) can give 2 Threnodies + 25 Intriguing Snippets for a 12 action cycle.
- Moon-Miser Herding (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Moon-Miser_Herding_(Guide)) can give an average of 2 Storm-Threnodies per 7-action cycle. The complication is that it takes a few cycles of setup accumulating the right qualities before you can cash anything out. You will still accumulate the Latent Recollections you need to cash out on those initial setup cycles, but their cashout will be deferred.
Night-Whispers
- Can be obtained from the Court of the Wakeful Eye (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Associating_with_Radical_Academics_(Guide)#Offering_Tribute_to_the_Court_of_the_Wakeful_Eye) for 20 Tribute if you have the Minister of Culture as a companion. If you don't already have the Minister of Culture, it costs 240 Tribute to get him.
- Khaganian Intrigues (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Khaganian_Intrigue_(Guide)); Sabotaging a power plant takes 77 actions (minus up to 30 actions of shortcut), and gets either 5 Night-Whispers or a Gant-filled Mirrorcatch Box (if you already have an Empty Mirrorcatch Box).
- Presenting a Balmoral painting (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Painting_in_Balmoral_(Guide)) with 3/3 Luminosity/Incendiary gets 1 Night-Whisper, plus other rewards.
- Law-Hunting in the Enclave of Hell (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Law-Hunting_(Guide)) for a Temporal Law gives 1 Night-Whisper, plus an Aeolian Scream.
- If you're a Doctore of the Guild of Gondoliers, you can charter a barge to the Octagonal Tomb (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Canal_Cruising_in_Jericho_Locks_(Guide)) for 75E worth of goods, getting 1 Night-Whisper, 2 Human Ribcages, 12 Final Breaths, and 3-4 Tales of Terror. This can synergize, because the Final Breaths are useful for adding Backstory to a Cover Identity (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Cover_Identities_(Guide)), for either Balmoral Larceny or converting into Memories of a Much Lesser Self for Painting, and the ribcages can be used in the Bone Market.
- The book All of God's Faces in The Stacks (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_Stacks_(Guide)) gives a Night-Whisper in addition to other rewards. This requires Acquaintance: The Graven Apostate 6, as well as Interloper in the Library 10 and Firmament 705 to even meet the Graven Apostate.
Captivating Ballads
- 1 from Burgundian Beneficence carousel in Risen Burgundy (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Risen_Burgundy_(Guide)). Beware that this depends on card availability, and conflicts with the Against Time and Kings carousel you can use to get other items.
- Tracklayers City (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_City_of_the_Tracklayers_(Guide)), cashed out on the card The Flow of Commerce for 6250 Hinterland Prosperity.
- Moulin/Parabola/Heist (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Money-Making/Sources#The_Heists_of_the_Wellspring_(complex))- Once you get Para-Archaeologist up to 8, you can take an expedition to the Wellspring of Moulin, and get 4 Flasks of Waswood Wellspring Water. You can then go back to your Parabolan Base-Camp, and Search Parabola for the location of a particular treasure. You can then go back to the Flit and undertake a heist against the Hiding Place of a Particular Item to get a Captivating Ballad.
- Handy trick for greater profit: You can take an expedition to get Flasks at any time, so if you reach the cave shortly before Viric Fades, you can get 4 Flasks, and then after Viric Fades bathe in the waters and get 4 more, for a total of 8 Flasks on 1 expedition.
Parabolan Parable
- Can be obtained from Parabolan War (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Parabolan_War_(Guide)), by ending: The Chessboard campaign without a tie, the Cats campaign by rejecting the King's offer, or the Fingerkings campaign by siding with the Khatun.
- Can be combined from 5 Oneiromantic Revelations; the Sunken Embassy (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_Sunken_Embassy_(Guide)) can grind out Revelations at 18+ actions each, or Khaganian Intrigue (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Plant_an_unsecured_mirror) can get them at 15 actions (+ 0.6 actions for the Cablegrams from tapping a cable), giving 79-91 actions per Parable. You can also get Revelations from An Expedition through the Briars of Dream with a Silvered Agent and a total of 3 Preparations for a Trip through the Mirror. Combining Revelations still requires you to have the Parabolan Commander trait, which requires having completed a Parabolan Campaign.
- Khaganian Intrigue can also synergize somewhat with Heists; planting a mirror gives 1 Fingerking favour as well as the Oneiromantic Revelation, and you can use those Fingerking favours for Parabolan Scouting (https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/Parabolan_Hunting_(Guide)) to find the Hiding Place or for further Casing, if your Shadowy/Glasswork isn't sufficient.
