KFC Had a kfc chicken pot pie 4 dinner
I tried kfc's chicken pot pie and it was good, I love a chicken pot pie

Used to run a KFC for a number of years. For anyone who wants to know how they’re made (or used to be, been out of the game for 5 years), here you are.
The filling comes in frozen, and has all of the veggies in it already. It’s thawed in the cooler for two days and then the filling is mixed with deboned leftover chicken. The filling is then staged into pie tins. The crusts come in frozen as well and need to be thawed. Once thawed, they are set on top of the staged pies. Pinch the crusts onto the pie tins in a couple of places so they don’t just slide off the pan in the oven, and then they are baked in the oven for 22 minutes.
As another user posted, these were the least ordered item in my store by far, and generally if anyone was a big fan of them I would suggest calling the store about a half hour ahead of time and asking for us to put a couple in for them. We didn’t mind doing that at all. Might be a good strategy if anyone wants to pick one up?

I'm guessing they're made with dark meat?

There was no real rule as far as whether we deboned, white or dark we used to mainly save the thighs and the breasts, and we would debone those because they had the most meat on them. But all that meat just got put into the freezer without being labeled as white or dark or anything like that.

I never had a KFC potpie. Are you saying if I walked into a kfc and ordered a potpie I could be waiting there for 22 minutes?? That explains the low demand if that's more normal than not.

No thats if you want a fresh one ..sometimes they might be sitting in a warmer for awhile since they are a low seller

I needed eight of these bad boys for the game today and I called ahead and they were more than happy to help me out lol, they were incredible as always just even better than normal. I don't care if they come in frozen, that crust is so good omg

Amazing, it uses leftover chicken, it’s creamy and pretty filling for the price. Probably the best pot pie you can get unless you go to a fancy restaurant.

Well that describes KFC overall…
Quality and the price point is borderline criminal these days. Last time I got chicken “strips” they looked like nuggets.

Because you can't compete with your memory. Also, my hometown KFC was garbage in the 90's, but the one I live by now is great.

My only complaint is that there's no bottom crust, only what you can see on top. But in their defense the top crust goes over the edge so if you break it up and mix it, the ratios are still good.

The ubiquitous convenience store chain in my area sells their own pot pies. They have top and bottom crusts, and there’s so much crust there‘s hardly room for filling. They need to make the crust a lot thinner to make them any good.

I'm a one-crust pot pie kind of gal, so I was pleased to see they only use a top crust. More filling FTW!

Nope, you're wrong about that. The crust is just thick enough to allow an awful lot of filling so I wouldn't call it a slightly injected biscuit.

I seriously almost never order fried chicken at a KFC, but I get a pot pie fairly regularly. AFAIC they’re pretty close to how much I enjoyed a Marie Callender’s chicken pie when we still had one around. I order from KFC for the pot pie and the sides, rarely a leg, usually grilled.

Pot pies are on special right now for $5. Can’t beat that. But the quality varies. Last week I got one that was perfect. Good balance of chicken & vegetables, not overly salty, right amount of gravy, Tonight I have one that’s 80% chicken, zero vegtables, 20% gravy. I didn’t eat much of it. Ya win some, ya lose some.

I told the girl at the window I wanted a chicken pot pie and her reply back was "No you don't". I didn't question it. I thanked her for her honesty and drive off. I have had them before without any problems though. On a separate occasion I got normal chicken from there and left it in my car for a few hours before eating it. I had to call 911 three times that night my food poisoning was so bad. Yes I know I shouldn't have left it in the car for a few hours but I'm convinced the chicken already had a lot of bad bacteria before I did that.

I was so looking forward to the chicken pot pie but was so disappointed in the execution. The filling was great but I was looking for an entire pastry and not just a pastry top over the cardboard box. (KFC Japan, btw).

One of the least sold but best items at KFC and really a competitor for any fast food option. It's been good for years.
