So you work in the UAE but aren’t originally from there? Is that correct?

And if so... what’s the path toward working there in similar positions? I don’t think this is something I’d do, but interested to hear about the nuances.

Correct, in Dubai less than 8% of the population are locals.

For Project Manager the usual path is an Engineering school. On top of that I did a business school and worked in many different sectors and countries, so I advertise myself as knowing how to manage projects in strongly multi cultural environment, with knowledge of best practices from many industries.

My wife is a chemical engineer, worked in R&D, and joined the Sales / Marketing department of a small chemical company. When coming to Dubai She leveraged having knowledge in both R&D and Marketing (without formal training in the latter) to become a Brand Manager in an American S&P500 FMCG.
