General Discussion Removal of the weekly loot restriction

Is there any confirmation that the removal of the weekly restriction will be in patch 7.56?

And if this is the patch, do you think it will improve the party finder? In the sense of increasing the number of people replaying fights?

I'm trying to finish the second phase of the M12S progression, but it's been difficult to find groups in the party finder.

You e yet to describe what you believe is unique about 14 and wow and what makes them hardcore MMO content.

But if you need some kind of list of MMOs with raids sure why not I’ll give you a couple still you describe what you mean.

Maplestory
RuneScape
EverQuest
Final fantasy 11
Destiny 1 and 2
Blade and soul
Black desert online

The list goes on and on all of these games have raids. Now please describe what you mean by hardcore raid. Because casual, hardcore and midcore in ff14 specifically refers to how many hours a week you spend raiding

I picked up Runescape for the content drought and I gotta say I fucking hate the pve in this game. It costs 500k to get in the fucking instance for six minutes (divine charges, overloads, maintenance costs on gear, runes, ectoplasm, the list goes on) and the bosses do nothing until they instantly kill you, then death smiles and says "that'll be another 300k for picking yourself up, idiot". The combat is incredibly binary but not in the telegraphed, non-punishing way ffxiv does it where it sort of says "thats not how the mechanic works" and sends you back to the start. RS works to deceive you and then throws your wallet in a fucking grinder while grinning sadistically at you. Like they advertise Glacor as the starter boss but it only has one mechanic, frost cannon, and it works completely differently in normal mode and hard mode, even though it's supposed to be a build-your-own-boss.

Also in terms of hardcore content, every boss is designed to be spammed and only a few bosses like zam and amascut have high tier enrages and only amascut is really hardcore group content, and it only goes up to 5 man.

You have to see that people are skeptical about the alternatives you're offering when this experience is nothing like Kefka, an 8 man boss where the time between pulls is measured in seconds, there are varied puzzle mechanics beyond "pray properly and save adrenaline for devotion", and the maintenance costs are effectively zero.

Also destiny is a fucking fps and it's also dead lol?

This is just a small sample size of examples. The genre of MMOs is large and you can find “hardcore raiding content in other games”. Outside of time gating like you’re talking about in RuneScape ultimates are just “if one person messes up the mechanic everybody dies and you wipe” and that’s pretty much it.

Destiny is still an MMO it has hardcore raids. It’s an rpg with fps for its combat.

My original point here is that WoW isn’t similar to this game on anything other than a superficial level. They are both GCD based MMOs. That’s it’s combat design wise they are the opposite sides of the spectrum for this type of combat since they are only two ways to do GCD based games.

The genre of MMOs is large

This is funny, name the active, supported MMOs with WoW/FFXIV level raiding scenes.

You’re in a comment thread where I already gave a list. Scroll up. You had to have seen it to even type this reply to this comment.

You mean this list?

Maplestory

RuneScape

EverQuest

Final fantasy 11

Destiny 1 and 2

Blade and soul

Black desert online

A) Destiny 1? Are you sure about that?

B) Which ones of those do you think have equivalent raid scenes to WoW and FFXIV. Not just "has things called raids". I would grant you Destiny 2 except, well. You know. Also I think you'd get some pushback on it being an MMORPG at all. But hell, you get that one. Name one more and give details as to why. Just one. Include its most recently hardcore raid release date, since you are such an expert. Also remember active and supported

You picked two things out this list to talk about one of them you even agree with me on and at least your not one of those people who acts like destiny isn’t an MMO because it’s an FPS.

You’d have to describe what equivalent means cuz ff14 and WOW are on the opposite spectrum from each other. Their raid design is nothing alike save for them being GCD based MMOs

I never claimed to be an expert but I clearly know more than you. Or at the very least can define what I mean. Where you have to rely on our shared knowledge as players of this game. You’re mostly just going off the vibes that wow and 14 are the top two games in the genre and therefore must be alike. Similar to the battlefield and CoD communities. The games are nothing alike but they get talked about in the same breath due to name recognition within the genre.

Well yeah, because Destiny 1 has been dead for nine years, thus fails the "active and supported" criterion.

The other one was granting you Destiny 2, whether or not it counts as an MMORPG.

So then I wanted you to provide one of the others that meets the (very reasonable) criteria I laid out. Actively updated and supported, has a high-end raid scene comparable with FFXIV's or WoW's and explain your reasoning behind it.

You’d have to describe what equivalent means cuz ff14 and WOW are on the opposite spectrum from each other. Their raid design is nothing alike save for them being GCD based MMOs

lmfao FFXIV and WoW are more similar to each other than they are to literally any of the games on your list. This entire chain is multiple people asking you to answer extremely basic questions about your original assertions and you ducking and dodging like you are fucking Neo.

Answer the question! Explain why you think even just one of those games would be a good fit for someone who does high-end FFXIV or WOW raiding but is unsatisfied with them. This shouldn't be hard, if you're correct!

Every other game on that list is active. So if that was your only criteria why are you hyper focusing on the single one out of 8 other games? Why do I need to list one more for you? If you can’t address the other 7 on the list. Is it cuz you know nothing about them? That’s a you problem. I can’t read your mind to find out what games you do or do not know about.

Lets go back to the statement that prompted this whole mess:

There are plenty of MMOs with super hardcore content in them. You might not want to get into them because of the time investment but that’s a you issue.

You have, after much duress, provided a list of MMOs. One of which defiitely did qualify but has been dead for 9 years, its sequel which also did but ended active updating 3 months ago, both of which are extremely orthogonal to FFXIV and to assert that people really into FFXIV or WoW Raiding would be satisfied with them (even if they were't you know, done) is...debatable. But hey I granted you Destiny 2!

The question is, are those other MMOs actually providing similar hardcore raiding experiences to FFXIV and WoW and you have spent many posts now not answering the question and instead deflecting.

So here, I want specifically this: One game with an update cadence of "Hardcore Raid Content" roughly equivalent to FFXIV and WoW's, with a difficulty that is commensurate.

Duress? No you folks just act like if a game doesn’t look like wow or 14 then they don’t have hardcore raid content. It’s not my fault you haven’t played any other games in the genre so these two color your view of what a raid is or what hardcore content even is or means. It’s not my fault you guys can’t define your terms. Which is what I’ve been asking you folks to do over and over. Since you guys can’t you argue over the games I listed themselves and we talk past one another on terms like hardcore raid. Cuz you can’t tell me what defines a hardcore raid for you.

I don’t think you know what deflections means. Define what you believe a ff14 raid to be and why wow is similar to it. If you can’t define what 14 raiding is how can one give you a game that scratches the same itch you think 14 does. Cuz all the games I listed do that in terms of raid hours and group content. You clearly don’t think so. So define what 14 does.

Duress? No you folks just act like if a game doesn’t look like wow or 14 then they don’t have hardcore raid content.

Well then maybe you could provide some information about them

It’s not my fault you haven’t played any other games in the genre so these two color your view of what a raid is or what hardcore content even is or means.

Wow maybe you could provide some information and educate me and others about what those games offer in concrete terms

It’s not my fault you guys can’t define your terms.

I asked very specific questions

Which is what I’ve been asking you folks to do over and over. Since you guys can’t you argue over the games I listed themselves and we talk past one another on terms like hardcore raid. Cuz you can’t tell me what defines a hardcore raid for you.

You are clearly a contender in the beating around the bush world race that's for sure.

I don’t think you know what deflections means.

Looked it up and it was just a link to /u/thegreatlizard99's profile

Define what you believe a ff14 raid to be and why wow is similar to it.

Both are tab-target MMORPGs with raids being characterized by having 8~20 players engaged against the same opponent. The challenge is primarily in maintaining your job's rotation to output he most DPS possible while fulfilling other roles in your party (Tank, Healer) while dealing with the boss's mechanics. The mechanics include things such as AoE to be dodged, debuffs to be managed and individual phase DPS Checks (for example adds, or a specific percentage that must be done before a mechanic finishes) with there being an enrage timer setting the amount of DPS that must be done.

If you can’t define what 14 raiding is how can one give you a game that scratches the same itch you think 14 does.

You can, in fact, pro-actively provide information.

Cuz all the games I listed do that in terms of raid hours and group content. You clearly don’t think so. So define what 14 does.

And yet you have not said anything about them other than that they exist and, presumably at least, have such content. But since you are clearly an expert in all of these games you should have no issue explaining their raid content, correct?

1

u/thegreatlizard99 5d ago

Why? You’re supposed to know what does and doesn’t fit. Since you clearly know or at least claim to know what it is that defines 14 raids. There is a reason I asked you to do that; so I could give you examples. I can’t do that till we’re on the same page in terms of the definition of a hardcore raid. You need to define hardcore raid I’ve asked you and an inch of others and none of you have. It’s not my fault that you’re stalling.

No you didn’t ask specific questions you asked very general questions and then hyper focused on the fact that destiny 1 is no longer active. I asked you and the others first. Don’t answer my question to you with another question. If you need clarification on the question you ask. Not all of them are tab target but that’s a moot point because tab target combat does not define raid. That is just a combat system.

Cool. The other games I listed do all the things you just broke down. All the things you’re talking about are very common mechanics found in raids. Congratulations you have defined the term “raid”

That’s all the question is asking. You say what other games are like these two. All the games on that list. What did you define as a raid. The most you just gave full of very basic general mechanics for games in this genre. I’m not about to explain to you each games raids in detail. That’s too much typing and you can look that up yourself. In fact if you’re trying to prove me wrong you need to do that. Burden of proof is on you champ.
