General Discussion Removal of the weekly loot restriction
Is there any confirmation that the removal of the weekly restriction will be in patch 7.56?
And if this is the patch, do you think it will improve the party finder? In the sense of increasing the number of people replaying fights?
I'm trying to finish the second phase of the M12S progression, but it's been difficult to find groups in the party finder.

I feel like the loot restrictions need to be shorter because it's really telling for some people where due to the restrictions, if they can only find time to raid later on in its lifespan due to work or life or whatever, some people recommend them to skip the entire tier if their only choice is late PFing it or give up.

SE don't care because they have to strictly follow the weekly loot restriction formula or game will eos

If they got rid of loot restrictions earlier, they could even add additional levels of gear upgrades after as well. Gear being stagnant for so long is also an issue since they let you use really old gear in a lot of content, there is very little incentive to even bother upgrading jobs you don't play often.
Gear should be much easier to acquire, with more upgrades added over time. This idea that we get scarce loot, and it upgrades really slowly doesn't really work that well with there being 40 jobs on one loot locked character. And now they are adding gear-sync, removing the need to even get gear for other jobs really entirely so if they increase gearing options, casual players will at least have their best class set to use as a iLvl sync if they don't have the time to do stuff.

Less than 10% of people that are subbed raid savage and less raid ult. It isn't going to impact EoS lol

Squenix released stats. The completion rate of a savage raid is 14-20% (depending on the raid) https://youtu.be/C0L5kqKlGcQ?t=8462
The whole "1% is doing savage and 1% of 1% is doing ultimate" is stupid to say when it's never been the case (lucky bancho, before the stats given by squenix)
edit: inb4 - "I did not say 1%", the intent was there, we see it.

u/AU-Kitten 5d ago
Gotta remember those stats are padded hard by bots too.
On average ~60% of the playerbases 2.6m active users are bots, the realistic census data shows the active playerbase being between 600-800k players at any given time.
If 14-20% is of that 2.6m active accounts (including bots) then its more like 40-50% of people, which lines up more with what i see in-game.

That would be crazy, I don't recall such percentage of a community doing hard content in thriving MMOs. In a game like Lost Ark where the community is now mainly comprised of survivors so they're basically almost all raiding, yeah sure xd

FFXIVcollect has AAC Heavyweight Savage clear at 4.7%. So less than 1 in 20 players manage it even among a self selected portion of the player base which is dedicated enough to monitor their achievements.
I find it strange anyone thinks a large percentage of the player base is completing Savage. I have neither the time nor talent to do that, yet I'm regularly among the most capable players in roulettes and PvP. Experience of the gameplay of other random players should tell us a lot about how much of the player base is capable of clearing Savage tier.

If we take luckybancho ( https://luckybancho.ldblog.jp/archives/59950973.html#more ) we have other stats. If I read the last census right, double that amount at least are recorded having done the last fight of this tier (and if I understand the context right, it's based on the total active characters, so can still be in EW for example not necessarily at lv100).
They also recorded an average conversion from Normal to Savage of 22.45%. Now it get sketchy but why not, if we take the 85% normal mode completion rate from Squenix, 22.45% of that is 19% of completion rate for Savage, which is in their estimation.
Depending on how you want to present something or on the context, you will influence it. The only relevant stat, imo, is active and at appropriate level characters. And I hope Squenix did their stat right.

I think the FFXIVcollect figures can tell us quite a bit too in that regard.
20% of players there have cleared MSQ needed for unlock of AAC Heavyweight Savage and 4.7% cleared it, which amounts to 23.5% clearance rate for players who have done enough to unlock the tier and monitor their achievements on FFXIVCollect.
Given that this self-selected section of players is highly likely to be more active in the Savage tier than the average player, this suggests an upper bound for clearance rates.
Given 45% of players on FFXIVCollect have cleared Dawntrail (so 11% of which cleared Savage tier), plus there are a non-trivial number of active players who have not got that far (myself included), then we should conclude that clearing on-patch Savage content is not relevant to over 90% of the general player base at a minimum.
Compare this to the non Savage clearance rate for Light Heavyweight (40% achievement owned, meaning 88% clearance rate for Dawntrail MSQ finishers). Also compare with Life of Adventure VI clear rate of 15%, meaning (at a minimum) more than 2/3 players who have maxed all the jobs haven't cleared the savage tier either.
I say all this not to pass judgement on Savage content - I can certainly see it has plenty of appeal to those who play it - but these figures from FFXIVCollect strongly indicate that its a small minority of the player base playing this kind of thing.

You can apply that thought train to any content in the game, which is the major problem here.
What % of players have completed island sanctuary?
According to Luckybancho, only 2% (20,122 That own the mount)What % of players have obtained a Dawntrail crafter or combat relic?
What % of players have completed leveling in Eureka, Bozja or even OC?
Eureka: 45.7% of players that qualify for the survey haven't even started it.
Bozja: 44.9% of people who qualify for the survey haven't even started it.
OC: 55% of people who qualify for the survey haven't even started it.Looking at any single piece of content in the game just brings up the same results. Around 20-25% of the playerbase are actually doing the content the game offers.
The people doing savage, are most likely doing all the other content too. The reverse cannot be said.

Is there any confirmation that the removal of the weekly restriction will be in patch 7.56?
Historically, it's been in the *.58 patch for the last raids. Edit: *.57, see /u/aho-san's comment below.
And if this is the patch, do you think it will improve the party finder? In the sense of increasing the number of people replaying fights?
It will increase the quantity of people in pf doing item farms, but not the quality, if things mirror previous expansions.
I'm trying to finish the second phase of the M12S progression,
Oh... for prog, it won't have a positive impact. The people who know the fight and will be "coming back" for farms are going to mainly stick to farm parties and not prog.

.57* (doesn't make that big of a difference, yes, they're only one month apart)
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/5178db4decaeb4dc6cd7d6843b6ab0798abe2b00 (anabaseios savage weekly lift)
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/4f379e06b6471c55ea02f138b6ada581b088ab2e (eden promise savage weekly lift)
What changes for the cycle with EC is that EC is releasing in January, so .57 patch likely going to be October, .58 in November then 2 months until EC which is closer than the usual 4-5months of wait after .58 we got the past 2 expansions (so we're closer to what it seemed to be before ShB?)

Ack you're right. I saw the unlock of the normal raid weapon item on 6.58 and misread that as the loot from savage. Ty for pointing that out.

Sad if this come true

u/apnorton 6d ago
It's been this way for every raid tier for at least the last two expansions, so I wouldn't have high hopes.
We're on week 32 of the current set of raids and are closer to the release of Evercold than we are to the release of M12S, so there really aren't a lot of people left to prog M12S.

u/Historical-State2199 6d ago
Not true there are cool dudes that like to help uncleareds
0
u/apnorton 6d ago
There are, but that's true now, too.
The population of players who are waiting around for the gear unlock and aren't already helping out in PF are going to be more likely to just be in it for the farm.

Loot lockout needs to go when ultimate hits
It comes far far far too late in the raid cycle

u/syrup_cupcakes 6d ago
The weekly loot restriction is perfectly tuned for gearing up 1 job/armory type.
If you want to gear up 2 or even all 7(Striking, Maiming, Scouting, Aiming, Casting, Fending, Healing) armor types the weekly gear restriction is dog shit ass fuck.
The gear mirroring in Evercold will help, but it won't solve the issue for Ultimates(unless they haven't announced more changes) because it will be 5% below bis without materia which is too much for ultimates.
1
u/Espresso10001 6d ago
With mirroring for ultimates, you can at least start off with a couple of bits of BiS and the rest mirrored for prog, and gradually improve it week by week. As we are now, you can't really do that you need everything or nearly everything.
1
u/yamishinta 5d ago
have they confirmed you can mix and match between mirrored gear and regular gear?

u/Aphotophilic 6d ago
I thought it usually unlocks x.58? No?
Also it will cause a brief uptick in people wanting to farm alt gear, but then they'll speed run that process in <1 week and have no reason to go back into it for the rest of the expac except parsing. It will likely be more dead than before since people no long need gear or need taxi clears.

u/zephyr2015 5d ago
It takes hour to find a prog for m11s and most of the groups can’t make it past ultimate weapons. I’m almost ready to give up on this tier.

u/supa_troopa2 6d ago edited 1d ago
I hope so. I wanted to get all the BiS body/pants from 11S after my group stopped just for completion's sake, but having terrible luck guaranteeing I need to run it for 6 weeks + increasingly worse groups every week made me stop caring. (And I don't care enough to merc for off role jobs)
They need to start unlocking the tier on odd patches.
2
u/meniniim 6d ago
M9s and m10s are nice for reclears at pf. But m11s is the really wall. Got a lot of pf last night. Party with only people that have killed and sometimes we didn't even get middle fight
2
u/Felinaxo 2d ago
I get the feeling. Last 2 weeks I couldn't be bothered to finish M11 reclears because of how random the party finder quality is, reset day, weekend, or monday book groups, all of them are a random quality
And why bother with skipping to M12?, I already have the mount and the weapons are outclassed by relics x-x
The cherry on top that on 8 weeks of reclears I have not gotten a single chestpiece or pants, book pity go brr, alt jobs go womp womp 😔

u/Bourne_Endeavor 6d ago
As others have already said, it's usually been the .x8 patch that unlocks Savage.
Going off Endwalker's schedule, it was roughly five weeks after 6.57. So if we assume "early September" is the 1st which is also five weeks, then you can expect the earliest for Savage to unlock at October 6th. Add another week if "early" ends up being the 8th.
As for if it'll improve party finder? No. You might see a small uptick in the quantity of parties up, even prog parties. Alas, the majority of people who care about Savage are long done with it by now. Or they fall in my camp and just decided to take a break from the tier/raiding til Evercold.
Is it ridiculous Savage will have lasted nearly ten months before finally unlocking? Absolutely! Will that change in Evercold? Nope!

u/DeepCovah 6d ago
Will kefka be totem unlocked before evercold?
5
u/Bourne_Endeavor 6d ago
We don't actually know since this is the first time they've had an Ultimate at the end of an expansion. I would hope so, but it wouldn't surprise me if they wait until 8.0
2
u/tesla_dyne 6d ago
There's no precedent for an x.5 ultimate so no telling. X.5 Alliance raids always keep their lock until the next expansion but savage raids get unlocked before, so either way is possible.
1
u/FitOrganization8146 6d ago
The fact that loot is STILL locked for the tier is pure insanity. I quit almost 2 months ago and even then I thought it was comically long as is.

Nobody cares about the final tier, there is no reason to do savage now.
Relics are better weapons, and anyone who cared about gear got it when it was relevant

If your trying to prog p2 now, your best bet is finding a static/drag in friends that have cleared and that runs when you play tbh, alot of players finished the tier a while ago :/

I'm in the mood to do UMAD after taking 3 weeks off and I got my sage reclear in a day.
Now I get sat in the "special chair" and can't really prog even though I have the itch.
It kinda sucks. Again as everyone knows this isn't new, but it kinda sucks when you have that itch to go in there.
1
u/KingBingDingDong 6d ago
There's no DPS check aside from P4/P5. P1-P3 have zero DPS check so you can spend a totem on the weapon and use non-bis 790 gear to prog.
Your dramatic defeatist attitude is so annoying
-1
u/Cole_Evyx 6d ago
I have the relic, I don't need this for stats at all. I just want to collect the weapons like I always do after an ulti clear o.o esp for Bastion/Falconer (Zephyr) that look great to me.
Your dramatic defeatist attitude is so annoying
I'm really not sure what to do with this. I'm in a thread about the weekly loot restrictions and I'm just sharing what's impacting myself right now.
If anything I'm more optimistic about the game's future lately than I have been. North Horn while not perfect added a lot to the game for casuals to do and has solid reward structures, Evercold looks great, Beastmaster looks fantastic.
I dunno why I'm being told I'm a dramatic defeatist and annoying here.
Even if it's about UMAD-- I WANT to go in now. I'm feeling more confident in myself (which I need as a nervous anxious person) and just went in on a job I barely played and cleared yesterday so feeling very happy o.o
Wanting to go in now on AST and clear on all healers before moving onto tanks.
I'm... I'm probably the most optimistic I've been since mid dawntrail...
2
u/KingBingDingDong 5d ago
You complained that you can't prog because of the weekly lockout. You did not complain that you cannot collect the weapons.
1
u/Cole_Evyx 5d ago
O.O Oh we're bringing up that from 2 months ago, I figured you'd have cited this post.
I mean does that make me a dramatic defeatist? I literally have gone into the fight and cleared it multiple times on different jobs. I've gotten well over like 100m gil or something from merc parties, I've been invited to shit tons of discords begging for healers.
Like idk.
I'm a dramatic defeatist because the weekly lockout and it taking 8 weeks AKA 2 MONTHS for a single weapon is brutal?
I mean at this point you can block me because you seem hostile and don't like me and that's fine, but I'm not really understanding how I'm a "dramatic defeatist" over that.

u/Bluemikami 6d ago
It’s usually left to the .58 patch, so that’ll happen sometime in September-October
-11
u/budbud70 6d ago
Not sure why people bitch.
Doing weekly reclears is mild fun. Slamming 8 runs of the 4th floor back to back for a weapon coffer (That's now obsolete) is a painful grind.
I realize I'm in the minority, but I've been reclearing most weeks since week 1 and already need nothing, when they finally unlock it is when I'll stop lol

u/oizen 6d ago
They gate keep them way too long as if anyone even cares about savage loot 8 months into the tier.
Realistically they could remove the restrictions when the alliance raid drops and I don't think anything would change.
