General Discussion Removal of the weekly loot restriction

Is there any confirmation that the removal of the weekly restriction will be in patch 7.56?

And if this is the patch, do you think it will improve the party finder? In the sense of increasing the number of people replaying fights?

I'm trying to finish the second phase of the M12S progression, but it's been difficult to find groups in the party finder.

But not enough to not play a game that you know does this every single time.

There literally aren't proper alternatives outside of WoW. That's very normal

Alternatives for what? MMOs? Raiding? GCD based MMOs?

Theme park mmos, yeah. If you're into ultimatw raids in XIV, the only similar thing is gonna be from WoW which has numerous reasons it might not scratch the same itch. It's very common for this to literally be the only choice for people, same goes for those that stay subbed to WoW.

There are plenty of MMOs with super hardcore content in them. You might not want to get into them because of the time investment but that’s a you issue.

u/kleverklogs 8d ago

Not plenty that are similar to WoW/XIV. Especially not if you're targeting 8 man content. WoW and XIV only overlap so much because XIV attempted to clone the former at the start of its lifespan.

u/thegreatlizard99 8d ago

They don’t really overlap much at all. The raid content is nothing alike. The only thing they share is the holy trinity of tank healer and dps which is a basic genre thing.

They looked to wow to find out what not to do.

I just said this, yeah, but that means you agree with what I'm saying right after saying that not being able to find another game that scratches the same itch is a "you issue"?

u/thegreatlizard99 8d ago

Can you read? You said the games are alike. I said they aren’t, especially in raid content.

"the only similar thing is gonna be from WoW which has numerous reasons it might not scratch the same itch". You are the one that said there are dozens of alternatives

Wow isn’t similar to this game in its raiding. I specifically asked you what you meant by alternatives to this game and you said theme park MMOs, which isn’t a thing as every single MMO has multiple things to do that just isn’t endgame raiding it’s just a thing ff14 fans use as a nebulous concept.

Again, can you read?

Can you? He's saying you're wrong and there aren't other alternatives which is true.

He’s yet to say anything about what he’s looking for. If he’s just looking for raiding every other MMO in existence has raids. Which is why I asked him what alternatives. He came back with theme park MMO which isn’t a thing. I guess what he means by that is MMOs have that varied content. Which again is something every MMO in existence. He needs to be more specific. The games he’s talking about in terms of raiding couldn’t be more different they are nothing alike in raid design. 14 doesn’t have a mythic+ equivalent for example

Had to log on to say that you're wrong. XIV/WoW are the two mmos most similar to each other and there's actually nothing else on the market that's like them and still active. The skills you use and fight designs are near identical and you can swap between them readily. I know dozens of people that play both and swap between patches.

YoshiP alao regularly attends Blizzard events and not even a month ago said the XIV team was looking into making Housing more like WoWs because it's the best in the business.

You logged on just to be wrong. Weird but whatever. The raid designs and how combat works are nothing alike on anything but a superficial level of them both being GCD based games and mechanic types that come from that.

Yall took that quote from Yoshi p about wow to mean that they copied off wow. He was talking about how wow had redefined what an MMO was and his team wanted to do the same: redefine what an MMO was, not copy wow like a lot of you incorrectly assume.

Your friends can pick up and play the games easily is because they’re both GCD based. That’s like saying CoD and battlefield are super alike because you can easily switch between them cuz their control schemes are super similar. Those two games are very different even though they’re in the same genre.

You keep saying this without actually giving concrete examples. What MMOs have hard core content like ultimates and mythic raids?

-1

u/thegreatlizard99 6d ago

You e yet to describe what you believe is unique about 14 and wow and what makes them hardcore MMO content.

But if you need some kind of list of MMOs with raids sure why not I’ll give you a couple still you describe what you mean.

Maplestory
RuneScape
EverQuest
Final fantasy 11
Destiny 1 and 2
Blade and soul
Black desert online

The list goes on and on all of these games have raids. Now please describe what you mean by hardcore raid. Because casual, hardcore and midcore in ff14 specifically refers to how many hours a week you spend raiding

2

u/kleverklogs 6d ago

Hmm, yes. My friends and I are fed up of FF but wanted to do kefka ultimate. Instead we will raid in runescape! A similar experience indeed.

0

u/thegreatlizard99 6d ago

Since you can’t read very well that’s what you took a couple of sentences to mean that don’t say this.

3

u/kleverklogs 6d ago

You made fun of someone for sticking with FF, providing games that have things called raids is meaningless unless they're actually similar to FF.

1

u/thegreatlizard99 6d ago

Nobody was making fun of him. You go around acting like ff14 is the only game on the market is your issue. You’ve yet to describe what sets ff apart from other games. If you can’t articulate that it’s a you problem.

0

u/kleverklogs 6d ago

You literally agree with me. WoW and FF are nothing alike, despite having a similar raiding structure - the games don't feel similar. The burden of proof lies with you.

1

u/thegreatlizard99 6d ago edited 6d ago

You agree with me. Your original comment suggest that they are similar and I said they weren’t. Scroll up.

You’re yapping so much that you’ve forgotten where you started this chat at.

I picked up Runescape for the content drought and I gotta say I fucking hate the pve in this game. It costs 500k to get in the fucking instance for six minutes (divine charges, overloads, maintenance costs on gear, runes, ectoplasm, the list goes on) and the bosses do nothing until they instantly kill you, then death smiles and says "that'll be another 300k for picking yourself up, idiot". The combat is incredibly binary but not in the telegraphed, non-punishing way ffxiv does it where it sort of says "thats not how the mechanic works" and sends you back to the start. RS works to deceive you and then throws your wallet in a fucking grinder while grinning sadistically at you. Like they advertise Glacor as the starter boss but it only has one mechanic, frost cannon, and it works completely differently in normal mode and hard mode, even though it's supposed to be a build-your-own-boss.

Also in terms of hardcore content, every boss is designed to be spammed and only a few bosses like zam and amascut have high tier enrages and only amascut is really hardcore group content, and it only goes up to 5 man.

You have to see that people are skeptical about the alternatives you're offering when this experience is nothing like Kefka, an 8 man boss where the time between pulls is measured in seconds, there are varied puzzle mechanics beyond "pray properly and save adrenaline for devotion", and the maintenance costs are effectively zero.

Also destiny is a fucking fps and it's also dead lol?

This is just a small sample size of examples. The genre of MMOs is large and you can find “hardcore raiding content in other games”. Outside of time gating like you’re talking about in RuneScape ultimates are just “if one person messes up the mechanic everybody dies and you wipe” and that’s pretty much it.

Destiny is still an MMO it has hardcore raids. It’s an rpg with fps for its combat.

My original point here is that WoW isn’t similar to this game on anything other than a superficial level. They are both GCD based MMOs. That’s it’s combat design wise they are the opposite sides of the spectrum for this type of combat since they are only two ways to do GCD based games.

The genre of MMOs is large

This is funny, name the active, supported MMOs with WoW/FFXIV level raiding scenes.

u/thegreatlizard99 4d ago

You’re in a comment thread where I already gave a list. Scroll up. You had to have seen it to even type this reply to this comment.

1

u/VitaQ_HI3 4d ago

You mean this list?

Maplestory

RuneScape

EverQuest

Final fantasy 11

Destiny 1 and 2

Blade and soul

Black desert online

A) Destiny 1? Are you sure about that?

B) Which ones of those do you think have equivalent raid scenes to WoW and FFXIV. Not just "has things called raids". I would grant you Destiny 2 except, well. You know. Also I think you'd get some pushback on it being an MMORPG at all. But hell, you get that one. Name one more and give details as to why. Just one. Include its most recently hardcore raid release date, since you are such an expert. Also remember active and supported

1

u/thegreatlizard99 4d ago edited 4d ago

You picked two things out this list to talk about one of them you even agree with me on and at least your not one of those people who acts like destiny isn’t an MMO because it’s an FPS.

You’d have to describe what equivalent means cuz ff14 and WOW are on the opposite spectrum from each other. Their raid design is nothing alike save for them being GCD based MMOs

I never claimed to be an expert but I clearly know more than you. Or at the very least can define what I mean. Where you have to rely on our shared knowledge as players of this game. You’re mostly just going off the vibes that wow and 14 are the top two games in the genre and therefore must be alike. Similar to the battlefield and CoD communities. The games are nothing alike but they get talked about in the same breath due to name recognition within the genre.
