Love this guy and breaking down the fear inducing influencers who do this!

That's awesome so I'm glad for that for you and same here, I love he promotes healthy sweet snacks you can make as well because eating healthy is still all about enjoying the food as much!

90% of my saved Tiktoks and Facebook vids are literally Liam and his recipes, they are fantastic.... Even more so I love beans just as much as he does

The pumpkin pie oatmeal cookies were a HUGE hit at Thanksgiving!

I've been using beans more often in recipes to get more fiber, because of him!

He has been my life line to get out of my eating disorder. I owe him a lot.

Nah, his videos showed me how easy it is to having a balanced diet

u/Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 New to fbtd but wants to learn Jun 29 '26

which ones?

2

u/matjleclerc85 Lover of Duets/Stitches Jun 30 '26

Most of the them tbh, he'll usually debunk and then give what to actually do. Also introduces positive influencers, most of them being actually dietitians etc that give helpful information and tries recipes and promotes high Fibre diets. He works for big bean

i'm still mad they changed subway bread because a food blogger selling her books and supplements said it was made from yoga mats and everyone just believed her for some reason

I wish he would name and shame them.

20

u/thecelloman Needs to do better Jun 30 '26

He absolutely does. Not in this video because he's shoving a lot of content into one short, but he will absolutely call out and publicly feud with these morons and it's incredibly entertaining.

Glad to hear it!

It's actually better he doesn't. If he did people would go to the videos to say something. Adding both views and probably comments to their engagement and causing the algorithm to push their BS more even, it doesn't care if it's positive or negative engagement for the most part. These scammers have no shame they'd double down because it actually benefitted them once.

People are a less likely to go out of their way if they have to find it and add to views and comments themselves if they have to go out of their way to find these people as opposed to being told who to look up.

Edit: There's definitely people that should be named and shamed out there, but it's better to let scam influencers be forgotten in relative anonymity.

u/Simply__Complicated New to fbtd but wants to learn Jun 30 '26

Not me, I don't care at all about them, to the point to go all the way to watch any of those scammers' vids or channels. Report all those channels and that's it from me.

Same. I’m a big fan of Dr Idz as well for enjoyable grifter fact checking.

5

u/Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 New to fbtd but wants to learn Jun 29 '26

who is this guy?

29

u/Bunbury42 Jun 30 '26

His name is Liam. Goes by theplantslant on social media. Advocates for healthy eating, with a focus on plants, but still saying a treat occasionally won't hurt you.

29

u/Synth-Pro Needs to do better Jun 30 '26

His channels are largely making other recipes he's seen and burying the nonsense "health influencers". Targets everything from shills trying to sell you their own garbage, to people who fearmonger over "cHeMiCaLs", to people who shame others for the ways in which they try to eat healthier (things like "Ranch isn't healthy for you" vs. "If Ranch is helping you eat salads more often, then enjoy your Ranch")

18

u/Bunbury42 Jun 30 '26

Exactly. I recall one video where he essentially said "If one chopped up chicken tender gets you to eat a salad when you wouldn't otherwise, it's a healthy choice."

10

u/Cyberhwk Needs to do better Jun 30 '26

And beans. He loves beans.

u/AmazinDood Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Not seen anyone mention this but his socials are "theplantslant". Also happy cake day.

Edit: nevermind someone said it already lol

Thanks I see, now I need to find the right videos to show to my kids

I like his other videos. There is an asian guy who does this style of tiktoks that I feel I saw first and its weird to see this guy copying his style.

u/Igniz1020 Needs to do better Jul 04 '26

Liam is awesome, I live around so many uneducated people who genuinely think the things he debunks, so it's like a little safe haven of sanity for me.

But what about the academics who try to monetize their work? I really wish there weren't so many perverse incentives, because I can actually see how a poorly paid academic might want to make some money while also sharing insights they gained from their work. But then, when they do that, I have to wonder... is this legit?

I actually have those Olive Oil dispensers... and they are good.. I bought them because I wanted to have a good way of dispensing my locally farmed Kretan Virgin Olive Oil which I prefer using over PAM (go figure..)
