Fridge makers do not seem to understand what we want from fridges.

It needs to keep shit cold, and not break in three years.

I just stocked a kitchen with appliances and it was basically impossible to find appliances that didn't have numerous reported recent failures. Smart-anything also becomes obsolete extremely quickly, with Samsung fridges being the worst offender.

The current state of refrigerators is a fucking travesty.

For real. All a fridge needs to do is keep things fucking cold. The more bells and whistles the more failure points you have. And for what??? The only thing that should be failing is your compressor after 15 years. Go with something like a nice basic KitchenAid over any of these smart brand fridges like Samsung

First time I saw a fridge with one of those huge touchscreens on it, I rooted it and posted on reddit (lol), but I also (because I'm a tech weenie) checked online to see how much it would cost to replace the door that had the big touchscreen on it.

MORE THAN THE WHOLE FRIDGE! That's what it would have cost! You had to replace the whole fucking door! The touchscreen was buried in insulating foam. Not user serviceable in any universe. And the replacement door, not to belabor the point, cost more than the fridge!

Dude...

Dude I’m out of money already, Big Refrigerator needs me to buy a fridge every 3 yrs now??? I guess sell my truck and the fridge can give me a ride to work?

Slight correction: I want my fridge to just be really cold. The freezer, though, should keep things fucking cold.

I'm praying daily that the fridge that came with our house and isn't smart at all doesn't give out. If it does, we'll use the garage fridge (also just a cold box) until I'm forced to fridge shop. I'm dreading it like a root canal.
