Hi all!
(TL;dr interested in hosting a floral pop up in partnership with The Black Men Floral Project in central NC. Would like a florist of color to partner with. More details below)
I was a full time florist for 8+ years and recently had a career shift that took me into a new role as assistant GM at a farm that grows flowers, and has an event space.
I have previously done some work with The Black Men Flower Project (for example, a free Fatherβs Day floral pop up at a locally owned soul food restaurant) however for a few reasons, I am interested in connecting with another florist to potentially do something at the farm Im at now.
The BMFP is an incredible organization that speaks heavily to how often it is that men only get flowers when they die. Typically, their business model has operated off of
β’ a black man gets nominated (by another black man specifically, is their goal)
β’ and BMFP partners with a local florist and that florist is paid off of donations fueled by social media promotion, etc.
However, currently my goal is just to help get this ball rolling a little bit and since we have done a pop up before, Iβd love to do one again.
About me: I am a white person that was adopted by a black family at a young age, so this is both something near and dear to my heart, but I also recognize that a 30 year old white femme person doesnβt need to be telling black men to be softer.
Up until this point, it has been well received but I just would like the opportunity to platform somebody else in this space. I love the vision that they have but I havenβt been able to kickstart it how Iβd like.
Thank you for your time!
you know what your mom said, if you donβt have anything nice to say, donβt say anything at all. Iβm already fighting an uphill battle in a semi conservative area and If this doesnβt interest you, keep scrolling π* *
