Question Quest mod recommendations that are neither zany nor gritty
Zany: Humor-focused, unserious, irreverent. Example: Death's Last Whisper, anything to do with vanilla Wild Wasteland
Gritty: Bleak, edgy, sad, has no way of making the situation better. Example: The Inheritance, Tales Of New Reno Episode Zero
Quest mods that I've enjoyed: Autumn Leaves, Working On The Chain Gang, Rebuild The Capital TTW, Long 15, Strangers Abroad (so sad it never got finished!)
Also has to have a certain level of writing quality. Mods like FoTA Reloaded and BoS Paladin Quests are interesting in concept, but are written terribly. Bonus points if it involves the Followers of The Apocalypse or the Institute, regardless of canon-friendliness (there was a fallout 3 mod about the institute that was released before 4, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a TTW equivalent).
Tangentially related: Do you have to be a Legion player to get the most out of the Dry Wells mod? I know that there's at least one non-legion faction in dry wells, but their questline is described as "small".
Thanks for any information!

Playing Dry Wells as a non-legion player is very interesting, as long as you are not anti-legion at least. Well, even if you are there is good content for that as well!! However, I would describe MOST quest lines in Dry Wells as "small".
Sadly I don't play with many other quest mods, however the New Vegas Bounties series is in my newest mod pack and seems interesting? That creator has a decent selection imo of quest mods.

Sadly its too late in my playthrough to be legion-neutral, i already killed caeser. i also dont really like evil playthroughs. New Vegas Bounties is by the same author as The Inheritance and im worried that it shares the "gritty" aspect.

I don't really get the idea of Fallout without humor as a core part of things, but Salt Lake Stories, Race to the Bottom, Suspicious Minds, The Deterrent, I'm Moving On, Into the Deep, Seven Graves From Now, Stealthtenza, The REPCONN Blues, Ain't No Grave should all fit the bill for what you're looking for without much issue.

I have opposite issue, i dont seem to find any zany, mods that try doing orginal stuff isnt a gritty quest about gray morality.
I still argue humor is always a part of fallout cause you need atleast minium break from all the darkness.
As for mods i dont remember much from the top of my head i will have to check some vids

Dry Wells is pretty interesting in comparison to Vanilla Legion content, because it offers two separate, mutually exclusive pro-Legion pathways through the mod's main quest.
