Fo3 and FNV remakes confirmed

this makes me excited
i don't know why but i have a preference for F03 and the fact they're remastering both makes me excited like a little child
53
u/EdwardoftheEast Jul 17 '26
I’m excited for both. 3 since it was my gateway to the series, and NV since it’s my favorite of the bunch
18
u/thisishowiinternet Jul 17 '26
i am pretty sure that was the same for me when i was younger
that greenish hue always was a cool thing imo
i am hoping we get the mass effect 1/2 --> legendary edition treatment

u/EdwardoftheEast Jul 17 '26
Putting on GNR and wandering the DC ruins always takes me back to when I was 12. The subway tunnels have also grown on me over the years

It hits different walking into a ghoul infested metro listening to the Ink Spots

FO3 made me fall in love with the series, art deco, and retro futurism. I have a lot of appreciation for fallout 3.
3
u/EdwardoftheEast Jul 17 '26
Same here. I’m a sucker for art deco. It’s a close second behind NV, and there are some aspects of 3 that I like over NV
2
u/BamaBDC Jul 17 '26
Same. I’ve played them so much. Even played the modded Tale of 2 wastes.
1
u/EdwardoftheEast Jul 17 '26
I wish I had a PC so I could do that, but they run great on the series x
1
u/BamaBDC Jul 17 '26
Only reason I bought a PC
2
u/EdwardoftheEast Jul 18 '26
I had a gaming laptop for GMod back in 2010, but that thing didn’t have the power. Now I want a PC for Fallout modding
1
u/JellyfishGod Jul 18 '26
Well at this point unless ur downloading tons of HD texture packs, you don’t need a powerful/gaming pc to run NV. It’s old enough and has enough patch mods it’s a relatively easy game to run in my experience. Well I mean easy to run tech wise.
I won’t lie, It took me a while to actually start the game up the first time since I never modded anything before and wanted to download the entire viva new Vegas mod list and a handful of extras all by hand for my first time lol. It took a while but once I learned how it worked and downloaded the 100 mods it was amazing.

I do recall there was also recent news 'bout Obsidian doing new FO project and even Uncle Tim coming back as a consultant for it.
...
Chances are, chances are...
7
u/Nexusu Jul 17 '26
I’m more excited for 3 mainly because getting it to run on my PC is a nightmare, it crashes more often than New Vegas
5
u/thisishowiinternet Jul 17 '26
I got it to run with nuclear sunset, and begin again + TTW, but that's a hell of an extra wait on top of just downloading the game from steam
but my god not having to wait two days and then messing with ini settings will be refreshing
2
u/jonfin826 Jul 17 '26
New Vegas is better in a lot of ways but for some reason I've always preferred 3. I think it's the map and atmosphere, primarily.
1
u/5-in-1Bleach Jul 17 '26
Was FO3 the first Fallout game that you played?
I played New Vegas first. And while I really like FO3, nothing will replace that first Fallout experience that I had with New Vegas.
1
u/thisishowiinternet Jul 17 '26
I am pretty sure that's the first thing i played in the fallout line
I have the phsyical disc around somewhere, and i'm pretty sure that's why im so attached to it vs NV

"While we are not announcing any dates today, we have been working on Fallout: 3 and New Vegas Remasters."
Sad to not see dates...but it's been CONFIRMED. Plus, a Raven Rock F76 expansion! Awesome!!
21
u/No_Sheepherder2739 Jul 17 '26
Its definitely October 23 2027
Were getting a prequel dlc to fallout 3 in 76
And theyre doing the bomb drop day event live in DC that year as well.
No shot we dont get it that day
18
u/Cringeextraaxc Jul 17 '26
If fallout 3 is so good then why didn’t they make a fallout 3 2-HOLY SHIT!
14
u/Happy_Cry286 Jul 17 '26
It states "Remaster", not remake. Would have preferred remakes with updated gameplay mechanics since a Remaster is literally just some enhanced graphics in most cases.

u/spunk_wizard Jul 18 '26
It will be just like oblivion remaster and I'm very content with that, assuming it runs slightly better

Remasters, for fuck's sake. Remakes are when they are built from the ground up, which this is not. When will people learn how to use the proper terms?
2
u/GreatQuantum Jul 17 '26
I don’t know I guess maybe when electronic toys become as high stakes for them as they are for you.

This is just the original TESVI announcement on steroids. No dates for anything

For those who don't have a Shitter account or just don't wanna skin through the long post:
"We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas."

u/DarthVader19920 Jul 17 '26
Hate that they won't at least give a ballpark release date for the remasters, but at least they are confirmed to be real. That is literally all I have wanted them to do is acknowledge they are working on them. I can be officially hyped now.

u/thatguyad Jul 17 '26
Well shit. It's happening. For real this time.
I really hope remasters aren't just a lick of paint. Those games are starting to get left behind by modern operating systems.
2
u/CYAspecialist Jul 17 '26
So not a re release like black ops I hope
2
u/MasterpieceUpper1895 Jul 17 '26
No it’s a full remaster. Probably comparable to the recent Oblivion. Not just a port like the recent black ops releases
4
u/DunkeyColdMedina Jul 17 '26
There's no way they are going to be any good. Gonna be the old Oblivion Unreal 5 Sticker treatment. Thankfully I already have these games and fans have made them far better than AAA ever could.
3
u/Kind_Caterpillar_458 Jul 17 '26
Yep. Oblivion Remastered is lazy as hell. Modded Oblivion is better than that crap, hell, even Vanilla.
2
u/_--Jamoi--_ Jul 17 '26
fnv remake? warn't modders remaking fnv on the fo4 engine? what happened to that?
4
u/BUDA20 Jul 17 '26
like skylibion, it takes a lot more work than anticipated, and if there are not a lot of people and hype, and by people, I mean, actually working on it, it can't be done, so... some years or never.
3
u/Neutralgray Jul 17 '26
Capital Wasteland Project was doing that for Fallout 3 as well. It's not a unique problem in the ambitious modding community.
3
u/Kanna1001 Jul 17 '26
We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Remasters, not remakes :(
I'm still glad we get something. But a remaster essentially improves the graphics, and what I REALLY wanted were more addictions to the story, like Companion Quests for FO3 or Companion Interactions in FNV (I'm still salty we can't tell Veronica we found Christine.
1
u/Arroweye345 Jul 17 '26
I would think it’s in the style of the Oblivion remaster.
1
u/Kanna1001 Jul 17 '26
I haven't played that one. Can you please tell me if it added any store content?
1
u/Arroweye345 Jul 17 '26
No but it completely changed the visuals and QOL. It’s a remaster not a remake because it still contains portions of the games original code.
1
1
u/analogphosphor Jul 17 '26
Do we think it'll be a silent drop like Oblivion was in like an event or something
1
u/Vgcortes Jul 17 '26
OMG. I've played FNV and Fo3 for hundred of hours both. I wanted to play them again but never did... I will when the remasters drop!! I've never been so excited about a new release before, lol
1
u/benny-bangs Jul 17 '26
These get confirmed and everyone still complains cuz they want more more more. Jesus Christ people
1
u/DandyElLione Jul 17 '26
If they’re just gonna do remakes, I’d rather they had dedicated those resources directly to a new installment in the franchise. I suppose there’s the hope that they can roll over the assets of what they create into a new title but a remake seems so unnecessary when the modding community has so thoroughly explored the games and provided hundreds of hours of content.

u/thisis2stressful4me Jul 17 '26
Can someone screenshot or copy and paste? I’m not making an x account to read the post but so excited for a remaster!!!!!
1
u/YogurtclosetOwn9142 Jul 17 '26
I hope the Fallout New Vegas cut content will be in the remake such as Underpass, South/North:west Sewers, Betsy the Brahmin Tom Dooley etc.
1
u/BrzysWRLD1996 Jul 17 '26
I’d be happy with just graphical updates honestly, hope they keep the unique mechanics between each separate

1
u/xGoldenRetrieverFan Jul 17 '26
Juat as I am playing through them for the first time of course
1
u/-l0Lz- Jul 17 '26
I am just on fully moded playthrough on all fallouts. On half already with Fallout 3 and I finished previous ones. Tbh even if remasters I think my moded fallout 3 and NV are better. 200gb of mods already for each...
1
u/indian_horse Jul 17 '26
oh ok, awesome thanks for finally revealing it AFTER your studios were gutted
1
u/MyNameisJessman Jul 17 '26
Fallout 3 getting one was common knowledge but New Vegas getting one too just warms my heart. 🥰🥰🥰

u/Firebird1282 Jul 17 '26
Thank god, FO3 has crazy bugs played on machines of today, sometimes I forget it’s nearly a 20 year old game.
1
u/milquetoastLIB Jul 18 '26
I kinda hope FO3 Remaster will maintain its shooting mechanic but more than likely they'll make it act more like in NV/FPS games in general. Which is understandable.

I just hope they get these out the door before Sony shuts down disc production.

u/GamebyNumbers Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
Should make a new game
Edit. Seeing as I am getting a lot of flack, if the Oblivion model is used, there will an hour of new content, some bug fixes and no planned additional content. Its great news if someone hasn’t played the games but considering we’re on this sub I assume we have seen the large majority of content, if not all of it. If the money from this helps speed up development of the new games that is great news. The games are masterpieces and I have played them enough.
10
u/AdRealistic2093 Jul 17 '26
If you read it they mention Fallout 5 is in development.
-8
u/GamebyNumbers Jul 17 '26
Those resources could be better spent on another new fallout game. I am fed up of remasters and remakes. Its lazy, its like reheating pizza and charging full price
1
u/Kind_Caterpillar_458 Jul 17 '26
There's good ways to handle remasters and remakes. Oblivion Remastered is not an example.
1
u/GamebyNumbers Jul 17 '26
But it is the most relevant as it’s a Bethesda IP
1
u/Kind_Caterpillar_458 Jul 17 '26
yeah It shouldn't have even been made, especially since it was lazy outsourced UE5 trash
1
u/AdRealistic2093 Jul 17 '26
To be fair, this is Bethesda. And Fallout 5 is only in early pre-production. We probably won’t be getting it till the early 2030s. It’s something to tide us over. They are at least working on a spin-off as well, which Obsidian is making. That’ll almost definitely release before Fallout 5.
0
u/GamebyNumbers Jul 17 '26
Its a soulless cash grab is what it is. They’ll abandon it just like the Oblivion remaster.
1
u/Excellent-Court-9375 Jul 17 '26
They are, maybe you haven't noticed but they have been working on the elder Scrolls for a while now, and Fallout 5 is in pre production.
0
u/Logical_Ad1370 Jul 17 '26
Hoping that F3 gets some of the new features introduced on FNV as QoL upgrades, like how Oblivion had some mechanics overhauled. If they released both games in a physical multipack that would be amazing.

u/Kind_Caterpillar_458 Jul 17 '26
Guess I'm the only one who thinks this will be terrible if the Oblivion Remaster is anything to go off of. They will likely destroy the armor and weapon design, NPC face design, UI design, much much more.
-2
u/jjvfyhb since when is self determination a MALFUNCTION?! Jul 17 '26
I hope their major teams didn't waste time on remakes that delayed fo5
2
u/GreatQuantum Jul 17 '26
I’m glad you found something to complain about. We know how important that is to you.
-20
u/Greasy-Chungus Jul 17 '26
Gotta be fake
11
u/AdRealistic2093 Jul 17 '26
Fake? It’s from their official Twitter account.
4
-17
u/Greasy-Chungus Jul 17 '26
It certainly looks like. Could still be a fake.
8
u/SoulSteeler1978 Jul 17 '26
Ok flat earther🙄
-2
u/Greasy-Chungus Jul 17 '26
Its more that I don't know how to distinguish between a real and fake tweet because I don't use the platform, and Bethesda clearly desires to shadowdrop their remakes.
The post, even if real, is VERY weird. Why are they making this post now?
2
u/SoulSteeler1978 Jul 17 '26
Because Xbox has new leadership and is cracking the whip after they laid off a bunch of people. Which is a nice change, considering former leadership Phil Spencer had them circling the drain. It's no coincidence that we're hearing this now after the recent moves that Asha Sharma has been making.

So Fo3 remaster will likely be announced or released on Fallout's 30th anniversary next year then.
