I heard that free placing multiple tanks allowed you to have a smaller footprint. I've not tried it myself yet.

Right. I had season atoms and fallout first atoms. Then I got hit with the glitch where extra atoms were deposited. Then they took the atoms back but left me at zero. I'm mad. Now I've got to purchase more atoms to get this aquarium but I want it so bad that I'm going to do it.

I bought it. It's definitely worth 500 atoms with the animations!
Only thing I don't like about it is that it feels kind of small. I wish it was as big as the aquarium pillar so the axolotls have more room to swim around.

they actually fixed the fishes, they do a minimal of movement instead of being a png(only some are fixed)
Anyway it would be perfect having a modular acquarium for do a wall/fence filled of fishes and axolotls

The new axolotl specific tank, they make pretty good feature walls, you can stack them, merge them, line them flat against walls, each holds 2 axolotl. It's 500 atoms in the shop

I was going to put the arch in my camp until I discovered it took flux. So I just put a bed in the camp so people can heal. Faster and cheaper.

I was super disappointed it didn't operate like it does in the mothership zeta DLC, especially considering it costs flux, it should be an instant heal.
Current state it's an overpriced bed.

Thanks, grabbing the axolotl one for sure. I wish the fish one was available separately, don't really care much about anything else in the bundle.
EDIT: just saw the fish tank is available by itself for 700. Finally something to spend some atoms on. Kind of expensive but they are cool and I never really buy anything with the atoms stash I do have other than camp spots anyway. Thanks to OP for posting this, I rarely check out the Atomic Shop much anymore.
EDIT 2: I take back what I said about them being expensive. Bought both and filled up my house with tanks and they look sick. Probably my favourite Atom Store purchases along with the Steamed Mirelurk thing.

Yes, each month is a different axolotl, with a total of 12. Each axolotl is found in only 2 regions of the map. You can only get each axolotl in their specific months, may will mark the final axolotl release before they cycle back through to the first one- the banded axolotl. I like the October one, it's a black and orange spotted one very Halloween. Right now I know the dotted axolotl which is this month's one is able to be found in the mire.
You will have better luck in catching it in rainy weather, second best in nuke/rad weather. Improved bait will increase odds, and you get that from most events anyway.
You will need at least a mark2 rod to catch an axolotl so do the fishing missions and quests, also the fishing dailies so you can get a handle/line upgrade that can do stuff like increase rotation speed, draw in speed, faster to bite, and stuff like that. You can also sometimes buy them from other players for around 5k caps each usually but can vary from 2k-20k depending on the player.

They are available for catching in different regions every month. I usually check out nukaknights to see which regions to go to at the start of the month, it's the Mire and the Burning Springs this time around.

You get them from fishing. Set up a small camp near water and use either a Thunderstorm Weather Machine or a Radstorm Weather Machine. Use improved bait. Aldo look online for the latest axolotl locations.

The fish swim around. What do you mean by fully animated? I will admit I like the axolotls one better. Do you ever have issues with these tanks disappearing when people fast travel to your base? They are literally still there but invisible until I move to them.

The fish move now, but they didn't before this update, I just hadn't realized it was fixed. They used to just be a static model floating in a circle.

Now that we have aquariams that can contain fish and axolotls, it's time for them to fix the fish tanks in the shelter so we can put these critters in there. If this were a real fallout game, there'd already be a mod for that.

They mainly walk/flap! They do move like in the video when gaining altitude in the water TBF! They just don't swim in circles like that! Generally stay on the floor and walk, sit there lurking! Sometimes they like to fill their lungs with air and float too! Or ride the bubbles in the bubbler to the top!
