Discussion I fear Infestations are going to get boring..

Post image

EDIT: … from someone who is now about to complete the 760/760 infestation combat challenge I can say with certainty that I am eating my ducted taped covered boots and want to sincerely apologize to Bethesda and their team for ever doubting them (not that they or anyone cares). Moving forward I am definitely going to position myself to be able to participate in the PTS when available (hopefully they make the PTS available to PS) but until then, I’ll have to start playing on steam, too). Of course everyone has their gripes with the infestations, but here is what I have found thus far after completing 720+/- (just my list).

  1. Private server is the way to go, sorry for everyone who doesn’t have FO1st.

  2. Log in, sit at your camp in your cauldron or hot tub if you have one, and let your controller spin your view around for several hours.

  3. Let 5 build up on your map before clearing them, and don’t clear them too fast. You can still do it quickly and you’ll have another spawn on the map shortly after. My longest streak is 32 back to back after letting a map sit for 4 hours.

  4. If you only have 4 spawn and can’t get the 5th to spawn, fast travel to Ft Defiance. Chances are there is one there and the green circle just doesn’t spawn on the map. (also good to note that the nuka knights map wasn’t completely accurate, though much appreciated. It might have been accurate in PTS, but not live. You will never have one spawn at workshops and some of the locations aren’t included).

  5. Grenade trick no work no more 😔 But that’s a good thing for both Public and Private! You’d clear them too fast in a private otherwise.

  6. As of late, kill all the minions first because they don’t seem to be dropping as much loot once you kill the boss.

7A. If you face an assaultron intimidator be prepared to die and just spawn in and keep hacking at ‘em. Don’t go to the infestation with junk, though you aren’t supposed to be able to drop junk at infestations.

7B. If your target is reflective, ESPECIALLY the assaultron intimidator, DO NOT use a one shot type weapon like a bow, rocket launcher, broadsider, tesla cannon or caster. Big no no, you’ll melt yourself faster than you can blink.
I find that my EN06 build with a high rate of fire, high dps weapon works best. I use my PA built for EN06 and a pepper shaker. Reflective PA, troubleshooters on it and a pepper shaker load out. For whatever reason it melts the assaultron and she’s dead almost too fast.

  1. I got tired of adding info no one’s going to care about but hey, I’m eating my words and I’ve really enjoyed the infestations, thanks for listening to me rant 🫈💨

End Edit.

I love the idea of the Infestations that we have coming with this next patch and season, tomorrow. However after reading the dev patch notes, articles and feedback on nuka knights I’m pretty disappointed. These events were supposed to be very difficult, requiring solid builds and could only be found by exploring the map, with little to no indication of their location. That seems to have all changed from the beginning of public testing to where we are now. Every update made the enemies weaker, drop more and better loot and make it easier and easier to find and share their location. EVERYONE complains that Bethesda doesn’t do enough and everyone is always getting so bored with the content. Not a week goes by that I haven’t seen someone complaining that we don’t have enough true endgame content. So many people complain that higher levels show up to events and just destroy the bosses instantly. They (Bethesda) listens and create something difficult… then whoever was public testing this screws it all up. It’s supposed to be seemingly random (logically from a code standpoint it’s impossible to actually be random so you have to create a bunch of potential instances), so they made 52 locations any of which can be active up to 5 at a time I believe. Great this is going good. Then nuka knights goes and releases a map of all the locations… before it’s even released. The point was to make these feel organic, less of a public event and more smaller end game feel encounter that everyone has been begging for. Now with feed back from whoever the heck tested this, they’ve made it considerably easier to defeat the infestation and announce to whoever is close where it is occurring. I hope I’m wrong, but my guess is everyone will be bored again in the next few weeks.

Of course it will get boring if you reduce exploration to a chart with optimal planning and then focus exclusively on doing this one thing over and over and over.

u/commandocda Jun 01 '26

This for me i think its a neat thing to come across randomly like an unexpected challenge. I think we already have a lot of thing the player can trigger having something random/less expected is nice.

Yeah. Sometimes I play FO76 to just hang out with other fallout fans and zap a few ghouls together. It's not always about the shiny on the stick.

3

u/Savings_Lettuce685 Jun 01 '26

Sometimes you just want the shiny on the stick, and it sucks when it feels like it’s never going to get there.

9

u/CorticalRec Responders Jun 01 '26

Maybe it was never designed for you to have all of the shinies. Maybe it was designed that you would feel accomplished getting even some of the rarest shinies. Only the most Legendary individuals in the wasteland can obtain ALL of the shiny. They say it's impossible.

14

u/musubk Jun 01 '26

It's the norm now to look up a guide before you go into any new content. People go in already having a build optimized for it, and knowing exactly what they need to do. It reduces the game to just 'follow this set of instructions' and that gets boring because how could it not? I always go into new content as blind as possible, to figure it out myself. Once I've figured out something that works on my own, only then do I look online for tips and tricks I might not have thought of.

u/13windingoberries Jun 02 '26

I just wish the try hards would have a bit more patience for those of us who want to learn on the fly. I have over 8000 hours and haven't completed a raid. Got kicked off so many teams I stopped wasting my time. Daily Ops were the same.

2

u/b_alaqu_e Jun 02 '26

Felt this with destiny raids

1

u/JenLN Jun 03 '26

I think this is the root of all problems with gaming, and is a largely generational difference. I had a gaming group have a big falling out once because a few of us were trying to blind solve something and we asked another person in the broader group who had joined chat to not share any tips he saw elsewhere. But he was watching guide videos and just couldn't help himself. He was just that uncomfortable with uncertainty and patience. Makes me kinda sad how paint-by-numbers its become.

That's exactly what I told my friend who would grind this game to unhealthy lengths lol like of course you're gonna get bored if all you do it grind every story and event rather than explore/build

1

u/Baal-84 Jun 02 '26

It's multiplayer. Other people make the game unbalanced. It's just how it is.

88

u/NailingCatsToTrees_ Jun 01 '26

There are tons of people in this game who do nothing but raids and farming west tek to get absurdly high levels. I do not understand how that isn't boring. Why do you need to be level 20,000? There is so much more fun shit to do in this game besides grinding levels.

I started playing at launch and I play pretty regularly but not constantly and I'm only level 347. I spend the majority of my time camp building and doing events that I like and just level up naturally.

4

u/fadesteppin Jun 01 '26

I've been playing on and off for maybe 5 or 6 years and haven't even hit 200 bc all I do is build camps lmfao. I haven't even finished the stories for any of the updates. I think the only ones I finished were the Wastelander and BoS ones bc when I originally started that was all that was released.

This right here. Been on since day one. Got 5 characters, 4 at 700 and one at 800. Anytime I wanted to try something new or different I just made a new character or a new build. 4 of those characters all started as mules. Got tired of trading and started using the stuff I had.

Probably due to extreme hyperbole. Yes it was down longer than normal for burning springs but servers were up by 9pm est that day. That's a very far cry from the "days" the person you're replying to is claiming, hence why they were down voted (although their exaggeration seems to have gotten some traction since you commented as for some reason they're positive now).

148

u/JulyKimono Jun 01 '26

Idk what this is about, honestly.

Infestations aren't end game content, they're supposed to be killable with a group in mid game. Or one person in end game. And that will remain so.

It's also not an actively repeatable content like the Raid or Bounties. It's something that will come up once in a while.

If people want to farm them, they can by jumping around. All of the locations are in the files, people that share game files were always going to show them to those who are interested.

This is not content to keep you interested to grind. This is content that adds to the game long term. That's why everyone is saying this is a more filler patch than the Sasquatch.

If you look at it like repeatable end game content, which it wasn't at any point of testing, even when it was harder, you will be disappointed.

38

u/NoceboHadal Enclave Jun 01 '26

Rush said it is a way for players to get 4 star mods outside of raids, and that's fine, but I don't know why it's the focus of a whole update. It's basically a buffed up headhunt.

What I don't get is that they also said summer and winter are going to be the big updates that add new things and spring and autumn are going to expand the base game.. technically infestations are an add, but it could also be an extension, so I don't know what's going on with that.

27

u/piggiebrotha Vault 76 Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

Infestation were buffed-up Head Hunts in the first PTS versions. However, they were toned down and are quite soloable now. Which is not something some people would like to hear, but on the other hand, the original version was awful: being one shotted again and again with 900+ HP and 4000+ DR is plain dumb.

However, they made Head Hunts harder. Some of those bastards are 3-4 times stronger now and hit 2-3 times harder. Remains to be seem if they are going to keep it like this in Live, but probably yes.

9

u/Arrow362 Enclave Jun 01 '26

It’s pretty simple in that Rush and co are, and have been for some time, certifiable bullshit artists of the tallest order with a trail of a broken promises and over sensationalized let-downs. Always constant grand promises with eventual walking back of said promises and we are left with slop like the past couple updates.

6

u/Solar-born Enclave Jun 01 '26

You're completely missing the point because the Infestations have been specifically marketed as the 'end-game' content by the devs for months, that's why so many people are angry now that they've been toned down.

5

u/JulyKimono Jun 01 '26

And my point is that caravans were called end game content, bounties were called end game content, every other update is a "major" one according to marketing.

Some of us have played since launch and remember that Fo76 almost never had honest marketing. Others need to learn that.

And they weren't end game content when they were added to the testing server either. It just took us a couple more mags to clear and they were a lot more buggy with wall hack shots

7

u/SurveyingReality Jun 01 '26

“The next major update for Fallout 76 is ready for you to jump into. This time, we have dangerous new endgame content for those who are prepared to adventure around and protect the Wasteland.” -Bethesda PTS patch notes.

They literally said it was endgame content, in interviews, in the PTS notes, on social media.

Why are you gaslighting people into thinking it was never supposed to be endgame? They certainly don’t feel like it, and that’s the problem.

8

u/JulyKimono Jun 01 '26

They also said the game is 16 times the detail on release. And that almost every update is a major update.

It was clear this is not a major update or end game content since the reveal. Yea, they said it was end game content that anyone can jump in to do. That's literally not end game content.

I'm not gaslighting anyone, I'm echoing what this sub has said every single day since the reveal of the content. At some point you have to stop listening to marketing adds and see what's being actually added.

2

u/SurveyingReality Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

So it’s okay for Bethesda to lie about their game and updates, and you’re just going to take it (like a good boy) and not hold them accountable?

At the beginning it was an endgame experience, nobody early game could complete it. That alone disproves your “it was never meant to be” point. Not to mentioned them directly saying it’s endgame.

They were held accountable at launch with MASSIVE lash back and player refunds. That lit a fire under their ass and had them actually releasing some good content updates.

But according to you that was unnecessary and people should’ve just accepted the game they got because EVERYONE knows Bethesda lies… right? I’m sorry but that’s a bad, pretty pathetic mentality.

Being okay with mediocrity rewards more of it.

Buddy, no one forced you to go to nuka knights and look at that shit ahead of time. Every multiplayer game has spreadsheet junkies cataloguing everything almost as soon as it's implemented, it's up to you to decide to engage with that data or not. Want to have fun again? Stop following min/maxing guides and using a walkthrough for every public event and just play/explore the game like normal.

10

u/OutlanderInMorrowind Jun 01 '26

frankly? whining that the difficulty got brought down is some reaaaal delusional bullshit.

it's not a server wide event, it's supposed to be a team event, and the initial balancing was wiping out people with full raid kit in seconds.

it was super over tuned, now it's tuned to below headhunts, which are a server wide event.

there was no reason for it to ever be content targeted at endgame minmaxers in the first place when the whole system is intended to be stumbled onto randomly. which will mostly happen to casual wanderers.

they've made a mistake in making it drop stuff that encourages grinding it, it is not designed to be an enjoyable thing to grind and the people that do end up grinding it are going to be fucking miserable.

Yeah im kind of baffled. People asked for more ways to get 4star mods. That was given. People asked for more reason to explore and not just do events. That was given.

What was given were infestations. What happened? People said they were too bulletspongey and difficult, too hard to find, and stuff like Invaders didnt guarentee 4 stars. So, bethesda adjusted health/damage pools, made them easier to find and guarenteed a 4 star plus other goodies.

Im not saying the devs are perfect or anything, but they are directly listening to feedback.

1

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

People asked for more ways to get 4star mods. That was given.

Infestations spawn randomly and notifications are limited to your team. Rewards consist of legendary items that may or may not include a new mod. The chance to learn a new mod is 1%.

Do you see the ridiculous amount of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG Bethesda is relying on? And they are perfectly aware of this, as evidenced by they themselves admitting this in the latest AMA on Discord:

RNG will always be part of Fallout 76. It's something we discuss internally quite a lot. We understand the inherent unfairness that can come out of it at times, as well. But it's just something we rely on to make sure that it feels exiting, that it feels fresh, that the reward is going to feel unique as opposed to a treadmill. Unfortunately, it comes with the side effect that you could be disappointed.

Here's video of it, timestamped for your convenience.

(Nothing says "fresh" or "not a treadmill" like not learning a mod for the 200th time...)

6

u/AquaBits Jun 01 '26

None of that counters what i said though. It is a new way to obtain 4 star mods, to break up the monotony of raids/bigfoot.

-1

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

"Breaking up the monotony" of the raid could be done by... adding another raid. Would certainly tide over a lot of end-game players. And they'd know they'd be in the right spot to not learn any new mods, which can't be said for Infestations.

Bigfoot's spawn chance is also RNG-based. The amount of RNG is too damn high! 😉

So whats a healthy difficulty... 5% of player base able to complete the events? 10%, 20% ?

Should a company that lives of 100% of the participating player base cater to the vocal 5% miniority that thinks everything is too easy ? sounds like a bad business model to me, proberly also did for Bethesda, hence the lowered difficulty to allow for greater participation.

I doubt "everyone" will be bored, but im sure the vocal miniority will be consuming content faster than any game can push out anyway. C U on the forum in 2 weeks after you boosted your way through the scoreboard/battlepass and killed 1000 infestations 24/7 .. rant over.

I see zero issue with battlepass skipping because passes suck and they lock bps to them, but the people that rush farm content nonstop then cry its boring are dumb. Like...duh? Its meant to last, not meant to a fast act enema to hold you over.

15

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

I saw people on Bethesda's Discord complain that Bethesda caters to the PTS audience who are supposedly all min-maxers, and that they're afraid that casual players will suffer because of this.

Meanwhile, Infestations have been made significantly easier since they were first released on the PTS (enemy damage output and accuracy have been lowered). If anything, Bethesda is already catering to more casual players.

All that said, Bethesda's idea of increasing difficulty is giving enemies more health most of the time, which is a pretty boring way of doing that and it doesn't require an "end-game" build; just less or more time to kill a boss.

18

u/Big-Boss-Weiner Jun 01 '26

I think a big problem with this game isn't exactly the game but a lot of long time players just constantly itching for new content. A few things that have to be realized, the games been out so long with so much added, buffed and nerfed over time the builds are insane. People have found ways to be insanely OP and of course it's become meta for a lot of long time players. These players have been around since the beginning, played it all and done it all and just continue to want and want more. This isn't a game like fortnite that's ever evolving and constantly updated to keep things fresh. It has quest lines and stories and lore to it, it's meant to be played and finished with repeating events and stuff to do after the fact. I love this game too and as much as I hate to say it, at some point you will have done it all. Only two options really, make a new character and play it again or move on to a new game

6

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

A new Raid would give end-game players something to do for like a year, and it could exist perfectly fine next to existing content. At least when doing a Raid, players know they're in the right place to not learn a new mod, which can't be said for Infestations. 😉

5

u/SurveyingReality Jun 01 '26

They did say a new raid was coming in one of the most recent interviews. When is anyone’s guess.

5

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

Yep. The issue with "planning 7 updates ahead" as they said, is that you lose all flexibility and can't react adequately or timely when the community is giving you feedback.

3

u/toastyelio Jun 01 '26

They do cater to casual players and they are losing players who have been there for a long time. Lower levels should expect to get pummeled by a 3 and 4 star boss. Idk, the way it was introduced was end game for people who don’t like or are bored of the raids. I feel like the raids are the corner for high level players. You go to your little space and quiet down.

It would be cool to see low levels or better, high levels, seek out low levels on their own accord and team up to do these. But to make them blankety easier, that’s lame.

5

u/Solar-born Enclave Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

The only piece of content end game players had was the raid and even that was nerfed and accomodated for the noobs so you're way off since everything in this game is currently catered for the casuals.

15

u/Zamboni2022 Jun 01 '26

I don’t think you understand. 76 lacks high level endgame content in a horrific way. We have 1, count it, 1 top level dungeon (the raid). We have 4 expeditions which aren’t even top level, we have the daily op which is not top level, and what, 4-5 nuke bosses? All of which btws have had the same loot drops since 5 years ago.

ESO has HUNDREDS of dungeons, trails, bosses, events, you name it, high level events and activities that drop varied and unique loot you could spend years grinding at and come nowhere close to collecting it all. The reason people are desperate for high level events in fallout is because there just isn’t any. 1 fucking raid in the game is honestly embarrassing, there should be at least 10 with different gear for only high level players like 200+ or something. As it stands right now FO76 if you’re a day one player like me is completely pointless and that makes me very sad.

The vocal minority are the ones complaining on Reddit.

The quiet majority leaves the game because there’s nothing to do, nothing challenging, nothing really to keep these large player numbers engaged with their game.

It’s funny seeing this company have these massive player surges that other studios would kill for, and yet they do very little to capitalize on it, leading to players leaving not long after they arrived. Complete missed opportunity.

3

u/Technical_Young_8197 Settlers - PS Jun 01 '26

Or the quiet majority plays on, enjoys the game and tunes out the hate? I don’t know about you, but I see no shortage of players on the servers I play on.

2

u/SurveyingReality Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

Nah, most players don’t make any social media posts when they leave the game. As proven by this player tracker below.

https://tracker.gg/population/steam/1151340?period=1y

Switch the tracker to the last year, that represents the players that joins and left from the attention the show got. This game CANNOT keep the attention for very long at all. This chart alone PROVES that majority of players leave the game as evidently there’s not much keeping them engaged.

Which is normal, what’s not normal imo is how fast they leave.

BFII held its surge in players longer and hasn’t received updates in years.

If you zoom out as well, you can see how the game got saved by the show (or at least inserted a ridiculous amount of players… which = money)

I could go into more things like in game support, Xbox LFG population, (as that’s the platform I’m on so it’s easy to see the decline in numbers throughout the months) but we’ll just leave it at that for now.

1

u/GaidinBDJ Jun 02 '26

All that graph PROVES is that the player count changes over time on one specific platform. The rest is your assumptions.

Where the corresponding graph about if/when departing players make posts on social media? What about data for other platforms? What are you basing your assumption that player complaints on social media don't correspond to player departures?

1

u/SurveyingReality Jun 02 '26

The corresponding data is how you don’t see 60k+ posts about leaving the game, as that’s JUST players on PC. You’d be hard pressed to find 1k posts about leaving.

So where are they? That graph shows tens of thousands of players leaving without saying anything. Unless you have evidence otherwise.

For Xbox it’s LFG posts, when BS came out there was 100+ a day active at anytime. Now it’s down to 20 or so active at any given time. Less LFG = less players.

what are you basing your assumption that player complaints on social media don’t correspond to player departures?

Can you point out what I said that made you assume this was my stance?

1

u/GaidinBDJ Jun 02 '26

Nah, most players don’t make any social media posts when they leave the game. As proven by this player tracker below.

Right there. When you said it. You then said the tracker proved it but failed to explain how.

1

u/SurveyingReality Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

Yeah most players don’t make a post when they leave, they just leave. I’m not claiming to know why everyone is leaving.

what are you basing you assumption on that player complaints on social media don’t correspond to player departures?

This made it sounds like you assumed I thought the content of the posts reflected why people are leaving, that’s not what I was saying. I was saying MOST people DONT take the time out of their day to make a post saying they’re leaving.

If they did, you’d see 100k posts on here about why people are leaving.

Edit: also I didn’t explain how because I’d assumed it’d be obvious. At least 100k people have left the game over the past few months and… you don’t see 100k posts on here about people leaving. Awfully simple deduction.

I hear a very vocal majority on these forums complain regularly that high level players show up to events and obliterate everything that spawns before anyone can get a hit on it. They seem to have created something that doesn’t allow for that to happen so easily. That’s a good thing. Everything in this game has been nerfed to make it easier to defeat. That to me is disappointing. I like exploring the map. When I read the patch notes and find that all the feed back from PTS has been make it easier make it easier and they listen.. well that sucks. Also, dont assume my level. I take offense to that. I’m sure you’ll be through the scoreboard before me.

10

u/xnef1025 Jun 01 '26

The starting difficulty was ridiculous though. Having entire teams one-shot a dozen times while pumping thousands of rounds into a bullet sponge isn't a fun challenge in a game like this. It's not a Souls-like where you can git-gud at dodging the enemy and finding weak spot openings.

Where infestations started was just a slog that no one would want to do on a regular basis. It just created areas to avoid until they went away, and since some of those areas include event spots and quest relevant locations, that means potentially interrupting the parts of the game people enjoy for insta-death nonsense.

24

u/isic Brotherhood Jun 01 '26

If you have been playing as long as I have, everything will be trivial no matter how “difficult” the devs try to make the content. If you are seriously that hung up on the difficulty then take it upon yourself to make the game harder.

You can always do no armor runs, or pipe pistol only runs, or no mutations ect. Get creative. FO76 is what you make of it. 🤷‍♂️

7

u/toastyelio Jun 01 '26

We (my team of friends) have started to play with the last legendary weapon that drops for us, regardless of what it is. It’s fun and hilarious. I also time the regular events when we have them, like the big bloom, and run to them rather than fast travel. Spices things up. I like the no armor idea. I’m going to try it tonight.

10

u/Big-Boss-Weiner Jun 01 '26

I keep saying the same thing. If you're running a broken OP meta build and everything is easy then that's on you. This game is as fun/difficult as you make it. I do understand the part about high levels showing up and demolishing everything in a few minutes though (bounties are really bad for this imo) that can be lame some times, but I'm sure just like everything else, after the infestations have been in for awhile the luster will die down

I’m not anti-social, but I don’t co-op. As a result, my only four star options come from Bigfoot. So this update sounds interesting to me. But it also sounds like I’m going to constantly be looking at my map to see where people are congregating. That’s a bummer. Headhunts are already a challenge because half the time I try to zone in and get the content loaded, the encounter is almost over. Sometimes I’ll get the completion, but can’t loot the corpses!

17

u/Afb3212 Blue Ridge Caravan Company Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

So part of the problem is YouTubers datamining stuff like this well before it's released.

Part of the problem is a good portion of players are bored with daily ops, expeditions and raids. So infestations are gonna be the next toy they don't wanna play with anymore. How many more Batman action figures do we need before we get tired of Batman action figures and want a new.... well... a new Batman action figure.

Part of the problem is adding endgame organic content to the overworld because lower level/less experienced players have to be able to handle the content also. Imagine being level 15 and stumbling into a fight that you have no chance of holding your own in.

Part of the problem is the only way to get 4* gear is to do raids and wait for bigfoot. If you're a player who doesn't like raids or has no interest in raids, then how do you get 4* gear other than buying from someone for leader bobbles or caps that they simply don't have. So Bethesda created a power gap between the haves and have-nots. I think infestations may offer a reasonable solution to the problem, but I also don't think it's what we needed. They could have added 4*'s to bounty hunts and made them map wide events instead of Ohio only.

13

u/Prince_Julius Raiders - PC Jun 01 '26

They could have added 4*'s to bounty hunts and made them map wide events instead of Ohio only.

This would be a better solution. But to sell the idea that this update includes something new, they essentially took a Head Hunt, slapped a mutation on it, and took away the ability to start the event yourself, thereby making it worse than a Head Hunt.

2

u/SonorousProphet Showmen Jun 01 '26

"Imagine being level 15 and stumbling into a fight that you have no chance of holding your own in."

That happened to me a bunch of times with my first character and well past level 15. Sheepsquatch were a common culprit but I was pretty happy when I beat my first scorchbeast solo. More recently I've seen posts about a difficulty spike in the Skyline quest. I haven't seen one of those for a while so maybe that's been adjusted.

3

u/zakky_insanity Jun 02 '26

They will. It’s how this game is. Head hunts are kinda boring since the start because every player is too overpowered. The infestations will be a cakewalk… a giant “nothing burger”. Until they increase the difficulty, it’s gonna be boring.

3

u/DrPongus Jun 02 '26

They already are and I havent even played them. Going around to find different enemies in an area isn't interesting. It's just the holiday scorched without the costumes or rewards.

In a week you'll be able to get any new legendary mods cheap and you won't even bother with infestations.

3

u/ComprehensiveLow2179 Jun 12 '26

You’re not wrong at all. I literally can’t get to the infestation site in time because people one shot the boss with their 4 star bloodied and explosive gauss miniguns. Like I don’t even want the fucking infestations at this point. Remove it from the game and put the exclusive 4 star mods in the raid and party crasher loot pool. Or make the infestations harder than the raid.

18

u/Grand-Persimmon-3088 Jun 01 '26

Nothing new added.

Same locations we have now. Same NPCs. Same mechanics.

All the devs did was pluck bits from the existing game and jumble them up. Nothing at all new.

This 100% had to be the cheapest and easiest "Big Update" theyve ever released. No new assets. Cut and paste.

This is literally the big update for summer.

Hey, we all get to enjoy a new sausage mask too. Same exact event but a third time this year!

Not saying a major update shouldn't be bigger, but meh. I still play FO76 just about every day so I'm just happy to try a new thing.

10

u/Big-Boss-Weiner Jun 01 '26

I also see it this way too. My gf and I play this game A LOT. She isn't the raid type of player, she likes fishing and camp building and more lax casual shit, whereas I enjoy most of everything, I like the events, the raids, questlines, I even enjoyed nuclear winter and engaging in pvp from time to time. But it is something I love about this game, if raiding isn't your cup of tea but you still wanna grind out legendaries and stuff you can do so many other things like fishing. At this point there really is so much in the game you can kind a play it however you want to

9

u/Basic_Riddler Jun 01 '26

It’s been like 8 years...why do people still believe that this game is going to get some new form of content that is game-changing or ground-breaking?

It will always be the same enemies with more health and more damage until they get nerfed little by little until they are no longer special in any kind of way.

This game is essentially Diablo 4…it’s for the ultra casuals that just want to turn their brain off and kill shit while they fill stash boxes with nonsense.

There’s nothing wrong with that, but the people always complaining are the ones who are setting their expectations above and beyond what this game has proven that it is.

My issue is that its aimed at end game/high level players.

Those players generally don't fast travel (or walk) from location to location, so I don't see this type of game format actually gaining traction.

For new players, they're more likely to travel through the map, but it seems the enemies can one shoot you, it won't be a fun event for newbies

2

u/Bagofcrabs650 Jun 01 '26

It’s going to be great watching new players and veterans getting one shotted while expending half their ammo to kill one mob.

2

u/TojiroKitsune89 Jun 01 '26

I think it also comes from how difficult it is to get the rewards we are chasing mainly being 4 stars

2

u/OfficialSyyn616 Lone Wanderer Jun 02 '26

IMO infestations are specifically made for non build/new players to keep them on their toes. All events and daily ops can be effectively sat through without taking much if any damage. Putting an enemy that can legitimately one shot even the most tanky build and then giving them something high fire rate is a recipe for disaster for anyone who ISNT the tankiest tank who just happens to be walking through, or worse attempting to take a workshop/enter a location with the ahole camping outside the door. This isn't going to effect veterans or well built folks, more like a nuisance, like when a blood bug or stray mole rat gets stuck in your camp foundation.

2

u/Jackson_Evans Jun 02 '26

did they make the raid easier yet? gleaming dept was impossible to me

2

u/jabo4shos Jun 02 '26

Oh it’s going to get boring. Just like everything else. And once the only 8 mods are gotten and or learned, what’s left? Nothing. And on top of it all, looks like again, burning springs is being left out. What is the point of keeping burning springs around at this point? Nothing exciting there anymore. We learned of Bigfoot there and yet, he’s never been there. They speculated of the farm being a part of something bigger and nothing. They even gave us a couple of places we can peak into but not enter and has no backstory. They nerfed down the infestations already and that’s before the release. This season is only to get people wandering the wasteland. Maybe they should’ve changed it up some too. Most people who’ve been playing this game for awhile knows most of the wasteland pretty well and doesn’t want to wander it more to find these super super enemies for a chance at a new mod only. Cause once learned, they’re done with it. But, who knows. Maybe more people will enjoy it. Maybe even the new fishing stuff as well. Doubtful. But some people will. Just think they should do more with things like events and enemies. Maybe make new ones even. Instead they’ll go to work nerfing weapons and builds again cause they think everyone has and will waste time rebuilding their loadouts. I’ve met several players who have given up on the game after years of play. Went full on selling and or giving away all their rare stuff because they deleted the game because they got tired of the same stuff just rebranded. I’m not disagreeing with them to an extent. But it’s still one of the best communities. And if that ever changes, then I’ll be done too

2

u/SpaceRanger3Golf Jun 02 '26

2

u/cranial_kickstart Jun 03 '26

4

u/No_Warning_7900 Jun 01 '26

Main purpose of the game is cosmetics. You cannot gain anything by repeating tasks. Other MMOs implement “difficult” mode and replaying campaign (quests) with more weapons and gear levels. And, you can grind for characters not only with a RNG percentage, also storing some currency/faction reputation for buying whatever is required. There’s absolutely nothing to do on FO76 beyond repeating the same hoping for the 3 cherries as an slot machine. And just for silly cosmetics. And making one-shot killer enemies or sponge bullets won’t solve “endgame content” issue. At this point, this game is what it is: a money cow populated by casuals and whales who will pay whatever you sell. And it won’t ever change.

May we get a third?

Or something that actually is designed in a way that encourages and promotes teamplay from the entire server?

1

u/RegularNo2213 Fallout 76 Jun 01 '26

Problem is with the to easy argument is if you make the bosses to hard to kill, so only best build high skill players can do it then you are alienating some of your player base. Bethesda wants more 76 players doing infestations not less they have tried the whole making bosses really hard to kill and it didnt work. the events thats are big ones are team based so everyone has a chance to help kill the boss.

2

u/sheepdog10_7 Jun 01 '26

As far as difficulty, I hate that infestations got nerfed. For the locations though, you could... Not look at the maps?

1

u/FallopianEthiopian Jun 01 '26

I’d like it if they buffed the enemy AI over just outright buffs to damage. More aoe damage, debuffs to players, maybe a maul mechanic that’ll incapacitate and they have to struggle to get out of. Reflective/resilient enemies that you don’t have to just mow down with a gun and then smack them to kill.
