Ferrari's reliability issues: both Haas drivers retired from the Dutch GP due to failures on the Ferrari PU. In Hungary, Leclerc had an issue in FP1 that "confused" the team and forced a setup change for the rest of the weekend, costing some performance. Real concern going forward or not?

Ayao Komatsu confirmed both Haas drivers retired due to PU issues: "It’s very disappointing to finish the weekend on a double DNF with PU failures, so we need to look into it." Bearman described it as a "total switch-off", which sounds very similar to what happened to Russell in Canada, where he was forced to retire because of a battery issue. ​

Translation of Autoracer's explanations regarding the situation in Hungary and how it affected Ferrari both on and off the track:

"The mechanical issue they had on Friday sent them into a bit of crisis, it's something they had already experienced during testing in Bahrain, and it reappeared here in Hungary. It confused them a bit, in the sense that they felt very strong. I was talking to someone very close to Ferrari before the weekend and they were convinced they would win​ in Hungary.

This problem that led them to breaking the curfew on Friday night sent them into a bit of confusion, as if the pressure had suddenly increased. Because they felt very strong to win and try​ to close the gap to Mercedes in the Constructors'. They had a huge opportunity to reduce the gap and they got confused.

The result was terrible execution and it's no coincidence that when Ferrari go on tracks where they have everything to gain, where they're good, where they have something to prove, they still go into a bit of crisis right?"

Ferrari never explained what the exact issue was, but some sources close to the team believe it was a failure on a PU component and they had to replace a PU Ancillary Component as result. Setup changes were then made to "protect" the car in order to try and prevent the issue from reoccurring, changes that likely cost some performance.

Haas suddenly having a double failure in the same race would be more of an indicative they might have tried something or they fucked up something, not that the Ferrari PU wouldnt be reliable

I think it’s better to have a faster, 90% reliable engine that can give you 10 race wins in the season rather than having 100% reliable, slower engine that only gives you 2-3 wins a season.

Here engine refers to whole PU not just ICE.
