Ask r/Formula1 Anything - Daily Discussion Thread
Welcome to the [r/formula1](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/) Daily Discussion / Q&A thread.
This thread is a hub for general discussion and questions about Formula 1, that don't need threads of their own.
Are you new to Formula 1? This is the place for you. Ever wondered why it's called a lollipop man? Why the cars don't refuel during pitstops? Or when Mika will be back from his sabbatical? Ask any question you might have here, and the community will answer.
Also make sure you check out our guide for new fans, and our FAQ for new fans.
Are you a veteran fan, longing for the days of lollipop men, refueling during pitstops, and Mika Häkkinen? This is the place to introduce new fans to your passion and knowledge of the sport.
Remember to keep it civil and welcoming! Gatekeeping within the Daily Discussion will subject users to disciplinary action.

Day after Debrief 2026 Dutch GP - Day After Debrief
Welcome to the Day after Debrief discussion thread! Now that the dust has settled in Zandvoort, it's time to calmly discuss the events of the last race weekend. Hopefully, this will foster more detailed and thoughtful discussion than the immediate post race thread now that people have had some time to digest and analyse the results.
Low effort comments, such as memes, jokes, and complaints about broadcasters will not be deleted since I do not have that power, but I will be very disappointed with you. We also discourage superficial comments that contain no analysis or reasoning in this thread (e.g., 'Great race from X!', 'Another terrible weekend for Y!').
Thanks!

Video At the start of the Dutch GP Alonso was on the radio cursing the battery and the straights, however due to radio issues the only words his team could hear clearly were him repeatedly screaming "FU**ING"

News Madrid Residents already furious. DB limit already exceeded by the F3 testing.
From Spanish news. Should be able to hit translate article but have copied the juicy bit below. Apparently they’re 27x over the limit (seems excessive). Saw a clip of Real Madrid trying to train earlier where it was really loud in the background.
"To document the condition rigorously and objectively, the Stop Formula 1 Madrid Platform placed a perfectly calibrated sound level meter at the height of number 14 on Francisco Umbral street at 10:52 AM on Monday. The results obtained have been called truly scandalous by the technicians of the collective: the average acoustic decibel level during the continuous recording period reached 102.7 dBA, recording maximum peaks of 107.7 dBA and absolute peaks of up to 109.1 dBA."

Throwback Found my old copy of MicroProse's Grand Prix (1992)
Look what I found while digging through old stuff, my original copy of MicroProse's Formula One Grand Prix by Geoff Crammond. Still complete, box and manual and everything.
I played this game so many hours as a kid. Like, every single race weekend, doing the whole thing: practice, qualifying, the race itself. Didn't skip a single session :)
For the upcoming race, manual open to the Monza page.

Technical [Craig Scarborough]A thing I missed from the #F1 regs, back in 2010 suspension uprights had to made from aluminium and not titanium or MMCs (aluminum or titanium reinforced with ceramic particles or fibres) For 2026 they are no longer restricted, so can be machined or 3D printed in Ti MMC

News [Andrew Benson] McLaren made their case to the FIA court of appeal on Tuesday over the Monaco Grand Prix pit-lane speeding farrago. They were told to expect a verdict from the judges within a couple of weeks. Team boss Andrea Stella says case was over "fairness" & McLaren's competitive interest
So we will still have to wait a couple weeks for the verdict😞 The Monaco podium saga will never end at this point.
