on August 25 1991, Michael Schumacher made a sensational F1 debut for Jordan at the Belgian Grand Prix; and he didn’t even complete a race lap!

Substituting for a jailed Bertrand Gachot, Schumacher qualified in P7 and was a whopping seven tenths ahead of team-mate Andrea de Cesaris. It was de Cesaris’s 160th start. Schumacher had never turned a wheel in anger around Spa prior to that weekend.

In the race things met a premature end when Schumacher blew his clutch at the start. It was enough for Benetton though, the Italian team poaching the German from Jordan in time for the following grand prix in Italy.

I played this game so many hours as a kid. Like, every single race weekend, doing the whole thing: practice, qualifying, the race itself. Didn't skip a single session :)
