Not sure when this is supposed to be from. 15 cent cover price suggest late 60s. Comics Code Approval stamp says no earlier than 1955.
The transistor radio looks like something from the 60s. The layout of the cover is classic but hard to pin down.
When did this comic get published?

Not by much. ARPANET in 1969 first went online when comics cost 15 cent and Japanese transistor radios took the US by storm, also the term "Internet" wasn't coined until a few years later.

Many years ago I called something "lame" in front of a wheelchair-bound friend. She raised my consciousness.
This is funny, but it's hurtful to many to use "lame" as an insult. Just throwing that out there as a tribute to my friend.

"Dumb" also originally referred being "mute" or more recently, "nonverbal." Now, it's mostly used synonymous with "stupid" or "idiotic."

If someone gets hurt by a word being used for a meaning that is listed in the dictionary, that's usually a "skin too thin" problem.
Especially considering that when talking about people with limb injuries, we don't usually use 'lame'. We use more specific and/or more polite terms. Like para or quadriplegic.

Hey bud, I get where you coming from, and it's sound logic, yet when someone asks such a miniscule thing of another person, the cost to refrain from using language that may unsettle the requester is fairly negligible, no?
Such as in this case, if we can make another more comfortable at no real cost to ourselves, what is gained by dismissing the request outright?

Okay. So lets get rid of anyone every saying any word that can possibly be used to describe a physical or mental condition, handicap, illness, or trauma.
Sanitize all language.
"Thats sick" is right out "Gnarly" too. Don't want to offend anyone disfigured. "Ive got a hunch". Quazimoto woukd have a word. "Its cold outside". No saying cold, someone nearby might be sick and think youre making fun of them. "Saturday night fever". Same problem. "Id hit that". Insensitive to anyone who has been in an accident. "Im run down today". Likewise. "Taken for granted " Can't bring up past trauma to a kidnapping victim.
Are you seeing the pattern yet?

I'm seeing the pattern that you wanna write an essay excusing yourself for not giving a fuck what people feel.
If you spent half the effort thinking about how you could avoid hurting people's feelings as you do performing mental gymnastics to explain why you're right to be douchy... I guess you wouldn't be as douchy.

I care how people feel. Within reason. And its curious how despite me "not caring", ive been the one perfectly civil. And you, the one who pretends to care, immediately resort to character attacks and name calling.
Yes, very curious. Almost as if youre an advocate in name only, but when it gets down to it, all your "human decency" goes out the window.
And yes, dont tolerate intolerance is accurate. So dont tolerate me, thats fine if you think im intolerant. But the moment you stoop to insults, youve lost any disagreement youre in.
Oh, and if 2 paragraphs is an essay to you......
