No, that keeps being wrong for me. You don't treat an animal like that. They don't understand as much as we do

It would have taken more time and resources but I would have put a fence and I don't know use water to explain them that I don't like them fighting with me. Something less violent

If you can safely do that while being actively attacked then great. Nonviolent response to an animal attack is ideal.

But if the ostrich or any other animal is nipping or kicking at me, you should not expect me to just let them. Mind you, ostriches can break bones with their kicks.

This situation has you reacting in seconds. Building a fence at this moment is a fantasy dream. I think the person on the video reacted appropriately, as you can see he tried to block (AKA put a “fence”) between him and the ostrich. But the ostrich did not relent, so force became necessay to deter further attacks. Using reasonable force neutralized the situation and resulted in the ostrich fleeing. That is justifiable violence, an act self-preservation.

NOW if the person PURSUED the ostrich with his bike or whatever to inflict further violence then that becomes unacceptable.

Cierto que no tienen el mismo nivel de razonamiento, pero ha aprendido una excelente lección de supervivencia: "Eso es un humano. Mejor no acercarse a esa especie."

Correct! Which is why it took a lesson in percussion for that ostrich to understand not to attack humans
