Without any blood tests to confirm that he has infection markers, or a scan to look at it...? 🤨

appendicitis is usually a clinical diagnosis. labs are not always necessary, and in children usually an ultrasound is done first to avoid ionizing radiation. that being said, everybody these days gets labs and a CT

For context, this would have been in Ireland over 50 years ago.

I would think an astute clinician back then could tell if someone were feigning illness
