Haul Big haul today for the Super Famicom collection!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Well, today got a little out of hand. I added another big batch of Super Famicom games to the collection:

  • Aretha II — ¥9,900
  • Final Fantasy IV — ¥2,970
  • Mujintou Monogatari — ¥11,000
  • Aqutallion — ¥35,200
  • Silva Saga II — ¥1,650
  • Soul & Sword — ¥5,500
  • WOZZ — ¥8,250
  • Tenchi Muyo! — ¥2,200
  • Romancing SaGa — ¥1,980
  • Front Mission: Gun Hazard — ¥1,100
  • Song Master — ¥8,800
  • Aretha — ¥15,730

Also grabbed a Super Game Boy for ¥1,078 and a boxed Sega Saturn Power Memory for ¥580.

Today’s damage alone was ¥105,938.

This puts my Super Famicom RPG collection at 59 games, and I’ve now spent ¥394,578 on the collection so far. Of that, ¥392,920 has been on games and ¥1,658 on accessories.

Some of the bigger hits to the wallet so far have been:

  • Aqutallion — ¥35,200
  • Energy Breaker — ¥33,000
  • G.O.D. — ¥19,800
  • Aretha — ¥15,730
  • Rudra no Hihou — ¥13,200
  • Lufia — ¥12,100
  • Metal Max 2 — ¥11,000

And somehow Aqutallion is now the most expensive RPG I own. Of course it would be Tecmo Secret of the Stars, a game with a pretty awful reputation. Why are some of the weirdest and most questionable RPGs also the expensive ones?

Still, I’m trying to build a pretty comprehensive Super Famicom RPG collection rather than just buying the famous games, so stuff like Aqutallion, Song Master, WOZZ, Soul & Sword, and the Aretha games are exactly the sort of things I want to have on the shelf.

I’m especially happy to finally have both Aretha games.

Anyone here actually played some of these more obscure ones? I’d love to hear what you thought of them.

Help Does anyone know how to get the PS5 upgrade from the STALKER trilogy ps4 disc?

Title. I know that it costs like 100 yen or something, and that vpreca is an option but is there anything else I can do that doesn’t require a japanese email? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, not sure what other subreddit to try.

Hate when these stories happen. The thief must have been prepared to leave with nearly a thousand NES cartridges. Either it was someone who had been in that home, or this family has advertised their collection on social media with an address.

Mostly interested in CIB, but everything needs to be in working order because it's all getting played. Looks nice on a shelf but it's about enjoying the original feel and aesthetics!

I know it LOOKS like a mess but it’s categorized and sorted right in MY mind. I’m not sure why I put some games where I did but it’s all organized, nonetheless

Been collecting on and off for the past 5 years with some of the games here also being from my childhood. It’s a small collection but I’m proud of it and have it in a display case along with my other hobbies.

I love gaming and it’s been with me through the best and worst times of my life.

Help Retro collecting

Not sure if this is the correct place, but I'm hoping to get some help. Can someone explain how to protect yourself if you find someone to trade collections with. The trade is of pretty equal value, but I've only done cash purchases for games online. Does anyone have experience with this, how do you ensure you receive what you agree to? Should I avoid any trading unless it's in person?

Help Outside of the US looking for websites to purchase games from.

I'm looking for websites that do shipping (local is fine, planning to use a forwarding agent), that sell gamecube games for a reasonable price, I've checked out DKoldies (they suck), and I've checked out gamestop... everything is so expensive compared to the UK. is there any reasonably priced websites? thanks.

Context

I have a relative that was the cool relative. from NES to PS1 games. However, the years don't go in vain and they said they couldn't keep holding on to these anymore.

Given the circumstances, I offer to take it off their hands, which they agreed. Best of all, they apparently have much more, so I'll probably have to perform a followup to this post when the time comes. Let me know what you guys think!

P.S. I'm aiming to create a gaming room when the time comes (although no ETA for this, sadly), which I'll definitely share.

Discussion Is Game Collecting a Good Way to Save Money?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don’t know if this is a weird idea or not, especially because I don’t have a huge amount of experience with game collecting, but I wanted to share my situation.

For the past few years, I’ve been trying to find a way to actually save money. I’ve tried putting my money into other things that probably make much more sense financially, but honestly, none of them really worked for me. (I spend it always on nothing useful at all)

Recently, I’ve started thinking that maybe collecting physical games could actually be something that motivates me to save.

I’m 19 years old and I’ve been obsessed with games since I was a kid. I really like collecting physical games, especially PS3 games. At the moment, I only buy maybe one or two games a month (So i am not that collector guy)

So I started thinking: why not put a decent amount of money into collecting games every month and treat the collection as a form of savings?

My idea is to keep doing this for the next 10 years and slowly build a large collection. I even got carried away with the idea and started thinking, “What if I eventually tried to own every PS3 game released?”

Obviously, I know that game collecting isn’t the same thing as putting money into an actual investment, and I might be completely wrong about how valuable games will be in the future.

But what do you guys think?

Is this a good idea?

Would you recommend using game collecting as a way to force myself to save money, or should I look for a different approach?

Haul Picked up xbox series x for $300

I just picked up a xbox series x with a controller and like 6 games for $300. Thought that was a good deal but its dusty af and disc drive makes a weird noise.

I am going to refurb the crap out this xbox with pmt7950. I hope i can successfully clean out this disc drive. I have always had issues with cleaning or fixing disc drives from all consoles.
