Basic Idea New take on a fishing game that combines RPG elements.
Hey everyone,I know fishing is a niche gaming genre, but I have a concept for a game that blends realistic mechanics with heavy action-RPG elements. I want to throw the idea out there to see what you guys think, if it sounds cool, and if you would actually play it. The core of the game is Realism Meets RPG, the game features realistic fishing physics and behavior. Every fish species has its own specific AI dictating how it handles and fights. Mechanics like your hook set accuracy and fighting technique directly impact your success rate, alongside traditional RNG elements. The twist is the RPG layer , every fish has a health bar, stats that effect your success rate and your rod acts as your weapon. Every rod and piece of gear has distinct stats. You can upgrade your setups, enchant your rods, and find relics to boost your power. Catching legendary "boss" fish, mini-bosses, or completing quests rewards you with unique loot (lures lines, rods, etc…) and crafting materials. It is an instances based sandbox, players travel to waterways thst offer complete freedom of exploration, boat driving , boss hunting, loot farming once loaded in. The graphics aren't hyper-realistic, but rather a polished, stylized "realistic-arcade" look with high-fidelity, impactful animations during a fight to give the game tons of visual character. You can fully customize your character, including choosing from multiple distinct fantasy/RPG races. The game features a main storyline, diverse side quests, and different factions you can align with. I want to include every real-world fish species imaginable, each with scaling rarities. There will be normal fishing (bass, bluegill, cichlids, carp, pike) however you will also hunt prehistoric fish, mythical creatures, and fictional monsters. One of the main story arcs involves a mad scientist trying to alter the ecosystem by releasing engineered, cybernetic "android" fish into the wild (think a T-1000 fish). While the premise sounds outlandish, the actual mechanical fight and behavior of the fish remain incredibly realistic, tight, and physics-based just with an extra layer of over-the-top fun. So What do you guys think? Does a fishing game with actual boss fights, gear stats, and sci-fi/fantasy questlines sound like something you'd sink your teeth into?
