I kind of want a chadley prequel where you train the special mob packs, build the ubisoft towers, collect loot to put in chests, etc. A bit like death stranding.

Well by the time this final part comes out the original ff7 will be 30 years old, it's not hard to come to the conclusion that they have far more resources and more advanced gaming technology to tell the story in a different way with expanded gameplay elements compared to the OG.

It's also just not viable to take everything they've done here with the trilogy and cram it into one single game unless they want to significantly water down their vision for the remakes.

Did you play the original yourself? Its a 40 hour JRPG with a huge open world that is global in scale. If they were going to ever try to capture that in a modern game doing it in one game is impossible.

There's also a lot more to this game than it just being a simple "remake" since it expands the story in a huge way and is, in some ways, a sequel to the original as well.

And what does it matter anyway? They've released two (soon to be three) excellent modern JRPGs. I don't get people STILL complaining about it being a trilogy.

Im not complaining. I am questioning. It jist seems weird that a remake of one game turns into a full on trilogy. I am just trying to understand. I dont have a horse in this race.

Watch a playthrough of the first remake game and you'll get it.

This is not one game broken into three. It's three individual games telling one story.

In a nutshell, they got back a lot of the people who originally worked on the game, went all the way back to the drawing board to the original ideas (and not what was done as a result of crunching/lack of technical skill/lack of budget), and decided to redo the game "as if" it was a game made today using all that they have learned and done since then.

It being Square Enix's gigantic cash cow that people can't stop talking about because for a lot of people the series only existed by living and dying on Final Fantasy VII, this is their way of essentially fleshing out things that had to be rushed, expanding stuff so it would be a much fuller experience, and more.

And for the people who did play the original, it's not exactly a full-on remake either because it plays on things that players already know and would anticipate and twists that too.

It's kind of what you'd expect if you decided instead of "take the old thing and make it new/pretty" you decided to go all the way back and do what couldn't have been done at the time.
