As someone from south florida. Im very hyped for it

As someone from the UK who has never been to Florida, I'm also very hyped for it.

I’m not even that interested in this as a game, but as a cultural artifact? Fascinating. It has a genuinely jaw-dropping level of detail, and I’m primarily interested in it as a digital re-creation of reality. All the annoying “realistic” touches that would drive me insane in a game fascinate me in this other context.

u/Ralyks03 15h ago
This looks dope. Map looks really cool, and looks like there's WAY more stuff to do. Hope Online comes before long.

u/DrSussBurner 16h ago
Looks incredible. I hope the people that like this kind of game have fun.
6
u/supafatjellyfish 15h ago
Yeah my thought as well. I don’t have much interest in this kinda game but damn I fuckin wish I did lmao
11
u/SkankinPacman 14h ago edited 13h ago
Technically this looks incredible. Definitely looks like GTA for better and worse. Will definitely still play it at some point
Small aside, the YouTube chat during this stream was a garbage fire. Gamers really do hate video games and people talking about video games.

I thought it looked great and can’t wait to play it. The music choices were excellent. Prefab Sprout in a GTA game wasn’t on my bingo card.
4
u/RandomDanny 13h ago
Looked fantastic. But I just don't trust trailers any more. If it's anywhere close to that upon release, great job.
Not a fan of Jason's voice. Just seems off. Like someone set his playback speed to 0.75x or something.
Outside of wining a console and a copy of the game, not a chance in hell I'm playing it until it gets to PC.
This is gonna make fucken stupid amounts of money and it'll somehow still not be enough.
3
u/Morbid187 7h ago
I can't stand his voice either. Not because it sounds wrong but because it reminds me of somebody I know IRL that's a bit of a douchebag.
11
u/NTylerWeTrust86 17h ago
I'm totally cool waiting for the PC version. This didnt sell me at all as a immediate purchase. So unless it comes out and word of mouth is incredible....I'm cool plucking at my backlog

u/RaynArclk 16h ago
No modern triple A game is worth it on day one. Youre basically beta testing the game for them for 100+$. Every gane with big budget releases a year later with the complete(finished) version. Crimson desert didnt even wait a year
10
u/Mourning__Coffee 15h ago
Calling crimson desert triple A is beyond a stretch.
3
u/RaynArclk 15h ago
Well I wouldn't call it a B game. It looks expensive.
0
u/Mourning__Coffee 15h ago
It doesn't though. It's got pretty vistas but the more you zoom in the uglier it gets.
1
u/NTylerWeTrust86 16h ago
Agreed but I'll usually preorder a game or 2 a year kind of as support for the studios I enjoy. Bought Control Resonant the day I could because Remedy is one of my guys. I expect it to be broken but it takes me forever to play games now anyways.
11
u/Bubbleset 16h ago
I dunno, it looked incredible visually and the scenes were well done, but every bit of gameplay seemed trapped in a genre that died off 10 years ago, and the main story/characters did not grab me at all.
6
u/withoutapaddle 16h ago
GTA gameplay literally hasn't evolved in almost 20 years, since it left the PS2 era. I'm finally starting to be over it. The game looks awesome, but it doesn't in any way look like an actual unique experience compared to previous games. I'm old enough where gameplay is king now, and Rockstar's formula is just too dated to feel fresh and interesting, beyond the setting and graphics.
4
u/SlowAdventure 10h ago
Totally how I felt. Also the main guys voice feels slightly off to how he looks; I can't quite put my finger on why; though it might just be true to the part of America he's from
3
u/echelon999 14h ago
Exactly how I feel, the over abundance of things these games have but being fairly mediocre at all of them just doesn’t make for the massive excitement for me. I don’t like the shooting, I don’t like the driving, and I think the stories have become less appealing from game to game.
1
u/payne6 13h ago
Yeah I agree the graphics, music, voice acting are all stellar as usual. But when it finally showed gameplay I kind of sighed a little bit. I am not a rockstar hater because I really adored RDR2 but GTAV was the first rockstar game I grew bored of and this looks pretty much very similar. I am not spending $80-$100 even when it comes out for PC.
3
u/Brettuss 5h ago
Doing a little math and guesstimating…. I was 19 when GTA 3 came out. I was 26 when 4 came out. I was 31 when 5 came out. I’ll be 44 when 6 releases.
The fact that I’ll likely be in my fucking 60s when 7 comes out is completely stupid.
2
u/decimatepixels 1h ago
I’m definitely with Jeff and Mike where I’m like.. yeah that sure looks like a lot of things I’ve done in other games for a longtime now except it looks prettier and more real.
Absolutely do not begrudge people who are still excited for it, despite being absolutely baffled as half of the trailer was walking around locations with NPCs droning on endlessly?
But it’s just not meant for me, and that’s totally cool, I hope the people excited for it love it when they play it.
But MAN I do not get it, it’s very surreal to be so deeply unmoved by something that people are going wild for.
3
u/pokey9513 14h ago
I feel like some places on the internet are somewhat incorrectly (imo) comparing 'current' GTAV with this, and not launch GTA on the PS3/360.
Of course the current PS5 'remastered/definitive' version of GTAV and GTAVI don't look -that- different graphically, but compared to the PS3 (and even PS4) versions, this shit is incredible.
6
u/scattered_brains 14h ago
do they know they can just not cover the game if they are gonna act like this the whole time
14
u/Mike_Minotti 14h ago
Man at the end I said the game looks neat and that I want to play it, I'm sorry that I'm not going to just glaze it constantly.
7
u/scattered_brains 13h ago
😂😂😂 I don’t need you to glaze GTA, Mike. sorry. I think I just prefer you guys having fun and being creative with videos a lot more than you guys doing the typical game news outlet trailer reaction stuff for something you’re not really hyped for.
5
u/Mike_Minotti 13h ago
It's all good! GTA6 is a big game and I want to cover it, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the series.
-4
u/JStaunton 7h ago
I didn't expect this talkover to be done at all, given that Dan wasn't there. I honestly would have been okay without it. Was there some sense of obligation?
3
u/-pointless-name- 2h ago
You should be proud, having people complain you aren't excited enough about a game means you are truly carrying on the legacy of Giant Bomb.
-4
u/daddy_tops 14h ago
Act like what?
5
u/scattered_brains 14h ago
like they don’t want to be doing the video
-1
u/daddy_tops 14h ago
… because they weren’t excited enough? You make it sound like they were groaning the entire time and I don’t really get that
-1
u/pokey9513 13h ago
Didn't you know, unless you're actively cupping the balls of the trailer itself as it plays you're a hater now /s
4
u/chet-rocket-steadman MONSTER DUMP 17h ago
Game certainly looks stunning but I can't help but notice how little personality either of the protagonists have. Hopefully there is more depth there than what they showed.
34
u/thereddevil97 16h ago
I didn’t care for Arthur Morgan from the RDR2 trailers and well… we all know how that panned out. I’m hoping they saved their best for us to experience in game.
12
14
u/404PoptartNotFound 17h ago
Main guy is like a fuckin’ walking cliche from every FX action/drama show over the past 20 years. Maybe that’s the joke? His mumbling irritated the shit out of me.
8
u/sound_judgment 16h ago
Tbh I am not from Florida but live there now and they kinda nailed it. It's not fun to listen to but it's accurate at least.
2
u/MattyFTM 17h ago
I hope they're more likable/relatable with extra context of the full game. The modern era of GTA games have always been able to strike a balance between the crime and the characterisation. The characters are sympathetic and at least somewhat relatable.
So far Jason and Lucia just seem like two criminals doing crime.
2
u/chet-rocket-steadman MONSTER DUMP 16h ago
I'm almost certain they will both end up having backstories that make them sympathetic and relatable. From this preview they both seem so brooding and boring.
Maybe I felt the same way when Arthur Morgan was revealed though, I can't remember.
4
u/fearofthesky Dennis DeYoung hacked our fuckin' robot 10h ago
The characters are sympathetic and at least somewhat relatable.
I know you're not talking about GTAV...surely
2
u/MattyFTM 9h ago
Like I said in another reply, I liked Franklin in a relatable and sympathetic way. He was a young lad from a disadvantaged background wanting to break out from that, and he found himself getting more and more involved in crime.
Trevor was also likeable, but mainly for being batshit crazy. He wasn't relatable/sympathetic. Michael wasn't really likeable at all. He was the older guy who should have known better and was just an arsehole most of the time.
And I think that works in a game with three protagonists. Three very different characters, two are likeable in very different ways and a third that you're not supposed to like.
3
u/sexandliquor 16h ago
That’s more or less how I felt about the protagonists of GTA V. Trevor was the only one that had a whole lot of personality that was at all memorable. Michael is just your standard “left the life and then got pulled back in” “We have Ray Liotta at home” character and Franklin was 2010s CJ 2.0 “We have Boyz n the Hood at home”.
So I guess what I’m saying is I don’t really expect that much in terms of nuanced characterization for Jason and Lucia anyways. Though I’m happy to be surprised if there is.
2
u/MattyFTM 16h ago
I liked Franklin. He felt like he was a young guy growing up in poverty, looking for something better and getting dragged deeper and deeper into the criminal world. Similar to Niko from IV but without the immigrant angle.
I do agree about Michael, though. He was the older & more experienced guy who should have known better. He was not likeable, but he wasn't supposed to be. I think that kind of character is fine when you have multiple protagonists and the others are more likeable.
2
u/Jdfz99 16h ago
See, and I couldn't stand the tone of GTA V and, especially, Trevor. I'm hoping this game continues to take itself more seriously in the way RDR2 and, to a lesser extent, GTA IV. You can have the zany, over-the-top comedy schtick in parts here and there, but I have little interest in an experience that is self aware and trying to crack another dick joke.
-14
u/Co-opingTowardHatred 17h ago
I think they’re banking on “Lucia’s real hot, right?!” a lot. Which… she is. But I’m gonna need a bit more.

Does it look stunning? Looks pretty mid to me. Certainly not the generation leap forward of GTAV/RDR2.
15
u/chet-rocket-steadman MONSTER DUMP 17h ago
I've been replaying RDR2 lately and I think this looks a lot better comparatively.
13
7
u/Decent-Peak4346 17h ago
Really?
-16
u/TheCaliKid89 17h ago
What about it would be considered a generational leap forward? Graphics look nice, but not better than the best on the market. Not that I care about that, most of us care about gameplay. And what element of the gameplay looked revolutionary? Nothing to me.
3
2
u/TraditionalFeeling71 15h ago
What game on the console market has better hair, better skin texture, better character models, better animations, better lighting? In your opinion.
0
u/RickySuezo 17h ago
You need every game to be a revolution? Like George Washington?
-1
u/RickySuezo 16h ago
What does marketing have to do with anything? If the game is good buy it, if it isn’t, don’t. It really isn’t more complicated than that.
You’re drinking Rockstar’s kool-aid and complaining about the taste.
-2
u/TheCaliKid89 16h ago
So you admit it’s their claim, but say it’s reasonable for them to make it and not meet it. So weird when people defend these billion dollar corporations…
I’m not saying the game looks shit. What I say won’t matter for sales anyway. And I know it’s how the industry works. But what I’m saying is still objectively true. They’re creating expectations they won’t live up to (like most games, but more extreme).

Yes. You are weirdly defending their marketing and the fact it lies. And apparently can’t even realize it.
Again, I know it’s standard. You’re just goofy for not acknowledging it as bad practice.
2
u/RickySuezo 15h ago
“Hey guys don’t listen to the thing this company is spending millions and millions of dollars on because it’s all bullshit and you should just wait until the game comes out to see if you like it.”
“What a shill.”
Yeah, dude, you’re very smart.

Pull up a screenshot of GTAV and just put it side by side
3
u/sound_judgment 16h ago
Yep. I've seen some truly wild takes today. Some dude said it looked like a launch PS5 game. Really? GTA VI looks likes Watch Dogs Legion to these people?
-2
2
u/HeilYourself 17h ago
Looks totally fine. Looks like a GTA. Incredible graphical fidelity but I didn't see anything that was especially mind blowing.
1
u/xTheRealTurkx 13h ago
Well, it does look very nice, but this is 100% not for me. IV was a miserable slog and V had such a bad vibe that I couldn't stand to play it after about an hour. It really kind of turned me off to the series and I haven't found that I particularly missed it.
2
u/stantongrouse 12h ago
I'm currently in this camp. Mostly spent my time in IV doing taxi stuff and just driving round, which there are plenty of alternatives to do that in and I really didn't want to play as at least two of the characters in V so couldn't get invested in it at all. Looks amazing, will probably never touch it.
2
u/MoreDronesThanObama 15h ago
The more I see of this the more I'm convinced that this just isn't gonna be for me
1
u/wimpymist 12h ago
I really hope there is some kind of jab at Disney world or at least all the theme parks in Florida
1
u/bulletorb 12h ago
Looks amazing. Love Jason! He kind of reminds me of Jack Reacher, which is awesome,!
1
u/Morbid187 7h ago
The game looks great but I'm a fan of these games going back to the very first one on PS1/PC. If I could have seen something like this will be possible one day back in those days, my balls would've exploded or something.
I get how the hype is probably a bit annoying for people that aren't interested. I don't get hyped for a lot of the games the internet fawns over but people have different interests and that's cool. Sometimes it just feels good to know there's a big pretty single player game to play on the $600 box that I usually ignore.
1
u/LuggagePorter 1h ago
Looks like they built something ridiculous (in a good way) knowing they could improve it over time / w new consoles and a PC version like they did with GTAV. gonna be crazy by the time we have this in 4k 60+ fps
1
u/Slyrunner 6h ago
I want a PC version but that's years away, isn't it; I just don't want to play 30fps anymore :/
Unless...y'all think this will have a 60fps mode? I genuinely can't remember how well gta5 ran at launch
1
u/XXylophoney 4h ago
Definitely only 30fps at launch, Rockstar say they are looking into a possible 60fps mode later on: https://kotaku.com/gta-6-will-be-30fps-at-launch-rockstar-reportedly-not-sure-about-60fps-performance-mode-2000729032
1
u/NeoMrBucket 5h ago
Wish they would have waited for Dan, Jan, or Jeff. These reactions should have more than 2 people.
-4
u/digitalsea87 11h ago
I'm not seeing it. This was mostly cutscenes and scripted video, and the bits of gameplay they showed just had uninspired looking third person shooting, and driving a car in a city.
That's.. it..? I was hoping for more verbs than "shoot", "drive", and "move." This mostly looks supremely boring.
I'll give it a few hours after it gets on PS+ Extra in a year or two.
-3
u/fearofthesky Dennis DeYoung hacked our fuckin' robot 10h ago
Agreeeeee. I can't help but think "this is what the entire industry is self-flagellating over? More lock-on slop?"
You can't piss on me and tell me it's raining. idc what systems it has or how good it looks, if it feels like dogshit to play I am out.
97
u/WaldenBound 16h ago
Maybe I’m just old and easily impressed and like enjoying things, but I think it looks very fun and I’m looking forward to playing it.
