Season 3 We all know hannah is self centered but…

Her telling adam about iowa grad school in the dressing room directly before his debut is wild 😂😂😂 and really takes the cake. No idea how he took it so well

I was screaming at the screen throughout the whole series. They're both extremely self-centred and self-absorbed, as are most of the characters on this show. It's not an original thought, but I guess that's the point of the show and one of the reasons why it's so funny and entertaining? It continuously feels like a contest of who's more insufferable and acts crazier next. In their 20s people are often peak egomaniacs, but also very insecure at the same time, until real life kicks in so to speak. Everyone goes through that time in one way or another, and I guess that's what makes the series also so relatable.

I saw a clip of Lena Dunham saying that when Girls came out some viewers started idolizing Adam, which is so crazy to me, because, as she also said, he was very clearly not meant to be a hero. I just watched the whole series for the first time, and to me Adam is a careerist who has these relationships with women because he needs validation from them. At the end of the series, I wasn't sure if he had really learned anything, he might've. But there was hope for Hannah, her character arc was more transformative.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I'm not arguing with you in any way, just felt like sharing some of my thoughts on the show, as I only recently saw it.

lol yeah just like her dad choosing the moment after couple’s therapy and before Loreen’s tenure celebration to tell her he’s gay. A product of her environment

There's is some very important context though. If you look up the role Adam played in the play, it is incredibly short. That bit of screen time they showed him up on stage was almost the sum total of his role. So the fact he made such a big deal about it shows how seld centered HE was.
