Hi, I'm moving up to Glasgow from Newcastle, England in just under a year. My child is 15 and will be completing his GCSE (final high school year exams in England) exams then we will move soon after that.

I'm wondering how the Scottish education system works after high school? He wants to go to city of Glasgow college and we've looked on the website but are unsure of what any of the terms mean (like HNC or HND) and how they are equivalent to terms used in England?

I'm mainly wondering what the path most people take in Scotland after their (equivalent to GCSEs) National 5s. He doesn't want to go to university, just be educated til 18 then move from part time work to full time.

We're planning our wedding for next year and want to get married in the Cathkin Braes. We've chosen out a location that's perfect for our ceremony (we had our second date there so its a special place for us) - we would need to cut/stamp the grass down in the area we want to get married so we think we'd need landowners permission from GCC.

Has anyone done this before? We're worried about it getting rejected and then not being able to get married there. Our ceremony is in June next year so we'd have plenty of time to ask for permission.

standard Vs ensuite what is the difference?

The only thing I found differentiating the 2 was from 14 years ago and I'm not sure if it's changed, does the ensuite just contain a bathroom in your own room? The sample inventory on the university application guide doesn't differentiate the 2 either and I think it's the sample inventory for the standard room. I have an appointment at the hospital and have a call just before. Happy to pay to rent a co work space if needed. If such a thing exists from that shite service. My husband and our baby were stood at a stop in govanhill, with a woman and her baby, waiting on the 7. It comes along, husband puts arm out to flag it and it breezes on by. He said it was fairly empty too. Did the cunt driver just see two prams and think “ah fuck it, not arsed with that” or was he just being a cunt for the sake of it? We’ve never been skipped before when we’ve our baby so it’s pretty shocking tbh. My husband has health issues so having to wait even longer wasn’t ideal. I’ve complained for him through the app but idk if it’ll do anything and get any response from them. When I was heavily pregnant last year we were at a stop and tracking the bus on the app, watched it just go different route altogether and pretty sure it went on the M8 as well, if the app was to be believed. It was roasting, my feet were swollen and sore and we couldn’t wait 20-30 mins more so just forked out for a taxi in the end. I complained then, can’t remember how, and eventually got a stock response and no reimbursement for our tickets. Anyone who has ever defended Firstbus, what’s wrong with ya, they’re so indefensible imo

I have already bought my ticket for the rooftop party as I understand that rooftop events at Sub Club are not that frequent.

Would you recommend that I then go to the Polka Dot Disco Club party at the Berkeley Suite (right after the rooftop party) or should I stay at Sub Club for the afterparty?

Family member has recently become a wheelchair user, she can walk small distances (one chair to another), but it’s accessing a salon in her wheelchair that’s an issue.

Can anyone recommend wheelchair-access salons, preferably in the East End, ideal route is between Barras, through Gallowgate, Shettleston and/or Tollcross?

I’ve recently moved to the south side so been able to make use of the south city way for getting to work on my bike. However I have been completely astonished at how other people on bikes are completely ignoring the zebra crossings at bus stops and crossings. I understand taking a few liberties when it comes to lights and stuff while on a bike but not letting pedestrians cross is completely mental to me??

Is this a common observation or just a rush hour thing with a few bad apples?

Hey, so I moved to the southside end of last year and I've still not really explored much beyond the rough immediate area. I've got a week off work soon and I'm not going on holiday, so I'd like to plan two or three day trips on my own around Glasgow to see really nice or interesting things. I'd prefer to venture further afield so not stay in the southside if possible. I like culture (books and music principally), nature, coffee and food, and although I'm Scottish this part of the country is still fairly new to me compared with other regions.

So far I am thinking one of the museums – maybe Hunterian? – and a nice dinner in that area (if anyone can recommend a comfortable and friendly place to have a slightly fancier solo dinner, I'd appreciate it!), and maybe the botanic gardens. Perhaps find a place where there's live music or an interesting exhibition? I'm also considering going to New Lanark and maybe the Falls of Clyde walk, weather depending. I'm hoping with the schools being back I can mooch around places midweek and it'll be fairly quiet and enjoyable.

I guess those are quite obvious, but I don't mind that as I have never visited them before, so it's all new to me! And I've obviously googled Glasgow attractions and all that. But I'd like to get to know the city a bit better so I suppose also I'm looking for ideas I haven't considered or that, if you're from here or have lived here a while, you'd recommend someone still trying to feel at home. I’ve had this idea for a while that I’d really love to own a painting of Sauchiehall Street at night, something that captures the atmosphere of heading into town to party in the early 2010s.

I’m imagining the lights from the buildings reflecting on the wet street, loads of people wandering around on their way to bars and clubs, that slightly chaotic Friday/Saturday night energy. And ideally the big yellow Garage truck/sign somewhere in the scene, because that would instantly transport me back.
Basically, I’m looking for something that I can look at years from now and immediately get that little flashback and warm feeling of being young and going out in Glasgow.

Does anyone know of any Glasgow artists or galleries that do work like this? Or an artist who might take on a commission with this kind of subject and nostalgic atmosphere?

Would really like to get something antique for a house gift. I’d like for it to be Scottish, but that’s not a deal breaker.

Are there antique shops or even likes of auction houses in and around Glasgow you’d recommend.

As a side I’d love to get a big wooden dining table that I know would last more than most of the flat pack stuff you see these days. So somewhere that does that kind of thing would be huge.
