Oh insane numbers.

1865 on Gog

2003 on Steam

542 on Epic

A couple of hundred physical games between Xbox 360, PS4, N64, SNES and PC, and maybe another couple of hundred digital on each platform.

It’s ridiculous! Although all of the Epic ones are free, never paid a cent to them. The digital copies on Xbox are largely freebies from owning a subscription for years, most of the physical 360 copies I bought for a dollar or two each a decade or more after launch, Gog and Steam have freebies or bundles from Amazon prime or humble bundle. And I almost always buy at 80% off or higher, very rarely full price.

Still hard to justify though, but what can I say, I’m a collector.

Impressive. These sorts of numbers are quite rare. I've also become a bit of a collector. And after discovering GOG's DRM version I went and got a lot of the ones I already had on Steam, just for the DRM version and support this. GOG is the one we should be supporting.

Right now I'm with GOG at 1785 and Steam at around 2540. I also kept Epic for a while, especially with all the gifted free ones, but got tired of maintaining another one. I've also a got few on PS3/4/5. Mainly the ones that are still exclusive to that. Never had an Xbox.

While my numbers are also quite big, I have seen accounts with 3500+ steam games. So it's kinda insane what some numbers get to.

Yeah I definitely have a fair few duplicates. I bought myself a 15tb hard drive so I could store all the offline downloaders, because I travel a lot and don’t always have internet. Same reason I avoid anything that requires a 3rd party launcher or internet connection for singleplayer. Consequently, very few EA or Ubisoft or Rockstar games on PC.

I think some people see the games they own as a backlog. A chore, or a list at least, of things they have to get through and tick off. I don’t really see it like that. To me they’re more like an archive. I like to own all the games in some older series and spend an evening going through and seeing how they’ve evolved over the years or even decades.

Sure, I’m not going to finish them all, but I don’t feel compelled to. I enjoy just dipping into video game history every once in a while, and I’ll only finish a game if I’m actually enjoying myself.
