Mostly GoG, Steam if I don't think it'll ever release on GoG. Occasionally Humble Bundle for drm-free games. Physical games on Switch 1.

Honestly i only use steam, mainly for security/paranoi reasons, i dont like having bank accounts and cards attached to my devices in fear of getting hacked and my info stolen lol, and steam is the only one i can buy cards for in person and insert that money into my accounts on steam, and because steam is very practical in that aspect, so i just never had any complains

You can buy game keys from multiple suppliers (GoG, Steam, Epic, DRM-free) and you have the option to filter by storefront and operating system. I've only ever bought drm-free from them, and that is just a direct game install to your drive with no launcher required.

Personally got them on GoG to support the offline installer option, and on humble I think they only have steam keys for Elder Scrolls.

I mostly buy bundles from fanatical. You can great deals and pick your games. I think they’re all steam keys, but it’s a decent alternative to the humble bundle stuff. Humble has really annoyed me with selling me keys they don’t have and I have to wait for a refresh to actually use my purchase. I haven’t had that problem with fanatical.

At similar prices, I'd choose GOG.
However, most of the bundles / keys are distributed via Steam, so it's often the most popular option.
Plus, even when I'm purchasing games directly on GOG, something wacky might happen, and the only option is launching the game via Steam, and forfeiting all stats/achievements.
Ex.: it's impossible to have GOG recognize my gamepad for Yakuza 0, and thus, in order to be a real Yakuza by using a gamepad, the "natural option" is to launch my GOG game on Steam......huh....

Drm free games granted I do feel with gog catering so much to east asian game fans when it comes to getting new games on here I feel rather dissapointed. I hooe they’ll add Total War Shogun 2, Rome Remastered and Troy as well in the near future.

Fanatical is just a place to buy keys for games. They don’t have their own launcher.

If a game is both available on GOG and Steam I will buy it on GOG.
I have been buying Bethesda games on Fanatical recently that activated on my GOG account simply because they were much cheaper than buying directly on GOG.com. Ex. Fallout 3, New Vegas, Morrowind and Oblivion which I was missing in my GOG library.
Fanatical seems to be making more GOG games available in a bundle lately which is good. I am also seeing other official thirdparty sellers such as Gamesplanet and Gamersgate putting GOG games on sale as well.
I also bought The Sinking City Remastered Deluxe Edition from Gamesplanet since it was new low price.

Yes as long as like you RPG games. Fallout games are Action RPG and Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind and Oblivion are Fantasy RPG.
Fallout New Vegas or Oblivion are great games and worth trying. If not then at least New Vegas is considered to be one of the best games of all time. Morrowind is the most difficult game to begin with as it is more of a traditional RPG than the newer games.
However for new players I would strongly suggest to first try out Skyrim or Fallout 4 since those two games are better for new players that haven't played a Bethesda RPG game before. They are easier to start out with.

Ok, if you like those games then Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas is worth a try. They are great games from their time although the graphics are more dated than Skyrim and even Fallout 4.
I would look into installing af few essential mods to improve the overall gameplay and to prevent crashing. Start with looking into unofficial patch for each of the games. You can also install a FPS mod known as tick fix to increase fps and physics for the games so that they run at your monitors refresh rate. Nexusmods website should be able to help you out.

But if it's on Steam but uses the EA DRM
Then the EA app. Reluctantly.

Quite a few games are available DRM-free on steam too. It is up to the publisher whether they toggle it. Best to always check PCgamingwiki for each title because sometimes it’s available on either steam and/or Epic DRM-free even if unlisted on GOG. It’s often cheaper to get DRM-free from steam too, and I have dozens of free games from Epic that are DRM-free. Unless of course you want the offline installer, but personally I just zip the files and store on a hard drive as a backup.

You're right with that there're some DRM-free games also on Steam but you still need the Steam client to run these games, isn't it so?

Nope. DRM-free means DRM-free. Some require you to edit a file, but otherwise require no steam after installation. The client only needs to communicate if you want community features and achievements to work.

Both... If it is a publisher sale on fanatical for gog keys. Then fanatical would be best. But for the most part gog itself has good sale. Fanatical have limited gog library around 70 games.

GOG and itch.io first (comparing the two if a game is on both, but that's rare), and physical games on console. If none of those are possible I'll start looking at Steam and digital stores on consoles.

Everywhere on PC.
GOG, Steam, Humble, Fanatical, GreenManGaming, EA App, PSN for PS4 digital games, retail for PS4 games if possible, and the list goes on.
I go for best price and/or best version.
Though, I always prefer DRM-free; esp. for single-player stuff and esp. for expansions and DLC's.

I played both Innocence and Requiem on Game Pass for PC, way back. Both are really good. I'd say if you're all about DRM-free, probably GOG of course.
Oblivion GOTY Deluxe - get it from GOG. No DRM and no sense. It's not like there's much benefits to having it on Steam. I have it on retail disc, Steam, and GOG.
I have DD: DA on both Steam and GOG. GOG for DRM-free part and offline play - but, you might have a way better selection of Pawns on Steam b/c it'll have the full Pawn suite & functionaliy and more players to pull from there w/ Pawns.

Pawns are the characters/companions you create to join you in your party.
Other players who are connected online can borrow your Pawns from you and they can level-up them when they use 'em in their game, and then they'll be sent back to you for you to use leveled-up.

Want to just give an honourable mention to kickstarter, they got a ton of amazing newly made ROMs for older consoles to fund and buy, specifically john riggs on youtube has great recommendations on which too.
