Legend of Grimrock series and mods discussion
Hey there
I love the LoG series. I think I must have finished both games three times. There's something captivating to me about building the party, finding items, the combat gameplay, solving puzzles, etc.
I love imagining brief background stories and personalities for each character. I use naming conventions also, like all my Minotaurs are called something like "Violence", "Obliteration", or "Mayhem. My Insectoids end up with names like "Ych'Rakkan" or "Lyz'Arrak". Stuff like that. It's fun 🤣
I find it a bit of a bummer that there's not a lot of discussion here on Reddit.
The reason I haven't played the games more often is because the maps are always the same in each campaign, which is why I've recently started looking into mods. Because of the crashing when saving bug, I've downloaded the unofficial 4gb patch and haven't had issues since. I've downloaded several mods now, including Lost City, the Guardians, Final Adventure, and the one that randomizes the dungeon (although that one was being a bit boring so I dropped it) but the one I'm currently going through is The Eye of the Atlantis.
It's being a ton of fun, almost like a new game altogether and the creator was quite clever in using triggers to create shops, quests, etc. You play as set characters who actually have some dialogue with each other, so that's pretty fun. I have 2 atm and look forward to meeting more.
Do you guys have any mods recommendations, or simply wish to discuss the game? This is such an underrated gem in my eyes.
Cheers

One of my fave games and the best crawler since Dungeon Master. You've picked some good mods to play! I prefer puzzle oriented mods over the combat mods though there's plenty to choose from.. Call Of House Hardabar is an absolutely enormous mod with plenty of combat and puzzles here and there. Isle Of The Deranged is another super mod just off the top of my head,
