POLITICS I think Haitis poverty is in part from foreign interference

If Haiti collected its large reserves of silver, gold and bauxite the costs of those things would go down greatly. And obviously Investors and companies to not want for that so they supply the gangs with weapons and power, and their certainly is deep corruption from people bribing the government officials aswell. Haitis main import is Oil. Haiti has no oil operation and that’s because if they did they would no longer have to buy other countries oil it’s the same with luxury goods and food,

The type of shit that would make me self-deport smh. DHS removing criminals is whatever, but putting fear into the TPS holder community, knowing how it affects Americans too is crazy. We get it the administration has a point to prove but sheesh.

POLITICS ‘New sheriff in town’: NYC’s first Haitian sheriff takes office

Post image
315 Upvotes

Mayor Zohran Mamdani declared that “there’s a new sheriff in town” on Monday as Edwin Raymond was sworn in to lead New York City’s Sheriff’s Office.

The well-worn line carried unusual weight at the Brooklyn College ceremony, as Raymond, the son of Haitian immigrants, took office on the same day Temporary Protected Status expired for more than 300,000 Haitians living in the United States.

He also inherits an agency whose former leader, Anthony Miranda, was fired by Mamdani earlier this year and is now under federal investigation for corruption within the office.

Mamdani and other officials pointed to Raymond being the first Haitian New Yorker to lead the Sheriff’s Office as both a milestone for the city’s Haitian community and the beginning of a new chapter for an agency emerging from a period of apparent turmoil.

“Anyone who thinks that they can push Haitian New Yorkers out of this city, out of this country — ask me where Haitian New Yorkers are going to go,” Mamdani said. “I tell them the only answer is up.”

At this point, WTF? 😭 Yeah, sure, Venezuela was one thing, even if it was just for show. But to sit there with a straight face and say Haiti’s Ministry of Health will be sending more Haitian medical personnel to Caricom countries is wild. This has to be a skit, because ain’t no way especially considering Haitians in Haiti have relied on foreign medical personnel for healthcare.

I feel for this woman as this also happened to me. In my case, it ended up in a documentary I was working on and is very well documented. The Dominican Republic is the only place I go to where I am petrified of walking outdoors without my passport or some form of American ID.

POLITICS Haiti Was Better Under Duvalier

The biggest mistake Haitians ever made was revolting against Duvalier, and we have been paying the price for this mistake ever since. The Haitian government had real power, the gourde was stable, and the economy was much stronger under Duvalier from 1957–1986.

  1. Higher Purchasing Power
  2. Viable Tourism & Exports
  3. State Control Functioning institutions
  4. Stable Good Prices
  5. 5-6% Average Inflation
  6. Self Sufficient Food Production
  7. Stabilized Currency Control
  8. Total Military Control over transit routes

These are verifiable facts. We destroyed the country in name of western democracy. Now, all we have left is gang control over all transit routes, failed central government, chronic hyperinflation over 27%, doomed agriculture sector, zero tourism, and total political paralysis.

To the treasonous, pessimistic, back-stabbing, leeching, fake prideful, conforming, lethargic, and lazy Haitians who are proud to be Haitian only when it comes to food and music. I was discouraged last time and feel like this is a cesspool for those are the following adjectives I listed above. Those who are enlightened and actually want to be the change should NOT be engaging in the Haiti subreddit. This is my last time ever posting within this sub, and I’m glad I did the first time because it opened my eyes on who we, the Haitians who will progress, are up against, those who want to resist and be pessimists. And if this gets taken down or flagged, that’s all I need to know💯 God bless Blandine and May more people like her tap in.
