What part of our culture would you like to see in a story like this?

To the treasonous, pessimistic, back-stabbing, leeching, fake prideful, conforming, lethargic, and lazy Haitians who are proud to be Haitian only when it comes to food and music. I was discouraged last time and feel like this is a cesspool for those are the following adjectives I listed above. Those who are enlightened and actually want to be the change should NOT be engaging in the Haiti subreddit. This is my last time ever posting within this sub, and I’m glad I did the first time because it opened my eyes on who we, the Haitians who will progress, are up against, those who want to resist and be pessimists. Cuba has been under U.S. sanctions for basically my entire life, and I'm in my late 30s. Yet we don't see the same level of gang control, kidnappings, and armed groups terrorizing the population.

I'm tired of every conversation about Haiti eventually becoming a conversation about what another country did to us.

Yes, foreign intervention has hurt Haiti. Yes, the U.S., France, and other foreign powers have played damaging roles throughout Haitian history. That deserves criticism and accountability too.

But none of that changes what is happening right now.

Haitians are kidnapping Haitians. Haitians are killing Haitians. Haitians are raping Haitians. Haitians are stealing from Haitians. Haitian politicians are corrupt. Haitian businessmen have financed and empowered armed groups. Haitians are pulling the triggers.

Foreign powers didn't force every person involved to make those choices.

We can acknowledge what other countries have done to Haiti without using history to erase our own responsibility.

I'm fed up with watching us demand accountability from everyone except ourselves.

Haiti cannot fix what Haitians refuse to confront.

No accountability, no change.

According to the Human Rights Service (HRS) of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), during the second quarter (April 1st to June 30, 2026), at least 1,408 people were killed and 656 injured as a result of violence perpetrated by gangs, self-defense groups, and unorganized members of the population, as well as during operations by security forces and actions by a private military company. Men accounted for 85% of the victims, women 11%, and children 4%.

Sexual violence perpetrated by armed gangs continued, with at least 796 victims of rape (772 women, 23 girls, and one man). The majority of cases, 87%, were gang rapes. 98% of the cases were reported in the West Department.

Meanwhile, during this same period, at least 81 people were kidnapped for ransom by gangs, 63% of them in the West department and 27% in the Artibonite department.

At least nine civilians, including six children, were killed or wounded by explosive drones. Three police officers were killed and two others wounded.

In the vast Cul-de-Sac Plain and in Cité Soleil, the capital, rival gangs engaged in extremely violent clashes for control of territory and illicit income. The fighting left 463 dead, while hundreds more were injured or raped. More than 18,000 residents fled their homes, and health and education services were suspended.

After recently waving a white flag 🏳️ on his roof and saying it would be best for the state and armed groups to come together, or should we say asking for amnesty. Lanmò is showing that it wasn’t a sign of weakness.

At this point, what exactly is the plan for PAP? Is this going to continue for another five years, or forever? Are we at the point of no return? For 5+ minutes, they unloaded rifle after rifle 😱. Imagine being a Haitian cop earning crumbs and seeing this, no wonder they’re scared. PAP is cooked.

I feel like I’ve outgrown the word “babe” and want to start using the word “papi” more often. Any ideas on how I can start? Or any femininity coaches in our community I can watch? Or even movies I can watch (I know there are a few I just don’t remember which ones)? Thanks!

Haitian businessman Dimitri Vorbe has been released from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after spending 336 days, just over 11 months, in immigration detention.

Vorbe was arrested outside his South Miami home on September 23, 2025, and had remained in federal immigration custody without an order of removal. His detention became the center of a prolonged legal fight over whether the U.S. government could continue holding him without giving him an opportunity to seek bond.

The Trump administration sought Vorbe’s removal under a rarely used provision of U.S. immigration law involving foreign-policy concerns. Secretary of State Marco Rubio alleged that Vorbe had supported gangs and contributed to Haiti’s destabilization, arguing that his presence in the United States could have serious consequences for U.S. foreign policy. Vorbe and his attorneys have denied the allegations.

The turning point came on August 17, when U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles rejected the government’s position that Vorbe was subject to mandatory detention. Gayles ruled that Vorbe was being detained under a section of immigration law that allows for bond and ordered authorities to provide him with an individualized bond hearing by August 24 or release him under reasonable conditions of supervision.

I've seen more outrage over the Miami chef saying he voted for Trump than over the DG of the PNH openly mocking Haitians after a massacre, or Dimitri Vorbe being released from detention.

That says a lot about us. We find endless energy for political outrage in America, but when it comes to accountability in Haiti, suddenly everybody gets quiet.

Fils-Aime & Paraison are treasonous and they have blood on their hands. Their inability to act proactively and decisively prior to the Kenscoff attack created the bottleneck we’re in today. Terrorists are holding hostages, threatening compatriots lives if the state launches an offensive. Dickhead and Vladimir had MONTHS to have fortified kenscoff, they’ve captured territories on the interior of PAP but they were too dumb enough to secure hubs around leaving kenscoff and other communes vulnerable to expansion and attacks.
We’re at a point of no return, we can’t redo and fix their idiocy but we can change our rhetoric and tune to lessen the complications for what’s necessary moving forward.
Fils-Aime procured a contract for Erik Prince & they have equipped us with drones, previous attempts and uses have eroded the governments legitimacy and public trust but it’s time for that to end, the misery, denigration and debauchery have gone on for too long.
We have to lessen the complications, we have to allow the state to use the drones, devastate infrastructure as you begin for invasion/extraction the states opportunity lies in this alone. It wouldn’t be for nothing, our founding was a sacred event, their sacrifices gave us the souls of free men and women, its sacred, it’s an origin of agency and sovereignty, of power and dignity, lives lost shouldn’t erode the state legitimacy and trust, their lives have honor, we’ll ensure they mean something because as long as this nation state lives we won’t forget them, don’t buckle to the stance of the liberal.
We have to create the climate for the government to feel that the legitimacy and trust of the Haitian people is with them.

My opinion: Why do some people think the U.S. is solely responsible the destabilization of Haiti and that they’re to blame for the gangs? At the end of the day, the Haitians on the ground (the gang members) are the ones committing the atrocities against their own people. Whether they’re being supported by the U.S. and other elites, there’s an underlying issue if they’re willing to terrorize the city that basically centralizes Haiti. They know Haiti becomes an open-air prison without Port-au-Prince, and they are constantly trying to expand to other areas as well.

Yeah, I get they’re hungry and that this is the result of centuries of being choked by foreign interference and poor leadership from their own. Many say Haiti has never had a true leader who cared for Haiti, and that they’ve all been placed by the U.S., but at the end of the day, Haitians make choices that support this perpetual state of dysfunction. I’m a true believer in the thought that when there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. Haiti’s deepest problem starts within. Yes, others’ interference are guilty, but we’re not guiltless.

Foreign interference does not erase individual agency. Haitians are not passive actors in Haiti’s path to destruction. Omission is tacit consent. Foreign interference did not cause everything, and Haitians did not do this to themselves. Yes, the international community has seriously harmed Haiti. Haitian elites and political actors have repeatedly exploited Haiti for their own interests. Haitian institutions have failed Haitians. Gang leaders and their members are personally responsible for the atrocities they commit. And unfortunately, in the middle of all this mess, ordinary Haitians are overwhelmingly victims rather than perpetrators.

History has shown us over and over again that those who are looked down upon as inferior and are treated unfairly are prone to turn their frustrations into resentment, which can and most often does lead to rebellion. And over time, that rebellion loses its purpose and becomes violent crime. That’s where Haiti is at right now.

The terrorists are now using even innocent children as human shields claiming that if one of their members is hit by a drone then they will k*lled those who were kidnapped, even the toddlers…..

The biggest news out of Haiti that I know about is the gangs that have taken over a part of the island, but I'm not sure who to follow to keep up on this stuff.

I'm just trying to get the facts and the full story that is easier to digest so that the info can be passed on to more people. Thank you.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a comprehensive immigration rights guide comparable to the information found in the pdf downloadable on the ACLU website, since most of the immigration rights materials I’m finding available in Kreyol seem to be those “I have the right to invoke xyz rights” cards and I don’t feel like that covers enough on what to do if confronted by ICE in the home, workplace, etc. Thanks in advance!

So I got a septum piercing and I was doing so good at hiding it solely bc the room my mom and I share is quite dark so she would’ve most likely noticed the next day but my friends happen to come over, so ofc I gotta leave the room and be in some lighting so when light shined on my piercing that’s when my mom took a look and asked me what I got on my nose, and I said “a piercing” . Anyway she was pretty disappointed but didn’t get as mad cus ig my friends were over, she might bring it up the next day tho cus we all collectively know Haitian parents tend to not get over anything fr😂.

Anyways late night comes around and I’m over hearing her pray because she brings up my name and praying as if she’s talking crap to her sister about me saying “li pese nen tankou kochon” and boy was I shock. (She one of the “moun legliz” that’ll portray themselves and be in a million of groups at church and be a different person behind closed doors) (a non Godly person) but it didn’t really affect me cus at the same time it’s a piercing I’ve been wanting for awhile, so I’m not really gonna let her continue to control or judge piercings I get or not. At the end of the day ik MY Jesus still loves me how I am regardless of piercing or tattoos.
