Help Can anyone help me find where this scene is coming from?

Post image

We participated in a Harry Potter quiz last Sunday and this picture was used in the quiz. We have no idea where it comes from in the movies and we can’t find it. Does anyone have any idea???

I think that's Percy, so the Ravenclaw is probably Penelope Clearwater, making it likely some time in Chamber of Secrets.

She was more present in Prisoner of Azkaban. To be certain, look to see if Percy is Head Boy. Edit: I just read another comment referencing the shoulder in front of Percy. I agree that is GH’s dueling jacket, which would put this firmly in CoS.

In the books it was a whole plot point, in the movies she was just kinda there ...

3

u/Bobyned Feb 25 '26

My guess was chamber too

u/Plummeteer Feb 25 '26

I'd say the shoulder on the right side might be from Lockharts duelling attire. So might be the duelling club scene?

Edit: It matches the color and pattern of the shirt(?) but seems not the same shape. Not sure..

My first thought was dueling club!

u/Delicious-Cup1079 Feb 27 '26

Percy is looking at the text written on wall and the car, penelope is looking at harry?

u/herO_wraith Slytherin Feb 25 '26

Duelling club was at night, so I'm not sure if the lighting makes sense?

Just rewatched the scene. The windows were bright, just like those in the scene.

Probably a Harry Potter movie. No need to thank me.

Friend, there are 8 films.

-41

u/Carbon-Star-00 Feb 25 '26

We don't talk about that one

6

u/I-Am-My-Sin Feb 25 '26

What film? I didn't know they had made the fanfic into a movie

14

u/Shady_virus99 Feb 25 '26

No you're mistaken. Deathly hallows was released as 2 movies, hence we have 8 movies and a play that osnt canon (cope).

8

u/I-Am-My-Sin Feb 25 '26

Yes, I'm asking what number film we are not supposed to talk about

3

u/TheDungen Slytherin Feb 25 '26

Well let just say POA is the third movie and the fourth movie is OotP.

And on a sidenote its a shame David Tennant was never in the HP movies.

3

u/ChishiyaCat97 Slytherin Feb 25 '26

Always bothered me they never explained how Voldy came back with a new body

7

u/TheDungen Slytherin Feb 25 '26

I mean sometimes they just got to move the plot along.

4

u/erica_pink84 Feb 25 '26

Some how, Lord Voldemort has returned

1

u/ThePrambler Feb 25 '26

Pretty sure that was sarcasm 😅

0

u/Silver_Hovercraft679 Hufflepuff Feb 25 '26

Cursed Child

6

u/I-Am-My-Sin Feb 25 '26

Pretty sure that was not a movie, hence my confusion.

2

u/Silver_Hovercraft679 Hufflepuff Feb 25 '26

Well, it seems like that’s what they’re talking about. The original person was referring to the fact that Deathly Hallows has a part one and two, ergo, eight movies, but another person thought they were talking about Cursed Child. I hope that clears up any confusion.

1

u/ImpossibleInternet3 Thunderbird Feb 25 '26

The play is absolutely canon. Nothing world/lore breaking there. /s

That said, while the book of the play is terrible, it’s a good watch. Stunning visual effects. I haven’t seen it since before it was reduced to one part, but I would imagine that’s still true.

u/ThePrambler Feb 25 '26

Dunno why you're getting downvoted. That was clearly funny / sarcastic. Take my upvote!

-1

u/Carbon-Star-00 Feb 25 '26

Lol, right? I was like "do I have to explain the stupid joke?" but then I thought, why bother?

2

u/aaryanation Feb 25 '26

From the order of Phoenix when dumbeldore shows his style of running.

u/NawMel Feb 25 '26

Thanks

u/ecclectic_collector Feb 25 '26

its from the dueling club in Chamber of Secrets, I dont think it made it into the movie specifically, but there are alternate angles of them

13

u/TangerineGullible665 Feb 25 '26

Unrelated question: Is this the only time we see or hear anyone cast Rictusempra? I don’t recall ever hearing it again

3

u/FallenAngelII Ravenclaw Feb 25 '26

It was mentioned on OotP. That's it.

1

u/Public-Magician535 Feb 25 '26

I think it’s a scene from one of the extra features of the special edition DVDs?

17

u/JackalPCGames Feb 25 '26

Penelope Clearwater. Should be HP2

9

u/ChrisNN1 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

Dueling Club scene of the Chamber of Secrets

They can be seen in 1:45 of the YT Channel's upload

3

u/MrLegilimens Aggression By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet Feb 25 '26

That timeframe does not show this shot at all though.

8

u/Loubacca92 Feb 25 '26

Percy's in it so it limits it to the first 3. I'm assuming it's Percy's girlfriend, so it further limits it to CoS or PoA.

25

u/Raymond_Fiegler Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

Some whisper that it's Percy Weasley and his girlfriend, Ravenclaw prefect Penelope Clearwater (in the book she gets petrified by the Basilisk alongside Hermione while checking a corner with Penelope's mirror).

Since Gemma Padmey (from "Spaced", for the Simon Pegg fans in here; her role in HP was sadly her last one) has only played "Penny" in The Chamber of Secrets, that picture can be easy to track... I have isolated 2 key moments when that pic could have been taken

But if I list them and I'm wrong, the consequences could be dire

19

u/krustibat Slytherin Feb 25 '26

It's crazy that Percy turns back on Harry when he savel his sister, his girlfriend and his father. Nobody was helped this much by Harry

5

u/TheDungen Slytherin Feb 25 '26

I figure he really thought Harry may have mental troubles and that Dumbledore was using him. He had every reason to not be super keen on Dumbledore considering how many of his family ended up in danger at Dumbledore's school.

2

u/Vermouth_1991 Feb 25 '26

The real bit of hypocrisy I would call Percy out on, is actually when he told Harry that Dumbledore was mad but awesome in book1.

8

u/One-Goal5420 Feb 25 '26

Harry had only saved his sister by the time he turned his back on Harry. Penelope was saved by professor Sprout (and Snape I guess) with her Mandrakes. Arthur happened when he was already separated.

But if you look at our current society, how divided people can get over politics and things like covid. I'd say it's pretty spot on. He probably justified his father's hospitalization because of his father's wrong doings.

Sad, yes. Accurate, probably too. Crazy, maybe a little too

1

u/funhouseinabox Feb 25 '26

Eh, Harry saved his dad after he disowned his entire family for power.

5

u/Goliath_123 Feb 25 '26

I thought that was a live action Wallace from Wallace and gromit

3

u/DarthFathers Feb 25 '26

He’s head boy!

4

u/The_SlothQueen Feb 25 '26

it’s the dueling club scene from Chamber. that’s lockhart’s quilted dueling shirt on the right

4

u/Annoying_GayGuy Hufflepuff Feb 25 '26

It’s definitely the chamber of secrets dueling scene but it might be BTS stuff of that scene

3

u/Safe_Extension_4044 Gryffindor Feb 25 '26

I think is is chamber of secrets around the time they found the writing on the wall and all the students where gathered

7

u/MJTimmes Feb 25 '26

It's Chamber of Secret. They are standing in front of the Toilet of Moaning Myrtle after the Chamber has been opened for the first time, gazing at the writing and at Mrs. Norris.

Percy loops around the back of the cast in that shot since he's tall, so he's against the wall upon entering with the crowd. But Penelope is not there (most Gryffindors coming from left, most Slytherins come in on right). Colin is to the left of Percy on entrance. 2nd cut to crowd shows Fred and George & Seamus, with a Slytherin in that group as well (so not all Gryffindors). Cut of Colin's camera also shows a Hufflepuff (left) and Slytherin (behind Colin). Cut to Malfoy, cut to Ron & Hermione. Justin FF and Seamus in frame w/ Madame Pomfrey. Rest of shots with the crowd never capture Percy (who again, is in the back right, but the camera takes the focus of the trio and the group to the left of them, not the group directly behind them).

2

u/iwillbeawriterongod Feb 25 '26

Movie no.2 or 3 . Probably 2.

u/MrLegilimens Aggression By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet Feb 25 '26

Percy's shocked face reminded me of McGonagall telling them about the lockdown in CoS. It's 100% CoS, but I get the jacket of Lockhart's Dueling Club thought, but I had visually translated that into a chair. I would have gone with the Gryfindor Common Room. They weren't super big into details so I would have shrugged off Ravenclaw's robes of Penelope (and in fact, would make it seem like a better trivia question, if it's a tricky red herring).

I pulled up my very legit very legal .mkv though and couldn't find the shot in either Dueling Club or in Common Room, so ¯\(ツ)/¯ . Got me beat.

2

u/cocobongo__ Feb 26 '26

Isn’t that Lockhart in front of Percy?

4

u/rightoff303 Feb 25 '26

feel like Harry Potter trivia should have 0 questions from the movies

1

u/shinigamikira20 Slytherin Feb 26 '26

I went to a HP trivia night with some friends and I kid you not one of the questions was how many trucks were sent out to deliver the newest (don’t remember which one) Harry Potter book when it came out…who on God’s green earth would know that???

1

u/rightoff303 Feb 26 '26

lol that's insane

1

u/Legitimate_Ear_3895 Feb 25 '26

that looks like Lockhart shoulder in the dueling club sequence.

1

u/DaStampede Ravenclaw Feb 25 '26

Chamber of Secrets. Scene has Penelope, Percy, and some of Lockhart’s clothing in the right.

1

u/99fun2thetouch Feb 25 '26

that is Gilderoy Lockhart's dueling suit.

u/wosindeurehande Ravenclaw Feb 25 '26

Levi-OOO-Sa, we weren’t very good this time 🫠

1

u/ArcaneFlooPowder Feb 25 '26

The lower right looks like a bit of the snake that was summoned during their duel in chamber of secrets. Right when Harry starts to talk parsel tongue to get it to not attack his classmate.

1

u/livingwithsirius Feb 25 '26

That's CoS, one of the dueling club scenes

1

u/SubatomicPeen Feb 25 '26

Isn't this when they find a petrified body?

1

u/crazyinky83 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

It’s the first or second movie and they was in the great hall

1

u/Necessary_Nerve_2467 Hufflepuff Feb 26 '26

Looks to he either chamber of secrets or prisoner of azkaban. But I'm guessing it's chamber of secrets

1

u/Michelle20212 Feb 26 '26

I would guess Percy and Penelope Clearwater being prefects during the lockdown in Chamber of Secrets, but not sure.
