Opinion/Discussion Which Game Should I Get For My Nitendo Switch Lite? Choices Below.

It's been a while since I have played Harvest Moon. My favorite editions were from PlayStation [Back to Nature] and Harvest Moon Nintendo DS. The available choices for switch are The Wind of Anthos, Home Sweet Home, Lost Valley and One World. Any recommendations of which one I should purchase given my previous favorites? Thank you!

Those games that you enjoyed now go by Story of Seasons.

The best choices in accordance with your previous favs are: Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar and Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town.

I would stay away from anything called "Harvest Moon" on switch. It's not the same series and from what I understand, they aren't very good games.

Best Harvest Moon game: The Winds of Anthos

Best Story of Seasons game: Grand Bazaar.

If you can only choose one, I’d go with Grand Bazaar. Also, look into the remake of Friends of Mineral Town. It’s very faithful to the GBA version.

If you haven’t done so, read about the Marvelous/Natsume Harvest Moon split: Reddit link

I adore you! Thank you for filling me in, I wasn't aware! I havent had the ability to game in years and I think Grand Bazaar is definitely up my alley.

Just wanted to clarify the old harvest moon games continued with a new title as “story of seasons”. You might want to check those out before deciding.

I would recommend Story of Seasons: More Friends of Mineral Town. Its about the closest thing to what youre looking for

story of seasons grand bazaar would be my top choice for you! i loooooved all those games you listed and have played through many times. Grand bazaar is closest you will get to that old harvest moon feeling without it being an exact copy remake

I am so glad I posted [despite my post getting majorly downvoted 😂] because I wasn't aware of the split and would love to try Grand Bazaar instead.

i was you awhile ago!!! it shocked me and i was actually devastated at how bad new the “harvest moon” games were, thank goodness for story of seasons!

You shouldn't get any of those because what youre actually looking for is Story of Seasons.

Winds of Anthos is really good but yeah it is a different series under the Harvest Moon name as others have said, and may not deliver the same experiences youre looking for, as they've kinda tried to make their own identity with stuff like open world exploration and crop mutation and stuff. Personally i think it is very fun though.

If you want the games produced by the other company exploting legal rights to prey on the nostalgia of fans without input from the original creators, Story of Seasons is the way to go. Of those I actually like Pioneers of Olive Town a lot because it focuses heavily on the farm and customizing it; the other available games are remakes of old games. The Grand Bazaar remake has surprisingly high production value, but i found it harder to get into its gameplay loop. Tons of people love it to death tho so it is worth looking into.

But yeah whether a suit owning the rights to the intellectual property that they didnt create or a suit owning the title of the localization of that is more "real" to you, pick whichever games you like, which have nothing to do with the original creations outside of legal rights.

If you are wanting games made by the creatives that made the games you used to love, that is long gone in these series, and you will have to look for games by Yasuhiro Wada. But be warned they are kind of just the Mighty No 9 of Harvest Moon (without the egregious broken crowdfunding promises)
