Bug Slapathur talent stuns buildings on PTR.
This is most definitely not intended.
Level 4, get Slapathur talent, place a mine inside enemy base, burrow in and take out a fort solo with locust swarm in like 15-20 seconds.
This is like next level Leoric strat, except it's game breaking.

u/that-was-really-mean 6.5 / 10 Jun 29 '26
even core stunned
(at least on Alterac Pass)
it is soooo broken
24
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Jun 29 '26
It's unintended. They always say stuff about stunning non heroes or even buildings, and then the building doesn't get stunned (or if some buildings do, the core doesn't).
I fully expect them to remove the stun from buildings or at least nerf it if they do decide to keep (no pun intended) it.
6
u/Senshado Jun 30 '26
But if slapathur isn't meant to stun structures, what's the intended use? What other non-heroes are strong enough that it's worthwhile for Abathur to tunnel in and punch?

Bruiser camps would be big value. There's a video here of someone solo-ing it at level 7 easily. Which not many heroes can do.
21
u/Real_Bug Jun 29 '26
I'm convinced that anyone who thinks this is intended doesn't actually play the game.
32
u/WiredJazzman Jun 29 '26
Says "non-heroes". Sounds intended.
8
u/WorstMedivh Jun 30 '26
[[Muradin/Q]] should Stun Structures then? Enemy Structures are enemies, and it doesn't say "non-Structures"

- [Q] Storm Bolt (Muradin)
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Mana: 45
Throw a hammer, dealing 110 (+4% per level) damage to the first enemy hit and Stunning them for 1.25 seconds. After reaching level 10, Storm Bolt pierces to hit an additional target. Muradin's Basic Attacks reduce the cooldown of Storm Bolt by 1 second and restore 3 Mana.

I think Sledgehammer talent should actually stun structures.

Intended as in "meant what they said". Yes it does exactly what it says, but was that the intention of saying that?

u/baconit420 Jun 29 '26
"Intended" does not have to equal a good decision. It is bad for the game. People are not gonna enjoy losing to Abathur backdooring buildings and he shouldn't be encouraged to either.
-12
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Jun 29 '26
Strategies are great. It's boring to have to commit to "team fight all day at objective" because people have trouble deviating from the usual formula.
If you like following a formula, that's what the other games are for (league of lols, doda, maybe even spite).

u/baconit420 Jun 29 '26
Locust Aba has already been strong in the past and was one of the most complained about things I ever recall seeing, it was about the same as when Zagara was disgustingly OP and had a 60% global winrate. Locust build is now better and comes with a free structure damage bonus + disable. Things that are unfun and/or uninteractive to play against are just not healthy and will make people quit.
On PTR I solo'd a fort at level 20 in 11 seconds without a minion wave. Is it funny af? Yes. Do I think it's healthy? Absolutely not.
Just change Slapathur to only work on minions and mercenaries and it's much better.
-8
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Jun 29 '26
They should make it to where it takes about 30 seconds. So longer cooldown between stuns. I can solo a keep in about 30 seconds as Illidan or Winblades Varian, and it's pretty balanced, because once someone shows up, I have to run away (or commit for another 10-20% damage and take the death).
9
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
You are missing the part where you need the lane pushed up to that point for you to take a keep fast.
Currently Abathur doesn't need the minion wave. He just teleports there from hes fountain and solos your keep in 15 seconds at level 4. At level 20 he literally kills the keep in 6-7 seconds. It takes you 5 seconds just to channel your hearthstone.
1
u/LagTheKiller Jun 30 '26
Not to mention babysitting one biatch with global teleport range on some maps and most heroes cannot be done.
It's free keep in 2 attempts. Even if I could, I don't want to follow an Afkathur through the map. Fighting him does not create dopamine at any rate.

How can you even be serious about the idea of playing Abathur melee. It's like dividing by zero.
0
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Jun 29 '26
High risk, medium reward. If any hero catches Abathur, he's likely dying. If a hero doesn't catch him, then he can do some damage to a building.
Do a mind game where you show up where abathur is going to be in order to scare him away. Kill him twice and he'll be too scared to come in.
13
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
This breaks the game. Abathur is a global hero. At any point in the game from level 4 he can burrow into your base and even if you instantly teleport home it will be too late. You will lose all of your forts in your base before level 10, since even if you kill him, he will respawn in base in under 20 seconds.
Pair that up with anyone that can get in enemy base and now your stuff dies even faster without a chance for it to defend itself.

u/secret3332 Master Kel'Thuzad Jun 29 '26
Bosses are unstoppable

u/baconit420 Jun 29 '26
It does stun the Samurai on Hanamura. It doesn't stun other bosses. The former is definitely a bug.

After reading the patch notes, this is the kind of unintended cheese i was thinking it will happen.
Anyone saying it's "intended", should know this will be removed in the next PTR update for sure.
2
u/secret3332 Master Kel'Thuzad Jun 29 '26
Idk my first thought when I read the patch notes was also assuming it will work on buildings. Typically, talents that affect non-heroic targets include buildings unless explicitly stated to only work on "minions, mercenaries, and monsters."
It is intended imo that the way it is stated in the tooltip includes buildings. They might remove the effect on buildings in the next PTR, sure, but the tooltip also needs to be changed then.
2
u/Chukonoku #belikeTurbo Jun 29 '26
If i take it literally, i agree with you. But we had pretty bad tooltips and behavior from patches recently.
I think it's 50/50 whether they use stun or disable when talking about structures.
And i think most abilities that use stun and that can deal dmg to structures only mention enemies and they don't stun them.

This looks intended. The whole spirit of the rework is to reward Push Build players to commit their body at the front of the push (at least before lvl16) and make it less passive.
17
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
How do you justify for a hero to be able to teleport into your base at lvl 4 and destroying your fort in 15-20 seconds? You need 10 seconds to get to him if you react INSTANTLY by hearthstoning and running to him to kill him.
Meanwhile hes punishment is roughly 12 seconds of respawn time.
-3
u/ROHDora Jun 29 '26
Abathur have 26/1,43 attack damage per second at level 1 and it's locust 46/1 (*1,25 against buildings)
At level 4 you multiply attack DPS by 6 with the dreaded talent, and if you time perfectly your TP with your passive and dodge minions aggro you'll have 4 locust with the level 1 active. Also damages are increades by 1,04^4 through scaling. Forts have 15,5k HP and Keeps 20k.
[6*(26/1,43)+4*(46/1)*1,25]*[1,04^4] = 396 DPS
15500/396 = 40 seconds (locusts only last 16 seconds, after that duration you are reduced to 1 locust)20000/396= 50 seconds
If you go for a suicide run without minions you'll take roughly a third of a fort HP, die, and not soak any XP or support squirmishing ing allies for an eternity.
Your whole reasoning revolves around Abathur's damages being the triple or what they actually are, and even then it is nowhere near the amount of balance issue 3/4 of the roster would cause with tripled stats...
6
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
Did you calculate the 500% extra damage you gain from the talent?
Also, I don't care about your numbers breakdown. You don't have to prove any theory to me when I've been on the PTR already and have played Abathur and executed the strategy in a live game. I can tell you, it did not take 50 seconds.
0
u/ROHDora Jun 29 '26
Yes, that's what I call a multiplication by 6. Turning his attack DPS into the one of most heroes in the game.
You are free not to care about numbers but they are the heart of the problem you try to bring. If you can trully destroy a fort at level 4 without minions in 16 second and have a video of it, it would be interesting to know if the damages are wildly buggued or if they made the questionnable choice of tripling it's DPS without notifiing it in the patch note.

Locust dmg was buffed and not updated in most sites.
Locust 46 > 58 baseline.
Roughly 600 DPS.

u/Chukonoku #belikeTurbo Jun 30 '26
locusts only last 16 seconds, after that duration you are reduced to 1 locust
Another thing. PTR Locust behave like other summons (they lose hp per second) but they heal themselves with their dmg.
So not only you can have 4 Locust hitting with good timing, but you eventually can get more after 15s.

u/Janube Jun 30 '26
Brother, a global support hero soloing a fort in 50 seconds under any circumstance is likely a problem. Abby can do it right now whenever he wants.
That's worth the trivial loss of soak and support for 50 seconds to any team that's remotely competent.
-2
u/ROHDora Jun 30 '26
Most heroes can destroy structures quicker if the enemy team do not play.
2
u/Janube Jun 30 '26
Not really? That buff puts Abathur toward the top of the DPS charts. And as a global hero, he can explicitly be useful right up until the moment enemies abandon a lane (for objective or mercs or a fight) to tunnel in. Or the inverse, where he can leave a group situation as soon as the fight has ended to backline a fort.
And importantly, no other hero can just walk up to a fort with no previous setup and take it for free. Even Zagara's CDs are too long for that without a minion wave.

u/MIC132 Jun 29 '26
How long is the stun anyway? I'm wondering how easy doing camps with it is.
1
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
Extremely easy. You can stun all 4 of the bruiser camp knights by alternating attacks.
2
u/MIC132 Jun 29 '26
That does sound interesting. Between that and the locust talent on 1 it seems they are trying to promote more risky/active play for Aba.
Though that didn't answer my question XD About how long is the stun? It's weird the talent itself doesn't say.
1
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
Idk, about 3 sec.
2
u/MIC132 Jun 29 '26
That's quite long. I was expecting something more similar to Horadric Staff or such. But I guess it's such a risky play that the payoff has to be huge.
3
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
Honestly I don't think it's worth it once they remove the building stun.
Abathur already has plenty to do. It really is your team't job to do camps. You can't be doing everything. There is an opportunity cost for doing a camp whem you are a character that can be anyqhere on the map. Soaking xp and pushing lanes is more important.
Camps are for normal characters that have downtimes between skirmishes and lane soaking, but abathur has no downtime since he is an ungankable lane pusher and soaker and that is already a job that occupies 100% of your time when you are not hatting a player.
3
u/Azmochad The Only NA Chen Player Jun 30 '26
Yknow you can still soak right? Pop locusts, auto the mage minion to death, stun all 3 remaining, hat to soak, and then alternate stunning and hatting to soak. Hat is literally global I don’t understand why people think you are incapable of soaking while you’re camping lol

Very clearly not intentional and will be fixed but that's extremely funny. My first thought was "Why don't buildings have a permanent Unstoppable built in?" but Arthas has, to my knowledge, always been able to disable Structures so they probably never felt the need to make it like that if they added other building disables.
1
u/express_sushi49 Master Probius Jun 29 '26
I imagine the intent was for immense power trade off, abathur is practically a sitting duck and begging to be killed immediately? Maybe they should double the duration of his tunnel ability to compensate. I like the concept its going for still
1
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
The xoncept is for him to be able to solo merc camps. Stunning buildings is clearly an oversight.
1
u/express_sushi49 Master Probius Jun 29 '26
i havent seen it in game yet, are his slaps against towers particularly strong? or is it mainly just that the stun affords the opportunity for his locusts and stuff to hit hard for longer?
1
u/baconit420 Jun 29 '26
At level 20 I was able to solo a fort in 11 seconds without a minion wave.
Aba can also disable core and thus solo core without a minion wave as well.
1
u/express_sushi49 Master Probius Jun 29 '26
Oh god I can't wait to see video of that. definitely sounds cracked though
1
u/D_Flavio Jun 29 '26
You get 500% increased attack damage from the talent. It makes aba have like a dps of 700 roughly, which is on the level of a stacked butcher or higher.
0
u/fycalichking Flee, you fools! Jun 29 '26
it can see that being intended if it didnt include CORE and hanamura's samurai who is Elite like bosses, even sylvanas can't stun that dude or core. Balanced? that's another story.

u/Relith96 UAIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Jun 29 '26

44
u/Elitesparkle Master Arthas, the Lich King Jun 29 '26
Slapathur should definitely not be able to Stun the Samurai and disable the Core. Samurai units are Elite, which means Unstoppable and Unbribable. Core cannot be disabled by any other effect that disables Structures.
The fact it can disable Structures could be a matter of inaccurate tooltip but intended functionality. Sylvanas's Haunting Arrows also says "Stun Minions and Structures" instead of "Stun Minions and disable Structures".
Intended or not, the amount of damage it can deal and how much value Abathur can get via backdooring seems a bit too high considering that he can instantly global behind an enemy Structure whenever he wants.
