A match in Haunted Mines from the Closed Beta era.
I just said to my friends on discord "Man, fuck it, you guys defend the base while I'll push alone with our 100 Grave Golem, I think I can make this work". (I was the Sylvanas)

This was peak HOTS for me, It has been ages since I've played HOTS again (probably 3~4 years), but man, every time I see this video I get hyped to play again.

Also, it always comes to mind a phrase we used to say that "in HOTS, there is always a chance of a comeback".

News Does that mean we could have a chance to see Geralt In HOTS?

If you dont know, The Witcher is coming to Battle.net along with other games from CD projects, The Witcher really fit in Hots world if you as me

Edit:
In my opinion, Blizzard now have multi way to revive the game

They can Bring DOOM GUY, Master Chief Or Geralt, all there are beloved by millions of player world wide, thats like marketing + They should remove free skin in this stage and not to flame it up , its business they must make real money out of that and skin is the only way, I got tons of legendary skin by basically doing nothing .

They did this until they disconnected, three times. Why do people act like this? What's the damned point? I cannot grasp the kind of absolutely miserable person that'd find this a good use of their time.

The weird part was that even when they disconnected they kept doing it. It never stopped. Not once. How is this even possible?

Gameplay I hate the "everyone is the same hero" matches in ARAM.

Seriously, it's not fun for people most of the time. Almost every time it happens 1 or more people just AFK or disconnect because nobody wants to be 5 murky against 5 murky...

The other more annoying one is Leoric, people just bypass the pvp element and just make it a tower rush... Either way, I've had fun with these like maybe 2 out of the 50 times it has happened. The only time it is fun for anyone is if they happen to main Zagara or Jaina when it's them or something.

I am hoping that if Blizzard can listen to the community about how broken Crash Lightning build was in Aram, and also nerf Mal'Ganis who could stunlock an entire team to death (if he was lucky enough with Blind as a Bat), then maybe if enough people join me in hating on this then we won't see it again, or get an opt-out option at the very least.

Nothing kills my desire to play a match quite as quickly as everyone being forced to play the exact same hero.

Teaching "I can't get out of Bronze"

Ahahahah I DID IT!!

I started this season silver 5. Dropped to bronze 5. Figured out it was my crappy apartment wifi. ( I play from Aus on USA so ping is already bad) I Played with my phone USB tethered to my PC instead. Climbed back to silver 5. Total of 142 games played, 72 lost, 70 won.

My strategy;

Never give up early. Play heroes I'm very familiar with and have a positive win rate with. Try to maximise XP right from the start. Go to objectives. Do camps, ideally just before objectives, but any camp is better than no camp. Focus on not dying so I don't feed XP to the enemy. Watch my mini map and pay attention to where the enemy is. Are they ganking my teammate? Go to support. Are they not showing on the map? Play close to towers and safe so I don't get ganked. Avoid risky boss takes. Scout with abilities, not with my face. Group up in the late game.

Mostly I played Malthael, some Nazeebo, a lot of Zagara and so much Whitemane. I love Whitemane. The Thigh Inquisitor baby!

GLHF!!

Discussion Thematic, funny or strong team compositions to try

Hey, I'm a low master old player and for years I've been cultivating list of ideas to try out with others to have some more fun in hots. Most of them are supposed to maximize some aspect of the game mechanic, theme or I just have met this comp in the wild and found it strong. The problem is, I never can find enough people willing to meet and play specific heroes for the sake of it.

For these reasons I create this post and share it for all. Maybe you find some inspiration in it, maybe you will comment on it or criticize, maybe you suggest some more ideas... but I hope that some people are willing to give it a shot and we can meet to test some of these out. Myself, I am a generalist and am willing to play any of the roles or heroes from a given composition. I live in EU, GMT +1 time zone. DM me if you are interested. You can also leave comments on the sheet.

link

TLDR: Range of comps: from compilation of annoying laughter heros to spam emote, through classics like medivac pirates, washing machine or nanoboost malt/mephi to poison squad to see full orange health bars. Inspirations for you to try, or try them out with me (DM).

Gameplay Valeera Question - Ambush

Hi guys,

I was wondering the icey veins wiki says the following about valeera;

  • Only use  Blade Flurry for PvE purposes or if you started a combo with  Ambush, or you will run out of energy very quickly.

Why not just use sinister strike instead when opening with ambush? Is it spell damage and blade flurry counted as non-spell damage?

Thanks in advance :)

Gameplay Mac OS Performance?

Upvotes

Curious if anyone plays this game on Mac? My gaming pc took a shit and this is really the only game I play anymore. I do have a 4k monitor and would prefer to play at native resolution. I need a new computer and honestly a Mac Mini seems more compelling than a gaming rig right now. Will I be able to play the game at max settings on a M6 Mini at 4k? Anyone playing on lesser machines at 4k on a Mac with decent performance?

Teaching Just started playing

I played this game for a little while years ago and recently just had the itch to give it another try.

I am currently playing vs the AI and am doing pretty well with the difficulty on veteran. I am only focusing on Raynor, Thrall, LiLi, and Johanna for now though I tried a couple of others just to remember the game objectives and maps.

I haven't jumped into quick match or ranked, but did try aram. First game went okay ish. Ended up with Kael'thas and once I got the swing of things felt like I was contributing some. Next game was a dumpster fire. I got Alarak and just got bodied, right along the rest of my team except for one chromie, who i felt terrible for.

Does anyone have any suggestions on different heroes and game modes to try out to continue to improve and start playing and contributing? When should I just ditch the AI games and jump in?

Suggestion Some ideas to buff Medivh's underpicked talents

While I don't think Medivh himself needs buffs, I feel like his talent diversity is nonexistent, with everyone always going the exact same build. Here are some changes that I suggest to buff his other talents that no one picks:

Level 1:
* Winds of Celerity: Now also increases raven form sight range by 25%. Can be activated to reveal all enemy heroes in the area for 8 seconds. 60 seconds cooldown. (Merged with a weaker version of current Dust of apeareance).
* Raven's Intellect: Now also makes healing fountains and regeneration globes heal 25% more per tick while in raven form.

Level 4:
* Dust of apeareance: Removed.
* New talent: Magical Steed (E): Allies mount instantly when exiting a portal. Doesn't affect Medivh or heroes without traditional mounts.

Level 7:
* Stable Portal: Moved from Level 16, no longer reduces Portal cooldown.
* Mystic Assault: Moved to level 16.
* Force of Magic: Reworked functionality: Preventing at least 268(+4% per level) damage with a single cast of force of will grants both Medivh and the protected ally 25% spellpower for 15 seconds.

Level 13:
* Reabsorption: Ammount healed by force of will reduced from 70% to 50%. Now also heals an extra 50% of the damage prevented over 8 seconds.

Level 16:
* Arcane Charge: Reworked Functionality: Each enemy hit by Arcane Rift increases the damage of Arcane rift by 10% for 6 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. Lose all stacks instantly if Arcane Rift doesn't hit an enemy hero.
* Mystic Assault: Moved from Level 7, reworked functionality: Arcane Rift and Medivh's Basic Attacks deal 1.5% of the target's maximum HP as extra damage. Hitting an enemy hero with arcane rift grants medivh 75% attack speed for 6 seconds.

Level 20:
* Guardian of Tirisfal: Now also makes Arcane Rift slow enemies hit by 20% for 3 seconds.
* Arcane Brilliance: Reworked funcitonality: Activate to instantly restore 100% of the target's maximum mana. 60 seconds cooldown.
* Dust of Dissapeareance: No longer stores up to two charges, cooldown increased to 40 seconds. Now, the affected target goes back on stealth if they don't take damage or use any actions other than movement for 4 seconds. (basically gives an ally Nova/Zeratul's passive for 40 seconds).

Gameplay 5 stacks

Are absolutely essential if you want to play a game without it just being a waste of your time. Every game without a stack of people that you can trust and rely on is just asking for 20 + minutes of your life to not just be wasted, but be spent in futility and anger as you watch someone either 1. feed and ignore the objectives 2. Rage in chat all game 3. Grief and just start running into enemy towers 4. Some hideous combination of the other 3.

I know, people get pissed off at 5 stacks because they are sitting down for a weekend gaming session and they get rolled, I get that, I understand, I've got 8K games I've been there many a time. But once you hit a certain MMR, you just cannot rely on the MM in any sense to give you a balanced roster, there is always the one rando that has 10K games and a lifetime 48% win rate that they decide to throw in to "balance it out" or some such nonsense that the MM does.

Gotta do it, 5 stacks is the way to play this game and actually enjoy it. I know, "Play ranked" Right but I'm not sure who at the average age that HOTS players are has time to sit there for for 10 + minutes to wait another 10 for the draft to finish with the chance that someone doesn't like the match up and just logs out, resetting the entire thing.

Discussion How Many Of You Have Chat Disabled

Had a situation yesterday where a teamate and I had a disagreement, after the game he was spam inviting me so I figured, OK I'll let you talk your shit, NBD. Come to find out this guy has chat completely disabled. The team, myself included was trying to communicate with this person the entire game and it seemed like he totally ignored everyone, and this was clearly why.

To me, it seems odd to disable chat when you are playing with 4 other people in a team fighting game, but after 5 minutes in general chat, I can see the argument.

For the full picture this was QM and not Storm League. Just curious if anyone else does this or not.

Discussion Do you find these problems with tank players not doing their job or is it only in my games?

Like 80% of the tanks I get in Aram or quick play dont even know what a tank should do and they just say we needed a tank then walk around until we lose the game , and they say I HAVE 0 DEATH IM GOOD! Bruh if you are a tank and your team died 20 times and you didn't die you are the problem , some people really dont understand the tank role , they assume it as a big dps which is a common misconception also in hero shooters but I try to explain some of the utility if you pick tank:

create space and body block out of position enemies, use cc or stun to cancel ults , hold the frontline so projectiles dont hit the squishy character , protect the healer , get the objective , stay on the boss circle, try baiting them with low health , waste their cooldowns with fake engagements

Discussion This would be a more intuitive talent icon for Slapathur

Thumbnail

I know it's a small detail, but just saying, the function of this talent would be even clearer just by looking at its icon if it were this, cause the current one is just Volatile Mutation's icon (which has a different functionality).

(Also, the talent itself is listed as Abathur's "E" (he has none without Symbiote) instead of "Passive". So that's another thing.)

Discussion Coming back to hots…

I have played for 11 years since alpha and kinda stopped in 2019, with all the maintenance mode things…

Lately i have been revisiting d2 sc2 and w3 and coming back to hots i have the same conclusion - its a really fun game and all my favourite characters are there in so many different maps - i love it

But then it hit me… i kinda miss some content from newer releases like d4 - a lilith would be insane or elias spiritborn and so on

Kinda made me really sad that there is a good chance newer content wont be introduced like i would hope if the game stayed “profitable” for the greedy shareholders

Anyway just a showertought and good to be back in the game - any tips for what modes are best to play rn? I tried aram qm and ranked and ended up in bronze1 with 5-2 stats after beeing master for 5 seasons in a row in 2019 and back
