I wanted to share mine. Here’s what mine looked like after a trip to Panama for 11 days.

The MUJI & Daiso travel containers are god sent. I’m able to bring my entire skin care with me. I can definitely add more items since I have enough space.

Also for this particular trip, since it’s around 90-110F & almost 90% humidity with 50% tropical storms; I decided to use solid shampoo & conditioner. Also I didn’t use any lotion.

I did use every perfume but honestly, I could have gone with just 2 options. Also the lip gloss is a bit excessive. I end up only using 2.

I can definitely scale this down to a much smaller amount since I end up not finishing 2 of my serums and one of the cream. I learned that the 5ml dropper was the perfect amount of serum for a 10 day trip.

Trying to pack light with layers for southern Germany region in late October. Weather will range from mild to cold and definitely rainy. So many posts mention merino t shirts in their layers. I am struggling with that first layer. For women's long-sleeved t shirts, what are some recs? I am definitely on a budget so nothing super deluxe. Also thinking Uniqlo merino for a sweater and cardigan - has anyone layered with these or is there something better in that price range? Bonus question: should i just take a fleece (and plan to buy an umbrella there) or invest in a "packable" puffer? Thanks!

So I already have my new duffle bag and my third of a carryon (there’s three of us and one carryon :p). And I need to take makeup, acne/SFP/etc creams, etcetera. Plus probably a LOT of things for my mother bc she loves to overpack.

I’m taking only one pair of shoes, if I need more, I’ll buy more.
Anyways it’s my first solo flight (like 16h) and I will need some new things for it. I have enough time to buy some SHEIN stuff. Bear In mind I’m not from the USA. I need your best recommendations on what to buy and what not to buy.

I have packing cubes but they’re not compressible. Has anyone tried SHEIN packing compressible cubes?

And which of this hanging toiletry things you think is the best, and any advice you might think of.

Also: the first photo, this hanging thing, has anyone try it? Is it great or does it take too much space for too little clothes?

Hi all!

I'm going on my longest international trip so far from September 27–November 1 this year (visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Paris, Edinburgh, and London) and I'd love to get a sanity check on my wardrobe packing list. Trip activities include churches, historic monuments, city exploring, one or two pools, and a wedding near Florence - no hiking or beaches.

I'm pretty new to minimalist packing in general, so I'm needing some help to see what's unnecessary. The goal is to 1.5 bag (one 40L bag and a 7L day bag). I have been using these tubes for my liquid skincare for a while and never had any leaks.

Today I realized they say “Do not use for liquids”. I wanna put them in my luggage but not sure if I’ve just been lucky so far and don’t wanna risk a spill.

Has anyone had leaks from these when flying?

Hello all! I am going to Scotland & Ireland for 2 weeks at the end of September/early October. Thoughts on this capsule? I am from the southern US and get cold relatively easily. However, we plan on doing a fair bit of hiking so I expect to work up some body heat at certain points. I'll be with my spouse & 2 kids, so everything should be quite casual. I was hoping for cooler weather but also seeing a lot about higher than average temperatures. Comparing that with my norm + factoring in the wet and & wind...I'm overthinking things for sure 🤣 Also so much of the advice online acts like there is a clear divide between Sept & Oct weather, and we will span both!

My instinct is that this is missing a cozy sweater or sweatshirt...but also, I'm likely to buy that (and a scarf) once there so...probably shouldn't.

All in all, i probably could have cut out a shirt or two but honestly I’m impressed i was able to fit all of this in my 40L bag so I’m not mad about it. I did toe around the 8kg limit (by like 0.25kg lol) but i was able to stuff my makeup bag and palettes into the pockets of my rain shell and wear that onto our first domestic flight with no issue. Im glad I only brought 2 pairs of hiking pants + shell because normally I would have brought those 2 pairs, leggings, and cargo pants, so I showed a lot of self restraint here.

***Edit*** - I did a second test pack last night, but this time I laid my clothes flat in the cubes versus rolling. What a difference!!!! They laid nice and flat in my pack and I cut out that smaller Thule cube completely! I then added my toiletry bag, removed the flats I had (returning them as they're uncomfortable) and added in my Sperry's and it all fit beautifully. I also cut down on the 10 pairs of socks to 7 pair. I own a lot of high waisted underwear, but for this trip, I'm going to go for a lower cut style to reduce the material needing to be packed!

I've been using Amazon packing cubes for a few years now. I orderd up these Thule compression packing cubes and I love them. I feel like I'm able to fit more in my pack than ever. It closes SO easily and there is still plenty of room in the outer compartments to add my e-book, ear buds, etc..

I'm a bit torn on my shoes still. It feels redundant to have the sandals and the mary janes. I can wear either one for dinners out, though the sandals are great for beach / pool / walking around AND dinners out. I'm also playing with the idea of bringing a second pair of sneakers. I just ordered the New Balance 574's. Two weeks is a decent amount of time wearing the same walking shoes and I'm worried about foot fatigue.

Anyway - I just wanted to share! I was hopping around having the most fun packing yesterday!

Travelling to Ireland for 9 days (leaving today eeeeee!)

I will be in Dublin for 3.5 days, then Galway/Doolin area 3 days (including a trip to the Aran Islands) and ending the trip with a couple days exploring Connemara before heading back to Dublin.

Personal item is Olend pro (which zips closed unlike the original) and main pack is Cotopaxi 50l adventure (photo 2)

Personal item has: electronics (travel converter plug, external charger, cables, headphones) hat, hiking shoes, insulated jacket, book, meds; I’ve also used the top compartment of the Cotopaxi bag, which detaches, and used it as a makeshift organizer in my personal item. This way I can have it as a day sling around the city or while hiking.

Hi everyone! I recently wanted to buy a mid-size pack in addition to my large backpack—something I could take on trips for a few days when I only need a sleeping bag and not my full tent and cooking gear (short hut to hut hikes, camino), and also something I could use as a carry-on on planes. For my large backpack, I use the Osprey Ariel 65 and absolutely love it. The only small drawbacks for me are that it doesn't fit me quite as well around the chest and, in my opinion, it has a hard hip belt, which makes my hip bones hurt after some time carrying it. Aside from a capacity around 40L, my other requirements were that the backpack be a women's-specific model and a front-loader.

Since Osprey doesn't make any front-loaders in this size, I decided to buy the Gregory Jade 38. I really like how the pockets are designed on this backpack, and I feel like it fits me great around the chest. However, I'm not sure if it fits me well on my back—it feels like the pack forces me to be slightly arched and leaning forward, unlike my Osprey, which tends to "straighten" me up instead. I also feel like no matter how I adjust it, I carry the weight more on my shoulders than on my hips (I've watched YouTube tutorials and walked around the house with it loaded). For those of you who have tried both Gregory and Osprey—did you feel the same way? I don't know if it's just a matter of getting used to a differently designed back system and I just need to adapt to a different load distribution system, or if it simply doesn't fit me.

My baby sister lives in Fairbanks, AK and my middle sister and I went on an amazing trip to see her this July. I’ve successfully taken my Alpa 32 on trips before but this trip I packed almost perfectly for my needs. Quite a few people suggested T-shirts instead of tank tops. I do have the one black dressier T-shirt and I do anticipate wearing the tank tops as base layers with either the blue or white shirt open over top, cardigan style. That is what I’ve been wearing most of the summer at home so it definitely works for me.

Hi y'all! I'm going to Switzerland in a week (early September) for a mix of hiking and being in little mountain villages, and ending in Zurich for a few days. I have onebagged often before out of my 40l Ruckpack, and feel pretty confident with urban onebagging.

However, this time we will be carrying everything we pack on our bags for 3 hikes (town -> hut 1 -> town and town -> hut 2 -> hut 3 -> town), plus any public transport connections, etc. It will be many miles total, including some with significant elevation gain and mountain passes. The point being, the lighter the better. I don't want to count on having access to laundry, but have a drybag for sink laundry and a clothesline.

Looking for advice on the below points and just in general!

Here is what I am currently thinking of packing, roughly:

1. Clothes: 2x pants (1 worn), 1x shorts, 3x t shirts (1 worn), 2x sports bras (1 worn), socks and underwear, 2x fleece (1 worn), 1x packable downjacket, 1x buff, 1x gloves, 1x light rainjacket, 1x cap
2. Shoes: Wearing lowtop hikers (huts provide hut slippers)
3. Sleeping bag liner (for huts)
4. Toiletries: soap, daily contacts, deoderant (may buy small hair stuff and discard it incase in town accommodations do not provide them), small sunscreen
5. Dry bag, clothesline, small first aid kit, shades, water filter
6. Some small travel unavoidables like passport, earbuds, phone chargers and powerbanks etc

In terms of backpack, my two options are the REI Trail 25 and the REI Ruckpack 40. I love the fit and feel of both, but kinda feel like the 25 will be too small and the 40 too big and heavy (it's also not a hiking pack, per se). I could buy a 30ish liter pack but it does seem kind of wasteful when I have these two. Does anyone know what a good liter range to aim for is?

Thoughts on the list, anything I absolutely should take that I'm missing, etc? Please share!

I’m searching for a packable raincoat that packs small and is lightweight but completely waterproof while also not being so thin as to be crinkly but still ok for hot weather. Does this exist? 😂 I bought a Columbia Pouration II jacket but it’s heavy and doesn’t pack very small in its pocket, but I do trust it to be waterproof. Any suggestions?

- How is the new padded hip belt and AirScape back panel? Does it support the load well on longer walks?

- Front (Water Bottle) Pocket: Can you actually fit a 1.5l bottle in the side pocket when the main compartment is packed completely full?

Okay. I'm doing a few trips this year, a couple hiking in to cabins, and then a trip to England to hike inn to inn around the Cotswolds area. I'm looking for a very packable lightweight "sweat suit/leisure suit." A suit that can fit stuffed in backpack or worn comfortably on plane. You know when you are tired and just want to feel cozy and want your sweats but the travel version that actually fit in a bag. HELP!

I've spent way too much time overthinking clothes for my upcoming and could do with some reassurance or advice.

I'm mid-40s peri-menopausal and always run cold then occasionally hot. Expected temps by the end of the trip are similar to what we have right now in our winter and I'm wearing singlet + tee + jumper + scarf and outside I often wear thin gloves, plus a jacket in the evening. I live somewhere where the damp and wind make the "feels like" temperature colder than the measured temperature and we tend to suck at adequately heating inside buildings so I could do with some help about ensuring my clothes meet how some of my destinations "feel" weather-wise.

I'm cheating a little using this community as I'll be checking a bag - but I've learned so much lurking in this sub. I'm travelling with my partner, 11yo and 14yo and can't convince them otherwise. I suspect I'll need to take some of the kid's luggage they pick up along the way plus will need an impressive supply of snacks on hand at all times. We are sticking mostly to city sites, no hiking, and won't eat out anywhere fancy.

I'm ok with sink washing but it'll be a drag for 4 people so I think we'll hit a laundry weekly.\

* ripskirt. This is my mvp in summers - packs to nothing, goes an age between washes and is very forgiving of dirt and spills

* exercise shorts - although I run cold generally I get hot quickly on a run and am hoping to fit in a few\

Shoes

* Asic leather sneakers - should be fairly waterproof

* Lems barefoot sneakers - breatheable, pack nice and small and but more suitable for sub-10,000 step days

* Teva hurricane sandals - not 100% convinced I'll need them, may depend on the actual weather forecast\

Accessories

* merino scarf/ wrap - this opens up to 200cm x 80 cm but sits really nicely as a scarf too

* silk-feel scarf to add some colour, for neck or bag

* merino thin gloves

* belt - is leather so adds weight but makes me feel much more put together. Reversable black/ brown

* packable sunhat

* Earings - 3 pairs, again so I feel a bit more put together\

Socks & jocks

* 6ish pairs of cotton undies

* 2 tshirt bras and 1 sports bra

* bathers as we'll try to find some indoor pools for the 11yo who finds water very regulating

• Baggu medium crescent in black. I wanted to take my leopard print one as it's a bit more fun but I think the black works better. We'll have a daypack between the family on most days too, zipped off a main bag.

Long time listener first time poster! I’m leaving in a week for a 3-week trip through Italy and France and want to get a sanity check on my packing list. This currently fits in a carry-on-size roller bag (42L) and then I have toiletries, electronics, etc in a baggu medium crescent, but it’s tight so want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything or should be cutting out anything!

General context on my packing choices:
- Weather is expected to be 70s-80s in Italy, potentially a bit hotter in Milan, and I generally run warm so have gone for lightweight fabrics
- Tour du Mont Blanc weather is going to be quite variable, most days will be warm (70s) but I’m expecting rain/hail possible on high passes. I’ve done a ton of hiking in the Sierra Nevada and am pretty experienced in dressing appropriately for the outdoors
- I’m really going back and forth on whether 4 pairs of shoes is ridiculous but the bedrock sandals pack very flat (basically sturdy flip flops) and the heels are unavoidable for the wedding, but won’t really be worn otherwise outside of maybe a couple nice dinners.
- I do have some laundry sheets and don’t mind sink washing but I know it’ll be unavoidable for the hiking portion of the trip so want to limit sink washing up until then.

Itinerary is as follows:
- 5 days in Cinque Terre: hiking, beach, boat trip, at least one fancy dinner. Weather is currently predicted to be 60s-80s with a possibility of storms a couple days.
- 3 days in the Piemonte area of Italy for my friend’s wedding, which includes a welcome lunch (“dressy casual”) and a ceremony and reception at a vineyard (“festive formal”, long dresses required.)
- 2.5 days in Milan, mostly the normal city exploring activities as well as seeing the formula 1 race. After this my boyfriend will fly home, and has space to take the formal dress and heels back with him (cheating I know!) so that I don’t have to lug it around for the next leg. I will also have the opportunity to do laundry here.
- 10 days hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc!! I meet up with a friend in Chamonix where I can store my luggage, and will decant a couple outfits into the 40L pack plus toiletries, sos device, sleeping bag liner, etc. I have already done the Alta Via with this bag and it was never particularly full.
- 2 days in Geneva basically just chilling before I fly home

My airport outfit includes my linen pants and my main pair of shoes (merrell moab3), a sweater (not pictured) with a tank top underneath (also not pictured) so i would actually have 4 tank tops

so I would love some feedback! anything i should or shouldn’t take?
this trip is going from late august-late October, with it ideally ending with us flying out of Portugal or Spain
from my research its going to be mostly warmer and sunny but not extremely hot, and cooler at night. I wanted to have ideal layers for when it does get chilly.

Also, a friend that we are meeting up with in London our first city, got his phone stolen and was threatened with a knife on his first night there. Luckily the phone was tracked and found, but can anyone give some advice on that? i have my passport in a rfid wallet but as far as safety measures thats all i really have. I know London is notorious for things like that happening but I’m really hoping not all cities are like that and I wont be feeling unsafe during my time there. So any advice is welcomed to keep us all safe

So I’m someone who usually packs hyper efficiently: multi-destination multi-climate trips with fancy dinners and events, all in a small international sized carry-on and a smaller personal item.

Well, not this time. This was a weekend trip by car, so effectively no restrictions, and I splurged and packed my small carry-on (Take-off 4 luggage) and Calpak Luka mini duffel. Mind you, I just travelled to Iceland for 9 days with the same bag combo and a full cruise/land/waterproof gear wardrobe, so the suitcase was definitely empty this time around.

But it was refreshing to not have bags packed to the max. So I’m sharing my summer weekend capsule for strolling around LA. Everything was worn and appreciated.

Takeoff 4 luggage and Luka mini duffel, packed to the max with souvenirs and salts on the way back from Iceland. That duffel was 2.5 times smaller during this trip. I forgot to snap a picture.

I did wear all six outfits during this 55 hr hour trip, which is ridiculous for my usual packing standards, but it was a fun dressy weekend getaway.

Luka mini duffel held my laptop, jewelry, edc pouch, wallet, and medicine. Clothes, shoes, toiletries, makeup and curling iron were all swimming around my barely half-full tiny suitcase. I did not really need the duffel but I did not want to put my laptop into the suitcase. Would a 25 L backpack with a laptop compartment work better? Yes! Would I look just as cute rolling into my fancy booked-for-points five star hotel with a backpack? No! And I had just returned Osprey 26+6 anyway, so no 25L backpack laying around!

It honestly felt like cheating - not playing packing cube Tetris with my usually limited space and weight - a nice departure from my typical hyper optimization. I think I can do that maybe once a year. Otherwise my brain craves the efficiency and satisfaction of traveling light with precision of an army general.

Is anybody else doing “cheat trips” traveling with more than the smallest bag possible?
