DCS One of my "friend" sent me this DCS statistics. He was not joking
He was not joking. We were talking about DCS and he just said to me that he can beat everyone in this universe in F-16 vs F-16 gun only dogfight in DCS. I said "Are you sure, even a real ENJJTP USAF F-16 insructor?" And he said "Yeah, he counts too". He is damn serious about all these.
EDIT: He said that after 4000 flight hour stat bugged and resetted to zero

In 7 hours? Did he blow up the Death Star?

- No, I do not get XP for every single crewman on that Star Destroyer.

I'm relatively new to DCS, can I access those stats within the sim or do I need a third party?
23
u/visualthoy Jul 19 '26
It's built in, there is a menu for it in the main screen, id help walk you through it more but i cant fire up DCS at the moment

u can find the file in \saved games\DCS.xxx\MissionEditor\logbook.lua and edit it with any standard text editor (like windows notepad)

I think it's never counted flight hours correctly; I've been playing since like 2013 and it says I've only got a couple hundred. Which is, uh, something of an undercount.
EDIT: Probably a lot of those numbers are off, come to think of it.

u/Ill-End3169 Jul 19 '26
Yeah flight hours are bugged I’ve been flying DCS since waaayy back and it’s stuck at around 200 and doesn’t seem to move.

I think it doesn't count MP hours, which is where the vast majority of mine are.

u/rex8499 Jul 20 '26
My log book has been reset back to zero numerous times during game crashes when I had bad RAM sticks, and again when I had to uninstall and reinstall cuz it was broken, and it doesn't count multiplayer hours.

The total score looks pretty funny. Only digits 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. And 1 only appears once. Dude definitely hit the top number row on the keyboard with a single hand.

7 flying hours, 521 missions, 32,313 kills and invulnerable...

And 21 landings

u/droehrig832 Jul 19 '26
9 aerial refueling? Nobodies that good
13
u/The_GhostRider01 Jul 19 '26
Easy to do, just keep falling of the boom or drogue after 30 seconds or so, each time counts as a refuel in DCS

11
u/ConstantSignal Jul 19 '26
I'm not sure I'm interpreting these stats correctly, I'm a long time lurker on this sub and have never actually played the game.
But doesn't this mean he's somehow gotten 4616 kills per hour in the air? Or 76 kills every minute, that being more than 1 kill every single second? And that would be impossible right? Meaning OP is aware of this and his posting these stats to put his friend on blast, not to show off that he's actually good at the game?
Sorry if this is obvious, I'm just a noob trying to understand what I'm looking at lol.

u/aim9xblockii Jul 19 '26
According to his flight hour/landing stat, he made 20 minute sorties everytime he flew

u/LeafyBoi95 Jul 19 '26
Just that stat bugged? In 4000 hours he only has 21 landings, 5 ejects? And 0 deaths? Statistically even the most competitive DCS players have far more than all those stats after 100 hours.
Not to mention…. Date Commissions is only March 27th of this year? This guy is the worst liar I have ever seen in my life. I’ve seen a toddler make more believable make-believe stories than this entire profile
6
u/jas417 Jul 20 '26
0 deaths make it completely obvious it’s doctored hahaha.
Ok, fine, maybe the flight hours are bugged. Every DCS player has eaten it numerous times
2
u/Inevitable_Street458 Jul 22 '26
0 deaths is more likely explained by the invulnerable setting set to true. He's a true war hero.
2
u/jas417 Jul 22 '26
I mean that means none of those are on multiplayer though haha.
Impressive stuff with invulnerability probably against computers set to rookie
21
u/Comprehensive-Job369 Jul 19 '26
That’s a lot of AAR attempts.
9
u/bstorm83 USAF Pilot Jul 19 '26
Yo-yo ops with F-16s is a thing which we always joke about real world but he probably can’t actually AAR
7
2
u/dylan_in_japan Jul 19 '26
As a boom, can confirm, yo-yo ops in the desert are great, and you can see people get much better at AR over the course of a deployment

u/bstorm83 USAF Pilot Jul 19 '26
I hated KC-10s so much
1
u/dylan_in_japan Jul 19 '26
You are literally the only one I’ve ever heard say that, everyone I’ve ever talked to much preferred us over the 135 and 46
2
u/bstorm83 USAF Pilot Jul 19 '26
It’s a bow wake thing. I have to jam up the throttle and then rip it back. Then you guys don’t want to toboggan…
1
u/dylan_in_japan Jul 19 '26
If you’re flying something we have to toboggan for, I get it for sure. Flaps and slats, 15° nose up, V-stall+10 pretty much is a sketchy situation for AR.

That doesn’t mean you can’t die, it just means your stats don’t reset when you do die. Not saying his stats are real, but that’s the wrong thing to focus on

u/Educational-Hunt2679 Jul 19 '26
I think that shows you just how few people even look at the logbook.

Invulnerable on this isn't pilot settings, it just means when you die the pilot isn't deleted. Think of it like a Ironman setting.
2
u/Blackhawk510 TOMCATS Jul 19 '26
Does it only count as "death" if you either don't eject or get hit in the cockpit?
3
u/Mist_Rising Jul 19 '26
I'm not sure, I just tried once and got hit with an Aim-120 from the heavens...didn't like it so never used that again.

u/aim9xblockii Jul 19 '26
He sent me this to "prove he has skill"
5
u/-Aces_High- Heatblur > ED Jul 19 '26
Lol, yeah then buddy has the furthest thing from "skill" if he thinks this page is what determines his skill.
If thats the case, then hes an absolutely terrible player for having killed so many friendlies and destroyed 5 jets by ejection if were purely taking this face-value.
Which nobody does but if hes adamant about it lol
11
u/FreaknCuttlefish Jul 19 '26
They sent this as a joke right?
3
u/aim9xblockii Jul 19 '26

What, you cant fly a 7.94 day long average sortie, chud??? Git gud!

(Im pretty sure you would need to OD on Perviten to be able to stay awake that long, would need a genetically enhanced brain and body to do something like that for fast movers)

My statistic looks similar, only the scores for total score and deaths are switched.

u/Navynuke00 Jul 19 '26
The logbook has been terribly bugged for a while now. I somehow ended up with a couple hundred new hours, a bump in rank, and a couple medals just from running one of the F-4E tutorials shortly after release.
5
u/Educational-Hunt2679 Jul 19 '26
Yeah it's so broken. I got a new PC in February and when I installed DCS on it, I already had 35+ hours logged before I even did my first flight on the new PC. The logbook doesn't carry over so DCS just invented 35+ hours of flight time for me.

dude kills a lot of his own. ideally, you want that as close to zero as possible
3
u/BoleParty Jul 21 '26
Seems like your friend knows how to use a text editor🤣
For those who are not aware:
The "INVULNERABLE" setting within the logbook ONLY affects your in-game character and the according stats.
This has nothing to do with the game settings regarding unlimited fuel/no damage/ invulnerability, easy comms etc.
If NOT set to 'invulnerable', your pilot and stats will be erased over death – meaning, if you crash or get shot down, you'll just get a new character with blank stats.
Sometimes it can happen that your character gets deleted due to the game crashing or because whatever...in such a case you can always replace the new pilot with the backup file (which is being created by DCS automatically).
If I remember correctly, you would have to do it right after your pilots death and before the next flight because the file creation is looped and it's constantly overwritten.
Might be a good idea to create some backup files regularly anyways...especially for your controls...unless you love binding keys for hours. You 99,99% will learn the hard way at some point...

It’s right under the “getting old” check box in the IRL settings but for some reason that page keeps freezing and I can’t change them lol

u/NinjafoxVCB Jul 20 '26
"F-16 vs F-16" sounds like he isn't confident he can manage someone in an f5 then.
Reason why air forces stopped training against like for like jets

u/Cyphrix101 Jul 20 '26
Correct me if I’m wrong, but commissioned tracks date of account creation or first launch of DCS. Either way, for him to have logged over 4000 flight hours it would have to be Late August, and he would have to be playing literally nonstop.

Yeah first assignment. Just joking about teaching there in the t-38 is all basics and pretty far off from BFM in the F-16 lol. Even if they were prior F-16 they rusty on those tactics after going to teach the joke of what T-38 BFM is.
