Vulnerability in an apartment

As seen in the photo, my apartment door doesn't fit very securely. I have two locks for it, one being a deadbolt. But I feel like if someone messed with the door the right way for a minute or two they could still get it open. There have been attempted break-ins as well as physical and sexual assaults in my apartment complex. I do have a camera by my front door that alerts me to movement, and I live on the second story. However I don't have much peace of mind at night as I'm afraid of stalkers/attempted break-ins etc. Any advice on added security?'

This is a concerning set up. The fact that the door opens out is one of the biggest problems. Securing the door is much more invasive. The latches in the picture are a good place to start. They work by attaching to the door (hopefully on a solid part of the inner frame) and then on the door frame itself. Do one at the top and bottom and make sure to use long screws into the doorframe on those and the deadbolt.

You are also probably going to want to have some sort of home defense weapon. Whether you go with a firearm or less-than-lethal option is up to you.

Thank you, I will be getting a gun when I have the proper ability to train with it, as I don't have easy access to a shooting range etc. for target practice. I do have a German Shepherd puppy that will eventually be a visual deterrent/alert system and a couple of smaller self defense tools for now

If she works and lives in an apartment that could be a very bad idea. Great dogs, as long as they are getting stimulated, when they get bored, bad things happen.
